Great video showing how to successfully get into Carp fishing without spending a bunch of money. Beautiful day to be sitting on the river. I’ve got everything I need except for a local spot that has Carp. One thing I’ve always said about NY is that even though I will never move back there, the State has some awesome fishing no matter what species you want to go after. Beautiful fish ! I love how you take such care of a fish that really is looked down upon….. Respect ! Good stuff buddy !

Yeah Don, I've really grown to appreciate a fish that I admittingly once looked down on. They really are an incredibly beautiful and hard fighting fish and I regret that I did start fishing for them sooner. But better late than never I suppose. I wish you had some carp waters nearby so you could give it a shot. I think you'd like it. Maybe in the near future we can get together and I'll put you on some. Thanks buddy.

Great video Fitzy! I have come across bow slayers as well. They blow- I have not found another person fishing for Carp, but at one of our city ponds where I like to frequent, I am beginning to see interest growing. On Saturday mornings, people line up behind me to see the monsters that are in there. Some folks want to buy them, so just want to take a picture. Thanks for sharing your insight and tips. Tight lines ❤️🙏😎👍

Thanks Michael! Yeah, it's a damn shame about the bow hunters. Maybe interest in this fish for sport fishing catch and release will grow. I think a lot of people just don't understand how hard fighting they are and beautiful.

Love watching the vids. Hope you and other US carp KZbinrs can educate more to the amazing fishing carp can give. With the size of the waters over there and the conditions you could get some massive sizes with the right care and attention. Keep it up mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks you sir. They are a wonderful sport fish. both beautiful and hard fighting. Hopefully the sport for catch and release of them grows here in the US. It really is an untapped sport here.

Very simple set up, you can sing along with the bear from Jungle Book, "Bare Necessities". One bait I used to use, which I'm surprised I haven't seen mentioned on any Carp videos, is peanut butter dough balls. I would make a thick peanut butter sandwich, knead it into a big ball, and pinch off pieces to put on a hook.

I might have to give the peanut butter bread balls a try Russell! I like simple and effective.

Awesome video! I have been having slow dats the last couple of weeks. I think it's the imitation corn I am using. I haven't had time to put into making quality bait, but I made a big batch of several flavors Monday. So hopefully my fishing picks up. If anyone cares, usung the canned sweet corn is going to be better than imitation ... lol.

Another banger, mate. I dont get the people that bow these fish. Don't cost a lot to carp care like u said. In the uk, we spend a fortune because we be on the bank for like 24 hrs. 48hrs so on. I mean, I watch people that go bass fishing and would spend 40 grand on a boat just to catch like 8lb bass. Wouldn't recommend putting g a stopper on inline led/sinker , tho. I keep mine free running justin case u break off in a snag. If u break off in a snag n that sinker/led that fish is a good as dead. Alot of pur rules in the uk are carp care. Like rig tubbing. Free running leds. No leaders. And some antiseptic stuff for the scales and mouth. You can use whatever cheap gear. I'm what you call a tackle tart, lol. You got some bangers on that ugly stick mate. Loads of amricans are actually getting into catch and release carp. I mean you guys have some really special carp in your waters. Can't go wrong with corn n bred. Smashing vlog buddy.
@AmericanCarpAngler5 ай бұрын
Thanks Spoony! I guess any sport or hobby can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it. Part of the fun of a hobby, is the gear. The inline bobber stop slides off pretty easy, so if it did cut or break above the stop and the lead got hung up, it would easily slide the bobber stop off and the lead would follow. It is a shame about the bow hunting for them. But like you, I am noticing more catch and release carp anglers. They are such an awesome sport fish to chase after. Thanks again brother!

Hey fitzmagic awesome video have you ever tried the real corn on a hair rig with the pack bait didn't know how well real corn would stay on hair rig or do you think it works better on regular hook. Love all the videos.
@AmericanCarpAngler4 ай бұрын
Thanks, Allen, and no sir, I haven't, but I'm thinking it would work. Not sure how well it would stay on the hair rig, but after using it on just the hook with no pack bait the other time, I might have to try it.

Just another comment about cheap gear. Ugly Stick makes a two piece 9" medium rod that is great for carp fishing in my opinion. Does it give the action of a top notch Daiwa or Nash? Nope, of course not, but it's affordable and tough. If you are like me, I'm kind of rough on gear and these cheaper options are just fine. I pair mine with 5000 or 6000 sized KastKing baitrunners. Both rods and reels can easily handle 30lb carp all day. EDIT: Just noticed that poison ivy behind you in the last shot.... ;)
@AmericanCarpAngler5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have some cheap rods/reels that I use I certain trips where I and the spot I'm fishing is gonna be rough on my gear. And I never have any serious issues bringing them in. The high end stuff is fun to use but isn't necessary and it's fun bringing them in on some lighter rods. Thanks for the info Mike! Haha I'm a poison ivy magnet. I always seem to setup near some lol.

Carp fishing this year I recently just got into it. I use a St Croix BassX rod(had this rod for ages and never used it) paired with shimano nexave 4000. $150 for the setup If brand new. 40lb main line with 65lb leader. Have yet to use it. But, have had success with atleast 5-10lb carp with my st croix legend tournament bass and Shimano Curado dc. lol.

Great video - as always! QQ: Did I see correctly that you only have 640 Subscriptions??? If so, something is def wrong in the YT universe🤔 You should have at least 10k cause you offer a ton of educational and entertaining content geared toward Carp anglers in the USA - where there’s almost nothing available. Congrats on the Mirror!!! Like you, I’ve only caught one (fly fishing in the Delaware River). I believe they're normally caught in rivers in the US. - Joe

Thanks so much Joe! I appreciate the comment and I'm so glad you enjoy the videos. The fact that anyone enjoys them makes it all the worthwhile for me to make them. A carp on a fly rod would be so cool. Might have to try that in the future. Was that an "accidental" catch for you?

@@AmericanCarpAnglerYes, I caught it while I was fly fishing for Small Mouth! It fought like crazy for 10-15 minutes. The whole time I had him on I was convinced I had a potential PA record SM on my line,until he got close, and I realized it was “only” a carp. To be honest I was really bummed😤 I have to admit, at the time, I was one of those knuckleheads who considered carp trashfish. That is, until I took a moment to calm down, and realized a “carp” just gave me an unbelievable fight similar to the Salmon and Steelhead I caught on the fly in Upstate NY. I was hooked on carp fishing from that moment on. No more thinking of carp as trash fish👍. Now I’m addicted🙃 - Joe

@josephquinn7356 awesome Joe! I too used to view them as trash fish until a few years ago when I hooked into one throwing a rubber hellgramitte on a 5.5 foot ultralight rod and battled him for 10 mins to bring him in. Awesome fight and from that moment on I decided I needed to start fishing for these beautiful and powerful fish. And I'm addicted to it now 😊
