I live on the Oregon coast. Use this knot constantly for heavy weight, improved clinch just breaks right off with the cast. Gotta love the uni. Y’all should come fish the Pacific for some monster lings sometime it’s a blast!

Also amazing to use when tying a leader, double uni knot. It's what I use when sea fishing with lures and never had one fail on me.

Think I still prefer the Palomar knot honestly.
@pdm12896 ай бұрын
The downside of Palomar Knot is it 8% weaker than the Uni Knot. Normal days of fishing that doesn’t matter. But when you big fish, it means the difference of landing that bigger fish or not. And don’t get me wrong, I still prefer tying the Palomar because it is easier and cleaner to tie.
@Letizia4813 Жыл бұрын
A lot of times when I am tying a uni on heavier mono it gets kind of kinked at the top when I cinch it down even if I wet it really good with spit and cinch slowly. Any ideas how to lessen that kinking?

I gather, from watching several videos, that it doesn't matter whether you make the loop on the standing side or the tag side. Everybody seems to just continue on into the loop in the direction of the curvature of the line.

I do two things to my knots. First, I put the line through the eyelet twice befor starting the knot thereby spreading the pressure at the eyelet over two lengths of line instead of one. Second, I put a small drop of superglue on the knot so it cannot slip. The line will break befor the knot breaks or slips with these two steps. Enjoy!
