I found this song because of the beautiful guitar in this and yes I jumped on it and am in the middle of learning the song. But I just heared the translation and... my god i love this song even more because Coraline is me, not too long ago. And if I think about it the line "Coraline wants the sea, but she's afraid of water" is where I stood not too long ago, maybe without realizing it or, more likely, without caring I am at that point. I failed an exam during an aprenticeship for my job training and in a bit, I need to go back into another aprenticeship... it stopped the very few plans I had in life up until last summer, I cried a lot and I somedays wished to just get in a plane, fly where ever and never return again. I doubted myself so much, that I even forgot the stuff in school I should have known, because I remember the lessons from last year and I remember that question and I know I should know this, because this is a class I know I am good in. I now know that I simply was so scared of failing again, that it consumed my mind in a way I never felt before. I talked to some people about it, I chatted with my teachers to make sure I know what I need to do and what I don't need to do and, maybe most importantly for me: I reached out to some friends and classmates of mine and asked for help, a network to talk about each others aprenticeships, maybe get some inspirations and most importantly to me: I chose people who I know will kick me in the ass if I am being too lazy and who'll have an open ear if I feel like I have to talk with someone. I feel so, so much calmer about the aprenticeship ever since then and in general I just feel a sort of ease I haven't felt in a long time. I know I will have to fight, and I know it is very possible for me to get scared again once it starts, but I won't be alone this time, because I dared to ask people for help for once and that just has to be my biggest achievement in the last 6 months for me

Brava: in questo specifico momento storico dove spesso le donne vengono lasciate sole a morire in un freddo bosco o in una misera stanza, questa tua spiegazione diventa una lezione di vita, una lezione che dovrebbe essere vista ed ascoltata in ogni scuola del mondo. This has always as been one of my favorite songs of theirs even though I don’t speak Italian and couldn’t understand. Hearing your translation really seals it for me…it just makes it all the more beautiful and poetic and I totally get why I instinctively loved this song. Thank you.

This song reminds me of a Disney princess with a messy background running away from home , starting an adventure to find herself in a vast dark “Tim Burton” style world with medieval and fantasy elements.

I also heard that in Rome the Verano cemetery is called a castle. I do not know how true this is, but this can give additional meaning to the last lines of the song. Perhaps Coraline was thinking about suicide.

Coraline trafigge come una freccia dritta al cuore. Questa canzone è un vero capolavoro, ancora più notevole se pensiamo che è stata scritta da un ragazzo poco più che ventenne con l'anima da poeta e un talento straordinario. Coraline è la Marinella di Damiano. Ne sono convinta. Eccezionale 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Questo ragazzo ha la straordinaria capacità di emozionare chiunque lo ascolti al di là della barriera linguistica. Le emozioni vibrano attraverso la sua voce e la rendono diversa da ogni altra. Ho conosciuto solo un altro artista capace di attirare folle oceaniche con il suono della sua voce, per quanto musicalmente diverso da lui anni luce, si chiamava Freddie Mercury. Sentiremo parlare dei Maneskin ancora per molto, molto tempo... ancora non abbiamo visto niente

Complimenti davvero bellissima spiegazione. Comunque la canzone è ispirata dalla sua ex fidanzata che ha avuto problemi di salute non diagnosticati che le hanno creato e continuano a creargli problemi psicologici (Vulvodinia del Pudendo non diagnosticata per circa 10 anni). La stria poi vira in una fiaba che come dicevi te non è a lieto fine.

Aww grazie mille 🥰 ho sentito dire che è stata inspirata dalla sua now ex. In diverse interview Damiano ha detto che anche se è stata inspirata dalla storia di qualcuno che conosce, l’ha scritta perché è un messaggio importante da condividere. Quindi ho deciso di evitare di parlarne, per concentrarmi sul messaggio. Grazie del commento❤️

@@sofiabonixo Se guardi il video di Coraline cantata a Sanremo (lui piange durante e alla fine della canzone perché c'era la sua ex) e guardi le interviste fatte dopo lo dice. Comunque hai fatto bene a non dirlo nella reazione, io te l'ho detto perché non sapevo se sapevi.

Excellent analysis! Damiano has also said that he wants his lyrics to be interpreted by the listener in their own personal way. So the focus should not be on the exact reason Damiano wrote the lyric or exactly what his story is, but instead on how the person listening can identify their own feelings and experiences to feel the song. He described this as the Art, when one song can have multiple reactions with similar emotions by different people with unique stories. So when I heard the song for the first 10 times I also cried. The song is a masterpiece!
