It sucks how many of the seemingly much better Christians believe in this kinda thing in any amount. I got into an argument with a lady that my wife goes to church with (I don't wanna say friend. She's rude, inconsiderate, etc. In general and my wife and several others just straight up dislike her, I'm not just being mean lol) about Benny Hinn. Even if you believe his repentance was sincere, which I doubt given his history, and even if you don't think he should be in prison for neg. homicide, murder, etc. you can't genuinely argue that a man directly responsible for the deaths of a multitude of people should be allowed to preach at any level. Not without simultaneously showing a lack of real morals or compassion. That's the issue that I have with forgiveness culture. Shit that should absolutely not be forgiven outright somehow does, and they're insulated from legal repercussions.

When I was younger, I went to one of these faith healing churches religiously. Despite going twice a week, every week, for years, the same people were always sick. I too thought "well we just don't have enough faith" and it wasn't until I started questioning things that I realized something wasn't adding up. I remember asking our Sunday School teacher "If God created everything, why would he create a body that can get sick? If he's perfect, wouldn't it make more sense to create a body that can't get sick in the first place?" Of course, I was told "It was because Adam sinned' so then I asked "why would God put Adam in a situation where he could sin in the first place? If God knows everything, he knew Adam and Eve would sin, and knew all of this terrible stuff would happen to us, but he let it happen anyways!" I was told I shouldn't think like that >_>. Ever since then, I've been questioning everything until about 15 years ago, when my grandma prayed without ceasing for her healing, and died from cancer. My Grandma was the most religious person you could ever meet. If we ever brought anyone over, she was always like "are you Christian? Do you go to church? No? Well I'm gonna pray for you anyways." She was also the sweetest woman in the world. She was the living embodiment of that meme where your grandma is giving you money and telling you not to tell your parents. She was wonderful, but she died believing she would be healed until her dying breath. Not once did she curse God, or religion, but I did. I was there when she said her final words. Her last words were "Can I go home now?" We all knew what that meant. Ever since then, I haven't been to church, nor touched my bible. Now that I'm almost 40, I don't blame the people who still believe in this nonsense, but I hate the fact that there are people who will take advantage of people's desperation. Church has largely been on the decline for the past few decades, and I'm happy to see people refusing to give money to these charlatans. However, I don't think religion is all bad. Anything that can help people with a positive outlook on life, and give people hope while they are in the middle of despair is a good thing. But faith healing is no way to live. In fact, my Mom was always one to say that God is the one who helps doctors with their knowledge, and helps scientists make medicine. She was an avid believer in modern medicine and faith healing, she always combined the two. This video brought back some memories I hadn't thought about in a long time, and I want to say thank you for that. I do hope more people stop falling for faith healing, and hopefully people like Jack Coe, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and the rest of them go the way of the dinosaurs.

I'm not religious, but I think we need to remember that most churches do not practice faith healing. It's almost exclusively a Pentecostal thing. The Bible also clearly warns to beware false prophets who appear as sheep but within are ravenous wolves. False prophets like Jack Coe, Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, The Copelands, and Mike Murdoch. The last thing I would say is it sounds like your wonderful grandma and mother understood/understand one thing: No religion ever has promised a life of peaches and cream. And just because you lost your faith in your religion doesn't mean God doesn't exist. It just means your religion was wrong. Perhaps another religion is right. Perhaps organized religion is wrong. Or maybe each one of them are like rivers flowing towards one Supreme Being or Truth that we cannot possibly comprehend.

Aw honey, if God is everything, EVERYTHING, then God is all things good and what we see as bad too. Evil is only in peoples minds and actions. If an animal did something we as humans would call evil, is it still "evil"?? No, of course not. What if God loves the WORLD, not just people. Every living thing is loved by God. We matter as much as animals and plants and every thing on Earth. If we could understand this we would treat every thing as important, not just humans and the things we like. The world would be very different that way. If we respected ourselves, as well as everything that God created, we would be better off. God created life in God's image, NOT JUST PEOPLE.

As an ambulatory wheelchair user, thank you for the open acknowledgement that we exist! We’re actually a massive percentage of all chair users but people tend to forget about us. @lsmmoore1
@lsmmoore1 Жыл бұрын
And if there wasn't a whole lot of internalized ableism among a lot of folks with mobility issues, the number of ambulatory wheelchair users would be even higher. And the only thing that would lower that number would be easier and cheaper access to exosuit technology (which is still a mobility aid, btw, so it's still something that would usually be associated with disabled people, and exosuits wouldn't be useful to those who have issues with standing too long, period, regardless of whether they have assistance or not).
@rudra62
@rudra62 Жыл бұрын
People simultaneously ignore the (partially) ambulatory users of wheelchairs and other mobility aids, while at the same time some people *insist* that you can walk an arbitrary distance without the wheelchair or other mobility aid. I ran into that a lot while using a walker while recovering from a badly broken leg! "You can walk (in there) without your walker. We can't have you in there with your walker because (reasons)." Heck, I even ran into this while attempting to visit someone in a hospital! Yes, one which was evidently not ADA compliant. I ran into it as well in a hotel, where I'd reserved a handicapped-accessible room - which was on the second floor! "Well, OTHER PEOPLE can just walk up the stairs..." Yes, reported - both to the State and Federal governments. My Mom ran into this in the 1960s - long before the ADA. I thought we'd maybe learned something over the years, but we haven't.

