It's also entirely possible "Mother" was misdiagnosed with asthma. I "had" asthma as a child. None of the treatments ever did jack for me and apparently I had to be hospitalized repeatedly for it (although this is long before I have any memories of anything). Turns out it's more likely that I was allergic to cigarette smoke and both my parents were typical heavy orange-shag-carpet-in-the-basement smokers in the 80s. Because if I even get a whiff of that garbage in the breeze when I'm walking down the street I'm in for a coughing fit. I'm getting the sense that allergies misdiagnosed as asthma is a common thing. So good job, Jack and "Son", you killed that woman with lies. Unless, of course, they're happy to admit to God's incompetence...?

People can "grow out of" asthma. Obviously idk about your in case but most people have it worse when they're little but after their lungs have grown they have lesser or even no signs at all of asthma remaining. @@RalphRoberts1 Yeah, it's almost like _medicine_ is complicated and some fat charlatan whose only life skills are waving a dumb book around and telling really obvious lies to incredibly gullible people might not be the best-qualified to declare illnesses magically gone because of a fairy's spells, or something. I obviously have no way of knowing if I was really misdiagnosed as a kid; it's not like I can go back in time and get re-tested. It's just an inference based on a lot of little factors, including one doctor who took a look at my situation and suggested that it was the case. S'why medicine is best left to _doctors,_ though, and always with the understanding that even doctors get things wrong sometimes, so bullshit artists who promise magical cures should NEVER be trusted. The main point is, Jack and the sheep killed that woman dead as sure as if they'd locked her in a hotel room and let her starve to dea oh wait that's a thing Scientology did I got confused for a second there since it's exactly the same.

I have a former ship mate who's mother was deeply religious. One day she fell ill, and went to a fake healer there near her home there in Tx. He got emergency leave and went home to be with her. His sister told him what had happened, much the same as the story you read. She passed away three days after the fake healing, thinking all the time stopping her meds for the cancer she had was the answer. He told me the cause of death was her heart, and this was because one of the meds was for her heart and stopping it caused massive failures. Several months later he went home to visit his sister and her family. He said "I noted when I entered the house they lived in that all the religious things were gone." The reason given was "When religion cultists can claim my mother life and I cannot sue them for that, I have no reason to believe in that cult anymore." It has been many years, he and I are somewhat in contact. He and his sister moved out of 'CCTX' as he called it, she in Oregon he in Idaho. it took me several months to get the meaning of CCTX = Christian Contaminated Texas. Peace

To say mum was pissed at them is understatement and she told them so, life had become painful. She was nobodies fool, lived a good long life and was ready for the inevitable. I miss her, I still talk to her (in my head) from time to time and count my blessings that she was our mum. Great exposure! I grew up in Belfast Northern Ireland in the 1960/70s and there was a famous Faith healer called Leslie Hale around at that time. My aunt attended his meetings and was totally enthralled with him and his spurious claims of healing powers. In the mid 1980s, Hale went bankrupt and fled to Florida owing millions! He had collected funds for his, Faith Tabernacle, but it ended up as nothing more than a tin shed. Many people threw money at Leslie Hale and went bankrupt along with him. My aunt still believed in him, despite clear evidence of his fraudulent and criminal behaviour! Hale was a con artist, but the foolish still wanted to believe in him no matter what! Keep up your good work in exposing these charletans!

It really is just *so saddening & disheartening* to know that such viciously insipid & emotionally-blinded beliefs have existed for so long, and continue to persist, through which people take advantage of the ill, the frightened, and the desperate. In the case of most believers, the beliefs themselves are largely forgivable & excusable (they were indoctrinated after all), but for those at the top of the money-grubbing ladder... they have no justifiable & defensible excuse, and they ought not be forgiven either.

Legal dope ain't no better than the illegal stuff, just say no to all drugs and toughen up gettin old ain't for wussies LOL. I'm not running up a medical bill for my fam to have to cover because I don't got insurance, I do have life insurance though and I want my kids to get it, so I ain't going to a doctor to have my problems documented and my life insurance going up or not covering me at all so I do turn to the Lord in prayer in the time of need and He has always taken good care of me, and never billed me a single cent and so much He has pulled me through no glory to any drug dealer, just God. Thing is that is is not always God's desire to heal when WE want it, Paul an apostle prayed for the Lord to remove a thorn from him and God did not saying that His grace is sufficient. But more oft than not people don't have real faith in Jesus Christ, they usually believe on a long haired sinner that the *world* calls a "jesus" but is just a faker and they are fooled thereby and hence when they pray they are praying to devils and not God.

