Aside from having my mind blown from that performance, the best part about this video is seeing how happy he was at the end of it. Tommy has never lost his love for playing, to see an artist who still enjoys his trade as much as he did when he started is incredible. One of a kind.

Tommy never practices playing the guitar, however, he does train his guitars every day to keep up with him!
@sanctuarytimbers7175 жыл бұрын
I was worried for a second that you were trippin, but yeah perfectly said.. those matons are trained to keep up with him, and have become part of his body, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a guitar in his arms.. tremendous guitar playing..

What song is he playing at 3:37? Long shot here but if anyone knows Paul Mccartney personally, I think Paul would love to hear Tommy play Michele and other songs. Would make a great DVD to sell and Paul can sing some on it and play, but mostly entertaining Paul. Can anyone set this up. Does anyone know if he has met Paul yet?

Not sure why you havent received a response for this yet. You probably know by now, but that tune is called Halfway Home, written by Tommy Emmanuel.

Simply the best at what he does. So versatile too; gypsy jazz, blues improv, travis picking, killer rhythm comping and making a ballad sing like nobody else can IMHO, plus incredible songwriting and a real professional when it comes to the live stage. God bless you Tommy Emmanuel, thank you for the music!

I get so much joy out of watching someone who is a master at their instrument. And the facial expressions, he is so happy as he plays. Nothing else in the world matters. Just incredible.

I'm fortunate to live in an area that Tommy visits every year so I have seen him 6 years in a row. He often plays the same song, but he never plays it the same way twice. And the people here love him, and he loves his audience. And it shows. He is a master of both the guitar and the stage.

Tommy plays the cleanest artificial harmonics in the world! All of his playing is so crisp and clean.He has so much to teach us with his A W E S O M E technical prowess and the joy he transmits when he plays! The perfect musician/virtuoso and he is also a gentle giant full of great nuance! May we have him for another 40 or so years with that loving smile and TEAR IT UP playing! Not only a fabulous guitar player but a real gentleman and extraordinarily kind human being. He indulged me after one of his performances by allowing a photo to be taken of my hand pressed against his in comparison. I had been convinced he must have long fingers to make the reaches that he does. I found my fingers were the exact same size, so now I have no more lame excuses to not excel more than I have on the guitar. He did say that putting in the practice time enables the extreme reaches.

Thanks for the tip on Matons. I mostly play a Fender Stratocaster, my acoustic is a Yamaha 402. I've never had a Martin, and yet their factory is only about 15 miles from my house! That situation will change as soon as my tax return shows up. BTW---"Michelle" was referring to the 1966 Beatles classic from their Rubber Soul album.
