Darwin is making his air crete building. check out how in this video. This cobblestone path is made to an air crete shop.
This is one of KIND! The Honey Do Carpenter invented the foam Mate to inject foam into concrete to make air crete. Air Crete is lightweight, Fire Proof, and bug resistant. We use portland cement mixed with foam to create air crete. It has great insulation qualities and budget friendly. Darwin has also made a mini crane to lift the gables and beams.
What is Darwin Building now and saving money. Check out the video.

Hi, for next project, leave the 1/8” to 1/4” excess cement in place and do not scrape it. Once the stucco coat goes on, it will not be noticeable. Also put a bead of silicone around the perimeter of the window wing for air seal. But overall great job. Congrats.

Darwin. You need to hold your foam cans upside down when you are dispensing it. If you don't, you'll not get all the foam out of the can and it will also not mix properly. Thanks for another great video.

In most places a permit isnt needed if the shed is kept within a certain size requirment. And, to find that out all you have to do is call the city or county. Its not that complex.

Man! Reading some of the comments gave me a headache! I believe a lot of these viewers must have watched this channel for the first time. I believe your experimenting, trying to find the best way to use aircrete for manufacturing. You didn't just say " hey, let's build a shed out back honey. And let's make it labor intensive because we don't have anything else to do." Huh! There are some good comments and criticism though. Pressure treated wood may be the way to go. You've worked with sheet metal before, did you make the forms yourself? I wonder if there is a cheaper alternative like maybe molded plastic. Don't know? Keep up the good fight! Dave H.

I am building an AirCrete dome using this guy's frame/aircrete method but I added 1" tabs to the forms so i can tackweld the triangle forms together once the aircrete cures, then I plan to stucco over the whole thing using fiber-enforced stucco that will seal the joints and add to the look and strength of the dome.

I was interested to see what is unique about this project to make you pre-fab crete forms and erect panels one by one, after watching the whole series I'm more convinced that this is just good youtube entertainment. There's nothing new to be learned here. The shed you built could be erected with conventional framing technique faster & cheaper, a plywood wall would give you more shear strength and your walls would have higher tensile strength than your aircrete panels. Watching you scrape that panel it was apparent that one panel already had cracked. So why you would go through such lengths to do all that is still a mystery to me, other than maybe you're a concrete guy and prefer mixing cement bags than swinging a hammer. But thanks for taking time to video and share your experience with youtube.
@david-1775
@david-1775 5 жыл бұрын
1. Why would you even mention tensile strength? How many houses get pulled apart? Compression strength is FAR more important. 2. Air-crete insulates about as well as spray foam and is an EXCELLENT building material in hot climates. 3. It doesn't burn. 4. Insects don't eat it. 5. It doesn't rot. 6. Last, this is clearly a TESTING stage and can in no way be compared to established building techniques.

Down here we use the non-metric system which is a little confusing when it comes to measurements. What is wrong with using conventional Presstressed Concretes as home building materials? Concretes will not burn and they keep the noise down and durable. All the rest of the world have been using Concretes for building homes for generations and the U.S is the only country with the stupidest construction laws,rules and regulations explaining why they are not allowed to build. Making sure everyone equally suffer from not being able to build whatever types of homes they WANT to build in this expensive economy. And natural diasters such as brush fires, hurricanes and tornatos will keep the plywood homes industry keep rolling. They can't even build shipping container homes on a vacant lot in city limits. Our construction options are behind the 3rd world regulations and good luck living in that dog house.

Then, decided to try a new building technique. This has never been done before. Its great though how all of these armchair warriors will sit on their butts and criticize the guy. And, no. The window isnt in backwards. They look that way because those type windows are meant to site flush with exterior coverings after sheathing, siding, and trim. Great job. I watched some of the earlier vids and was wondering how it was going to come out. My question is what are you planning to do to finish the interior........ maybe just a masonry sealer or what. Also, are you putting electrical in there? Conduit? MC cable? Can you screw directly to the aircrete or do you use Tapcons or what?

Personally, I'm wondering what will happen when the studs rust . While they're galvanized, the moisture within the concrete will still eventually corrode them. While I really like the idea of using them as forms, I think they should be taken off. Flip them around and use them as vertical mold wall. Then peel them and reuse them.

This seems like a well thought out project. I don’t know the kind of weather you have there. The slabs you made reminded me of slabs I have seen in other projects. AAC (autoclave aerated concrete) is a great thermal insulator, and roof slabs made of AAC will time shift the heat release from daylight to nighttime. This reduces the amount of required insulation depending on the local climate. AAC is used by hotel chains like Holiday Inn due to the energy savings it provides both in cold or hot climates. I don’t honestly know the material you used that well, but I am assuming it shares some similar properties.
