Language Trivia Time! "Coin de la bouteille" means "corner of the bottle" or "the bottle corner", which is pretty descriptive... "Coin" ("corner") is pronounced like a mix between "quack" and "pan"... though I suspect any french speakers seeing this comment might consider that mildly insulting.

I really like the French pack. It's elegant!! Adds such a different flavor to the game. I'm a huge fan of Art Deco and it does remind me a bit of it. Nice place to build Biffa!! Right with Notre Dame!! 🤩 I can't wait for the other packs now!

Hey great Build, the French pack is really good, but! its a shame they didn't have low density housing and Commercial so that if you want to build a whole French city you could. You have to build a town somewhere on a map and use the default building so you can fill the demand for them. I hope the next packs have that sorted.

I recently visited the French Quarter in New Orleans Louisiana and I can say that it looks nothing like the French assets in the game. Turns out the "French" architecture is inspired by french architecture. It's still pretty nice though. I wish they would have given us some French parks with statues and fountains.

I hope if/when they do a Japanese one, they include the basic Japanese street: a single-lane, two-way street that pedestrians can walk on, with pedestrian-only shoulders marked off only by striping. They do have big multi-lane, car-focused roads with defined sidewalks in Japan (particularly in downtown commercial areas) but those little mixed-mode alleys are everywhere in Japan, even in expensive areas. Japanese-style zoning would be cool too but I'm not holding my breath. There's a great Not Just Bikes video called "The Secret to Japan's Great Cities" on both topics. They do things very differently. Also a Japanese-style city wouldn't look right without little vending machines to everywhere, but I'm not sure there's a way to make little things like that spawn. Maybe they'd just be details attached to the buildings.

Looks great !! I can't help but think Hamilton highway, leading up to Notre Dame, would be more French if it was sunken. I feel the French would lower the road, thus preserving the aesthetic of the classical buildings and the views of the cathedral.

There’s an interesting article about the schools, if you follow a history of a citizen you will find they spend 3 times longer in elementary, but high school and college they graduate in a month meaning 4 elementary for each highschool and college needed

If you get 3-carriage trams going to the French quarter, you could recolor the carriages so the first is blue, the middle one white and the third one red, to symbolise the vertical colorstripes of the French flag. Question, [12:12] when you take out an appartment building and everyone becomes homeless, then you zone in a similar size building - do the new homeless people get priority moving in there? Or do some new folks still move in from outside the map while your (educated) workers stay homeless and/or move out of the map? And would it make a difference if you paused the game, removed an appartment building and plopped in another appartment building before restarting? So they could still be living in French Boulevard apt.17, but it just looks different now? Or would that still make them homeless.

the buildings look really good but I think they would be better if they were all set as types to match, with the odd one that is different. That is personal preference but the area has to be named "tasse de thé" (cup of tea) or "Le quartier des feuilles de thé" (tea leaf district) or "Le quartier du thé et du café" the tea and coffee district)

Hey Biffa, someone may have mentioned this but just wondering will there be service vehicles that will match the regional packs such as makes and models of vehicles including their types of decals and colours, for example a British ambulance is a Mercedes Box Sprinter Van and it's yellow with green checker squares and in another country there ambulance could be white with an orange stripe down the side so would nice to have regional service vehicles packs. I think it would be great. 😊