This. I use a cane normally and a wheelchair when something requires walking for an incredibly long time, like at a zoo or theme park. I’ve gone to the grocery store before, swung my cane in to the cart, pushed the cart 2 steps, and suddenly had some random old man and his wife yell at me for “faking a handicap” because I’m not using a cane now that I want to shop and spend the taxpayers money. I didn’t even bother pointing out that I don’t get any kind of government income (not that it should matter if I did), but when they paused for breath I pointed out that the cart was shaped like a giant walker and provided _more_ stability and support than the cane, so _of course_ I would opt for the cart! I walked away saying “maybe think before hopping down a stranger’s throat!” The misconceptions surrounding disability and disabled people is MASSIVE.
@rudra62

@@Annie_Annie__ Yes. Isn't it weird that the belief is anyone with a (partial) mobility impairment is receiving disability payments from the government? It's not true much of the time. Then, when they see someone working with a mobility problem, they'll say, "Oh, you're so BRAVE!" and "I'll bet if you got some therapy or some faith you wouldn't need that cane/crutch/wheelchair/walker."

Awesome work. Not sure if the humor was intentional, but the 'last word' you let Coe have at the end of your video was poetic justice. Him telling women "you make me sick" because they dared to have a small bit of sanity-preserving fun in their otherwise oppressively structured 1950s lives was laughably ironic. Since getting 'sick' was the only thing that kept this evil monster from hurting and stealing from people until he died of old age, I have to raise a drink to all those bridge-playing housewives who, through their humble little actions, made Coe's disgusting words come true for the benefit of all. Bravo!

Break ups are so very difficult. Allow yourself to feel the pain. And being depressed is normal. Let yourself cry, get angry and sleep. It's all part of the normal healing process. It will get better- slowly, but it does fade. One great thing to do is to force yourself to go for a walk in a serene area at least every other day. It's amazing how therapeutic walking is. Stop and notice the beauty of the trees or the song birds or the water or the squirrels. I learned some of this in therapy after a horrible breakup in my mid 20s. I spent the first 2 weeks on my sister's couch drinking tequila and smoking like 2 packs of Marlboroughs a day. I went down to 85lbs(I was only 105 to start. ) My family got me into therapy. I'd gone through many breakups b4 but that was a killer one. You will get through this. Unfortunately, this is a normal human experience in life. Most ppl have been through it. You're not alone!

@@cjk8249 I am an evangelical Christian; not a Roman Catholic. According to a secular newspaper there was a French Canadian woman living in Quebec who was told in 2018 that she had stage 4 cancer. Her doctors told her to prepare for her death. With nothing to lose she went to Saint Anne deBeaupre. That is the Quebec equivalent to Lourdes. She prayed for healing and her cancer went into remission. I do not believe that proves that the Roman Catholic Church is the only true church. But it does prove that God answers prayer and can heal.

Hi, Thomas. It's good to see you online again! I'm sorry that you've had to experience depression and the loss of a relationship. I know that can be extremely difficult, and it can totally deplete emotional resources. You did a great job with this video. I'm still amazed at how many people allow themselves to be scammed by today's versions of Jack Coe. I guess desperate people will try to cling to whatever they can find that gives them even the slightest bit of hope. It's sad. And thank you for adding your "teaser" into the video, too. Rather than go into detail, I'll just say you are looking great! I hope happiness and health will find their way to you. You certainly deserve it for all the positive contributions you make. I have been watching your videos for a long time - probably ever since you started making them in cartoon form way back when. They have helped me a lot.

I recently lost faith in fundamental pentecostal christianity, thank you for your videos. :) Finally I am free from fake feelings of guilt for "sins". Last Sunday I visited church which I attended (only because of people, unfortunately I was christian 12 years and I have only 2 friends who are normal) and after that I went for a lunch with people from church, they talked approximately one hour about legen...stories about miracles of Smith Wigglesworth, Kuhlman and Bonnke. I was like them too, thinking that it would be possible for me to do same miracles if I pray enough. Unfortunately reality is different from that fantasy world. It brings only frustration and after death of near person depression. (sorry for bad English)