I really like how Holy Kool Aid read this story with an emotion to this guys story. My mother is 72 and has severe COPD, and Emphysema. It's wild to hear this story because my moms sister was on the phone with my mom as she was in the hospital after nearly dying from an episode. But when he was reading the part where she was saying "Jesus, precious Jesus" I mean, I remember my mom looking past everything as her sister prayed with her on the phone, saying that same thing - "Jesus, sweet Jesus, glory to Jesus!" Over and over. But during this time I had the nurses to come in and place this device that helped her breathing. Plus they gave her some medicine for anxiety, because she was stressing her own body, causing herself to panic. My mom and her sister know that I do not give any credit to a deity, and that Im a non believer. I do try and stay away from the atheist label, especially here in Alabama. Only because I can say that I simply don't believe in a god. And that will get less criticism than if I was to call myself an atheist. These people here have a different idea as to what an atheist is. We know that it's just people who don't have any belief in a supernatural deity, and the evidence for one is pretty insufficient, like my funds in my bank account (🥁 Buh dum dum crash! 🥁 ) 😂...😢. Anyway, here in Bama, they think we are demon possessed, ignorant, god hating liberals lol. So as I watch her get her breathing back, of course it was Jesus that did it and not the machine that helped her the previous 2 times. And the direction im going is that this story is hitting home for me, as far as this guys mother. And plus Im not going to stop my mother from wanting to pray or have her sister pray. But when the moment comes and she does take her last breath. I am going to be ready to tell some people in my family how full of shit they are, how hypocrisy is a staple in this family, and that they all have big ass mouths when it comes to being judgmental n' all that bs towards everyone else. Like they've all been the best little Christians and that they KNOW that god is real, Trump was cheated, mexicans are getting our social security, trans people are satans minions, gays are just lost, and ive been fed a bunch of lies. And all I can do right now is laugh so hard at their nonsensical brainwashed woo woo. Cause not once have they sat down and let me show them how critical thinking works, how reality is different from what they're perceiving reality to be. I have no one when it comes to family. Because I cannot lean on them when my mother eventually goes to sleep for good. "Who has lied to you? What makes you think that your mom and all of us wont be together when we die and go to heaven? I know where im going, and if you dont beg for forgiveness son, you'll be screaming in regret, just remember that!" And see, I haven't responded to that question, threat, or whatever it was that sounded like vomit out of a family member's mouth. And I cant wait to let it rip! Anyway, Im sorry I went off on a tangent there. I guess that's how much this story hit home. But I really enjoyed it! Thanks Holy Kool Aid. And dont drink the Cruel Aid.

Because these are people who have been forced to believe in Christianity as children. Children have highly impressionable minds, and instead of letting them grow and think for themselves and make their own choices in their lives, these religious-nutjob parents take that away. All because their afraid God will burn them for using the very free will he gave lmao. The rest are gullible people.

My mom died from cancer when she was 40. When she suspected tumour dad didn’t take her to the hospital at once. Having cancer was considered somewhat awkward and shameful. (Why! I don’t get it!) some time later . Stage 4 cancer is not treatable. I remember a bottle of canned crayfish. It was folk medicine to treat cancer (disease) with cancer (crayfish). In my language it is same word. There were prayers by pastors. My mom died. Many years later I had a discussion with my aunt. She was saying God is real and living because He healed her after car accident, and her grandson from cancer. I just said God didn’t heal my my.( and in my head - hid didn’t heal me from being gay). Man did I have something to listen to! Aunt called me arrogant, impudent . You don’t want to humble myself before God… God doesn’t do miracles on demand!

