Way to go Fitzy! Catching some fish and cleaning up the water. Nicely done without your net. Great spot with ducks chillin, not stressful at all.😎❤️👍😂

Haha thanks Mike. Those ducks were my little buddies that day. Hung out with me a lot, even walking into the bivvy a few times. I think they were snacking on the crumbs from my pack bait 🤣

Thanks Magic. The sling got the job done, fortunately. I thought I might have to repack the car, go home and get the net lol. That was a nice channel cat. I should have got a weight on him.

Oh oh pulled one of my moves and forgot an important item but from what I hear, Marines make do so I’m pretty sure you’ll be ok. Double Trouble right off the bat. Improvising using the sling as a net ….thats what I’m talking about…. making do. Got some beauties in the high teens. Even that cat was a nice one. Yeah buddy…broke 20 . Awesome job pal ! Glad the storms stayed away.

Another great video! Over the few years I’ve been carp fishing I’ve made a check list of everything i need before going and I check it twice lol. Nothing like driving 45 mins away just to find out I forgot my dang bait!

Lol I need to start doing that. It's a bummer forgetting a critical piece of equipment. I kayak fish a lot and have forgotten my paddle on a couple of occasions, 40+ minutes from home. After having unloaded everything from the car haha. Thanks Zach!

Forgetting an essential piece of equipment can be such a headache, but at least you were able to catch fish. You made it work though!

Luckily that sloped area was there for landing them in the sling. Otherwise, I might have had to repack the car, go home and get the net. The wall is a couple of feet above water. Would have been near impossible landing anything from there without a net. Thanks brother!

Haha I did! Nice not having to rebait the method lead!
@michicarp4 ай бұрын
hey fitzy, i was wondering if you tend to prebait these spots or just go for it. i’ve found it really difficult on larger waters to “find” fish without a lot of consistent prebaiting.
@AmericanCarpAngler4 ай бұрын
I've never personally prebaited a spot, though I have fished the same spot multiple times within a short period and that acts like prebaiting. This particular location actually gets a fair amount of carp anglers, so it keeps the fish in the area I think. A lot of times though, I go in blind and hope for the best or go to a spot where I've had success before in the past. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Thanks Philip!

Awesome video sir! I am still trying to catch my first carp! How well does your packed bait stay on the hook? Mine keeps falling off after a while, any advice?
@zacharyengle43944 ай бұрын
Typically if your bait is falling off your lead/hook it means your pack bait is too dry and or your trying to cast a mile. Corn syrup is a good alternative to keep with you when fishing if bait is too dry. Also, test your pack bait before going. Form a normal ball and throw it in water and make sure it starts to break down around a minute or so.

@@zacharyengle4394 Thanks man I will try that! Appreciate it!!
@michicarp4 ай бұрын
honestly u just gotta keep messing with your ingredient ratio until the consistency is good. you want it easy to pack, dry enough that it doesn’t slide off, but wet enough that is doesn’t flake or crumble.
@AmericanCarpAngler4 ай бұрын
Lots of good advice here. Just my personal opinion, but the ratio I use seems to work pretty well at being the right consistency (42-44 ounces of Quaker Instant Oates, 2 cans of sweet cream corn and 2 packets of Jello). I halve that recipe if I'm only going out for a few hours. I make it that morning or the night before, so by the time I get setup to fish, it's had a little time to set. If it dries out on you, you can add some river or lake water to it, to goop it up a bit. I love the idea of having some corn syrup on hand to use.
