These are hands down our favorite pieces of clothing! Crafted from 100% wool, knitted, woven, and sewn by hand right here in Sweden. Simply use code "Kalle" at checkout to get a 15% discount: bit.ly/3Zge3GO

I really love everything you are telling about, was convinced of buying a piece. But those clothing items are sooo pricey. Even with the discount code unfortunately. For a normal job this isn't durable in my opinion.

I can see why the sweatshirts & hoodies are pricier seeing as they're 100% wool. When I think of 100% wool, I don't think "soft", but they look super comfortable. I also like the long-sleeve shirt you're wearing in the beginning of the video too.. And I REALLY like the oven you two had put in!! It's great seeing you baking that bread in it.. Looking forward to the cookbook. 🍅🥔🥬🍞🍗

I also understand why they are pricey but for 400 euros for a hoodie you need to make substantial money. :)

They are beautiful, but way beyond the price range of many living in the UK. It’s probably worth it, but many would not pay more than £70 I would suggest for a hoodie.

Hey guys i have seen some videos about the chicken taking care of the vegetation themselves. It depends how hardy the plants on the plot are but they usually flatten a lot out themselves. Maybe they can do some of the work for you? Maybe that helps... maybe it wont but it might be worth a try. :) good luck!

'Mossy Bottom' is the name of a you tube channel by Daniel, right now he's in Finland but started his homestead In the West of Ireland. He does some wonderful things regarding his animals and chickens. Check him out and go back to his earlier days in Ireland. He built the coop so it could move around as Kalle said. Its great because the chicken poop is great fertilizer. I always enjoy your videos. And I was so touched by your last one. Its wonderful to see your little lad and Christine so happy and healthy. It was such a trying time for all of you. Blessings to you all.

It's hard to focus on your content, Kalle, when baby August is in the shot: he's such a bundle of sweetness and cuteness! Have you ever heard of homestead farming expert Joel Salatin who has written many fine books on how and where to raise chickens, plant a garden, have a dairy cow on ur own property? He uses chick-shaws that are used to move the chickens around as they live out doors. KZbinr Justin Rhodes follows Joel's ideas quite literally on his homestead in North Carolina. The cover for the cookbook is beautifully done! Congratulations! Looking forward to 'Our Journey Home" --perfect for your family. Much love

Hi Kalle and Christine - what a wonderful journey is unfolding for your family 😊 I cannot wait to see what is next with the garden, with the changing seasons, with little August growing so quickly... I have been a follower of your story for several years now all the way from Australia. I have German roots and Europe, or should I say the North, has been calling me for quite some time now. Ever since I stumbled across your channel when I was still in school, and now working remote, it brings me a sense of peace and hope that I may be capable to live a similar life. Of simple joys, slow days in deep connection to nature and authentic human connections and culturally rich experiences. Your birth story touched me deeply - seeing you share so vulnerably with us such a life-changing chapter is truly humbling and inspiring ❤ Each video has helped me through hard times and beautiful times, both an escape and a sense of belonging - I am sure your community will continue to grow beyond 300,000 followers very soon! I'd love to see how you prepare, film, and edit a video. I've recently bought a camera mainly for photography but would like to try filming as well. I'd love to learn how you go about the process Kalle. Sending love and warm hugs from Down Under ☺ Hannah

You should have the chicken run close to your ‘gårdstun’ i promise it will make sense in the winter. You will need to tend to them every day and the closer they are the less back and forth. And you will not hear them in the house if Thats what you are afraid of. We have chickens in coops on two sides of the house less than 5m from the house. Ideally i’d place them 15 m. From the house. No more than 25m walk from the door. That should be its ‘winter’ spot. If you make a portable/movable coop with integrated house you can move it around when it isn’t wintertime.
@danielfeidal
@danielfeidal 2 ай бұрын
Ps we have two coops with about 20 chickens and some ducks in each Coop/run. Our chickens have access to a greenhouse tunnel in the wintertime. So they have a dry, somewhat warmer place to ‘play’. Your Coop could connect to a greenhouse. Say you use free trampolines from blocket to set up a tunnel structure and cover it with tunnel film/plastic it should be located near to your house for ease of access and use. Then park your mobile chicken Coop in conjunction with it for the wintertime.

