Good to see a set of classic diesel's at the border city. Nice to see aerial footage of the old lines of Appleby.👍

Who knows - perhaps some of my younger fellow film-makers at the Citadel might live to see rails linking Kirkby Stephen with Appleby along the old NER trackbed - I certainly won't! Best wishes David.

Great views and tour at Appleby. Strange how the pub seems to get in your way 😂

The Peak looks a lot better now than the way most of the ones I remember in BR blue. Really made a good job of restoring it. Nice you got to see Tangmere at Appleby better than another departure from Carlisle it was a lovely day as well by the look of it.

First Peak I've seen for many a long year - and, as you say, looking good. The trip to Appleby was a good choice - it's a lovely spot, gives me a rare chance to film steam at speed, spend some time with Station Master Michael and, although it was quite a windy day, I did manage to get the drone into the air. Not to forget the Midland Hotel!

Glad you enjoyed it - hopefully there'll be plenty more to come before the season is over. Best wishes.

It proved an eventful day for the Wanderer. Caught Tangmere at Preston. By the way did you notice that the 50 was silent as it passed by?

I've just rewatched the video - I thought I could hear the 50 just purring - ticking over - perhaps I'm wrong. Although I never knew them in their heyday on the WCML they, along with the 52s, were the bread-and-butter of the Western region before the IC125s took over. I liked both classes.

9.46 It is an original steam Dalek - we've known it all along. Funny the Tesco supertrolly runs on a Saturday. Probably won't be unloaded until monday. What does it carry on the way back ? Can't be that much demand for haggis, venison and grouse. Maybe it's brewdog ? Didn't see many 45s when I was young. Used to watch double headed 50s hurtling through Wigan NW on visits, and 40s an 47s everywhere. Saw a few 52s down in Exeter on a visit there. Peaks actually sound like a diesel engine though. So did 37s which I saw on a couple of Scotrail tours.

I've always found it an odd looking machine but, a dalek? That thought never occurred to me. Haggis, venison and grouse - you missed out whisky - surely our most important export. I lived near Newbury for six years in the dying days of the 52s - I'd love to see one of those at the Citadel and it would be as much at home as Oliver Bulleid's engines.

Tim has you seen the class 26 diesel train that was built in 1958 that was the MK1 but there was a MK2 that was built in 1978 and it was continued until 1988 Tim Bo’ness railway has two of them just now
@schoolshorts3 ай бұрын
I haven't been to Bo'ness for many years and it's extremely difficult to get to by public transport from where I live - but I have travelled behind the class 25, 26 and 27 on a number of occasions in the 1980s.
@FraserWest-um4ue3 ай бұрын
The MK1 class 26 is actually identical to the 24/25 but the MK2 class 26 is actually built from scratch with brand new technology and new engines more powerful and actually a faster diesel train Tim very good 👍 video this morning and definitely worth going to see the steam train that went to see looking forward seeing the next video