I’m sorry for your loss. The only thing your aunt was right about is that god doesn’t heal on demand. This could well be due to the fact that god might not exist or is not the kind of being we assume it to be. The irony is that many religious people blame the “victim” if there is no “miracle”, often silently since they can feel they are condemning someone to keep their own faith intact. Moreover: These healers so called need you to believe it’s your own fault. The guilty feeling and de the feeling of failure is what keeps you going to church, making donations and praying your @ss off. Your aunt was even worse: she probably condemned you and your mom so she could feel good about herself and being a good Christian…. In short: she needed to think she deserved her fortune while you deserved your misery…

Got into a debate with a Christian who said prayer works. So I brought up the tornado that ripped through Oklahoma few years back. Remember some kids took shelter in a school basement and drown. Christian: " Prayer works, God answers prayers." Me: " Then why didn't he save the children taking shelter in a school basement from the Oklahoma tornado? They drowned in the basement." Christian: " God does not stop torandoes." Me: " You know the people in that basement prayer to God to save them, not stop a tornado." Christian: " God did answer their prayers. He gave them mercy." Me: " Gave them mercy by drowning them in a basement?" Christian: " You just hate God!!!!!!" Sadly that was an actual chat with a Christian.

I have a lot of experience with patients and/or their family misunderstanding and even completely omitt part of information. Even first hand information, when my mother was in hospital for a heart condition. Without going in to detail, my father and my brother described two different thing, one impossible and the other extremely unlikely with the condition she was in the hospital for (I work as a cardiac nurse, so I have a long career of experience with this particular patient group). And... it turns out, both had misunderstood something when I got first hand information from the medical journals. If I hadn't my expertice and experience, I would most likely had a third (wrong) description of what was happening to her. I have absolutely no clue what's in this womans medical records... if she was free from her asthma and/or her heart condition (whatever the heart condition was) or if one or both of these conditions contribute to her death. I just have the words of a man without medical expertice, recieving information in a state of distress while primed to think his mother was cured from her ailments. It's simply a VERY bad source of information. I'd like to see the actual medical journal of this woman, and I dare to give a pretty good odds on a bet this is a case of misunderstanding information.

You do realize that nurses and doctors on different shifts can tell different people completely different things. (I have caught nurses living to my sister's about my mom's condition before, they literally told me one thing and while I was out smoking I come back in and they have told my sister's something completely different and that's just in a 5 min span.)
@MrDanAng1
@MrDanAng1 Жыл бұрын
@@FelineVillain Yes, that adds to the problem too. One of my pet peeves, that I constantly correct to patients and berate my colleagues for is that they inform patients after a heart attack that they have "fixed it" by open up their coronary arteries with a PCI. It doesn't "fix" the heart attack, it stop and prevent further damage to the heart. In the same as you don't "fix" a cut in a finger by stopping and retracting a knife, or you don't "fix" a hand crushed in a car door by opening the door. So, there is an added source of wrong information which can be sole source of or add to a complete misunderstanding.

I am relgious, and i do believe in jesue christ as our lord, and saviour.... No wonder people aren't religious now a days.... The faith healing, sexism, judgement, threats of violence, taking away peoples rights, and threatning people with hell, and yelling at people on the street isn't doing anything, but make people think were all crazy.... Sure people will always think that, but i am seriously shocked at some of this stuff.... When i was younger i never understood why some people disliked us or would think lesser of us, because we were religios, but as i have gotten older i now see why people have these views.... We need to team up more instead of dividing each other, and also call ourselves out.

What,s interesting is what the Mormon Church has been saying about healing through faith - The Brethren, who for years claimed that priesthood blessing yielded miraculous cures, are now telling members that they ought to have “faith not to be healed”. In fact General Conference talks in the last few years have featured a lot of stories of members dying.

I'm a medical student, and I found it odd that they'd do an autopsy, I don't think they did an autopsy. I think that they asked the doctor if asthma killed her, and the doctor said they don't know for sure. Or something along those lines. From Johns Hopkins: "Autopsies may be done for several reasons, including the following: When a suspicious or unexpected death occurs. When there's a public health concern, such as an outbreak with an undetermined cause. When no doctor knows the deceased well enough to state a cause of death and to sign the death certificate." Caveat being that I do not know why autopsies were done in the past. But, autopsies aren't commonly performed to determine deaths in a hospital. Edit: Apparently, 50 years after death, the cause of death becomes matter of public record. At least in Florida, I assume it is similar in other states. So if anyone wants to find out what caused the death of "mother", they may well be able to do so.
