Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. I lived in AZ for 15 years. I started out as a travel nurse up on the Navajo Nation. Such amazing people up there and I loved my patients. Monsoon season is great! I then lived in Flagstaff and loved the skiing, hiking and coffee shops there. I ended up living in Phoenix for a few years and the driving was intense! Driving a manual transmission in traffic like coming down the canyon into New River was a leg workout.But I loved all the things to do in the Phoenix area and there was a better dating pool. The desert is beautiful especially full moon hiking. Sedona is amazing except for the traffic and litter in and around Sliding Rock. Truly though a unique community! The last place I lived was in Yavapai county in Yarnell sweet little town in the boulders. I wish I was still in Arizona, I miss the diversity of the state ( people, climate, landscape). I guess what I would say is I get concerned about water so I would say if you are planning to come to Arizona, plan on doing your part to conserve water. Also be polite and kind. I ❤AZ!

I moved to AZ from NM 4 years ago. Got cheap land and I'm building my place - got the land just before the prices started going up. I'm not advertising where I am - it's rural and kind of empty - more livestock than people and all that. People like it that way. We drive to the bigger towns for bigger shopping and business. It's for people who don't want cities or suburbs. If most people prefer the areas around Phoenix, enjoy! The cities and big towns do have the advantage of lots of jobs. 🙂We have a lot of people moving here from other states. Many people stay, some end up leaving. No HOAs, a little county and state interference, but not heavy. People are very independent and self-reliant around here, and a lot of people have been here for generations. However, anybody who comes in, minds their own business, and treats people right is accepted. It's not that much different than rural west NM where I came from, so there wasn't any culture shock.

12.23.2023 Way back in the '60's, I remember visiting my paternal g-parents who lived in Phoenix, I believe. Then in the mid-60's, my parents divorced & we moved to Phoenix for about 1 & 1/2 years. Then my siblings were moved back to our mid-west state. After that, when I became a teenager, I visited my Mom in a few different places during summer school break. Tucson, Marana & the last place that she lived was Chandler. I loved visiting her & loved the Arizona scenery & climate. The main reason why I didn't stay/live there as an adult, is cuz I had met my future husband in my home state & he didn't want to move. But I've always had very fond memories of Arizona. ❤

Spent so much time in the Phoenix area I feel like Arizona is my second home. Owned a home in Scottsdale. Actually live in Denver area but used to visit my Uncle in Sun Lakes, my son went to ASU, and now lives in Mesa. Coming down for a couple of weeks for some warmer weather. I agree with one thing. The driving in Phoenix freaks me out and Denver is horrible with driving anyway. Be very careful with the heat. My Uncle used to say 'Time for Water, Everyone get your glass of ice water'. Great thing about Phoenix in the hotter months is that you get the dessert breeze. Haven't experienced 120 degrees but up here in Colorado when we have a hundred degree day we have no breeze and when you go out on your patio for any reason the heat hits you like a pizza oven.

Funny we didn't have all these mental health problems until we had all these drugs, prescribed or bought on the street and equally funny the more mental health drugs big pharma invents the more new mental health problems we have. I'm seventy-five and have watched this unfold and all my friends my age who have not used drugs agree and everyone I know who got into drugs one way or the other have gotten into trouble as opposed with those of us who did not get into drugs and did not get into trouble. For my money it is a drug problem not a mental health problem.

I would have got in an accident there if I didn't have a new car with automatic emergency stopping. The biggest problem with driving there is people don't keep a steady pace. Lots of random heavy braking, acceleration or inconsistent speed. I hate driving in LA but I learned to keep a consistent speed and you won't have any issues unless you get stuck in the traffic hours. In Phoenix it's like gas pedal or brakes. No in between.

I worked a project in Mass 20 years ago and the driving traffic circles between worcester and boston seemed to bring out aggressiveness in the drivers. Gesturing, loud cussing, flippin off, tailgating, honking , wtf. With AZ plates why would they think I know where all the state route numbers would go to at moving at 45mph. Maybe knowing loaded weapons are not permitted within drivers access had something to do with it. Maybe it's the state subsidy for bad driver insurance rates

I agree because that's why I had to leave San Francisco. All these people that came to California in the 70's changed the state from what I grew up in. I retired to Peoria 5 years ago and I not going to try to change anything but I vote my beliefs.

Great show. I have a comment about windshield replacement. Because I used the same insurance company for maybe 20years I never knew that even if you pay extra for windshield replacement option your insurance might not effect you if you keep the same insurance but, because my insurance jumped from 250 each month to about 500 and there was nothing they could be done I switch insurances. In the process I contacted several and I noticed they came with some accident report that in my view was wrong, I had no accidents for more that 5 years and they keep telling me I had 2 or 3 on my records, till I found the best cost effective insurance and asked what those accidents came from, they told me that windshield replacement is considered a claim and is what counted to set the quote. So, in my view seem is better to not get windshield replacement insurance, and hold as long you can with the crack and pay out of your packet, may places charge 150 to replace the windshield, that is probably 3 renews of 6 months each and no accident charged to your account, which defect your rate even more ( again that probably will effect you when you look for new insurance).

Now I am wintering in AZ and am constantly being told how unwelcome I am being from out of state. It's a free country folks. People from all backgrounds, ideas and places. Be kind and get along.

Homeownership is definitely worth it to avoid rising rental increases each year and to make retirement more comfortable with a paid off home. A lot of HOA fees in the southeast valley are about $88-$150. Mines $110 in a popular single family home community-comparable to most of the neighborhoods around me in QC (with upkeep, parks, courts and a community pool). Id have a hard time agreeing to paying anything higher unless it was GUARD gated. Those HOA fees you mentioned seem really high. If that's a condo thing...I'd avoid those 🥴

Dec 23. 2023 I came down to visit in 2018 and I loved how clean the streets were . Now in 2023 the streets are full of garbage everywhere. So they need to hire street cleaners . Also they need an( indoor )giant mall like the Scottsdale fashion here near the Cardinal Stadium. It does lack allot of more green trees not eucaliptus trees they are messy. And why people love California is because they have more amusement parks . Here you have a hard time renting because they require 3 times the rent which is ridiculous because the rent here is high . That's way I like South Carolina renting is cheaper and honestly more friendly . I can't blame the People who live in Arizona all there life for not being friendly they get allot of hot summers .