Just discovered your channel & am liking it very much! I follow a channel called Living Traditions Homestead & they raise chickens and have developed some very clever ~hoop coops~ & a ~chicken moat~ where the chickens and ducks can free range around the moat. The coops are able to maintain thru the winter where they can have some pretty good snowstorms! Keep up the good work!😊...Always, Hope

The best place for the chickens is alongside the vegetable patch. Before planting they can forage over the plot and clear the slugs and snails. Incidentally, they love fruit, blackberries, strawberries, and scraps from the kitchen. 😊

Have you ever thought of setting up a greenhouse to extend your growing season? I've also seen people move their chicken houses/coops around with ATVs, where the chicken coops are on skiffs or sled treads and have screens on the bottom, so the chicken poop drops into the soil. The chicken droppings enrich the soil and then then the farmer may move the chicken house in various places on a property every couple of months and rake the chicken droppings into the soil.

During the months that you don't have a garden, you can keep your movable chicken house in the garden and utilize all their poop for wonderful fertilizer. You will need a fence if you have free range chickens. They will eat up your veggies. We had to put up a 5ft fence with 1 wire going around the top to make it 6ft tall, to keep out the deer and chickens. 😂😂😂 beautiful animals but they can destroy a garden. Growing your own food and raising your own animal's is wonderful. We love it.

They scratched and picked it to death so that might be a great way to get your property cleaned up some..lol..August is growing so fast. I love his name because I was born in the month of August!...maybe a goat or two would help clear some bushes and brush from your property also...I think a tv series will be awesome. Can't wait to see what you both will be filming together. Maybe contact Mathias and Tova on a portable chicken coupe. I watched him build one. ( talasbuon)? Probably not spelled correctly. August, is a beautiful addition to your ever growing family 💛 I have had chickens for years now and two things I have learned is not to put them to far from the house, they are not to noisy and in the heat of summer they never smell. As a suggestion I would put them in the middle of your old and new vegetable gardens so they can dig over the patch you are not eating from, rotating the beds. Using a chook tractor is a fabulous idea, to manage them. Good luck with researching !

So nice to see you again, even just for a short video! The bread looks amazing. I love wool, it's sooo comfy! But it does get stinky around the armpits, so I take it to the dry cleaners. Not sure the best way to clean wool honestly. Regarding the chickens... I don't think it's a good idea. I don't have chickens, but you guys live in the forest. There are wild animals like bears, linx elk, foxes, and they might go after the chickens. And then the animals will keep coming back again and again. Plus in the winter you'd need to heat the chicken coops. I would be REALLY CAREFUL before you bring any animals out there. PS. You guys need a baby seat for the kitchen lol.

It‘s funny you‘re coming up with the plan to have chickens because I‘m actually working on a project in university about how we can make the egg industry (in Switzerland) more sustainable (and I also want to have chickens one day) Unfortunately I don‘t know too much yet but definetly make sure to buy chickens that would otherwhise get killed. Chickens can get up to 20 years old but already after one year farmers have to replace them because their egg production goes a bit down and the shells are less stable. These chickens would still lay eggs for another fifteen years tho

Kalle, I am so happy for your and your beautiful family! And also for your Journey Home ... collectively and individually. I have one request and it is made with the greatest respect, and from my heart. I think you are such a wonderful, but wonderful person, but a few times in your past videos, I have noticed that you have used your camera a few times in ways that didn't seem to be in full integrity with the person I believe you to be. For instance, I heard Cristine ask you several times in her vulnerable moment (during your absolutely amazing sled-dog adventure) not to film her, and yet you continued. Although she came through that moment with her usual resilience, it still made me cringe, because in that moment her wishes were overpowered, and it was captured against her will. I notice that you and Cristine have such a deep respect for your son and a desire for honoring his free choice, especially around filming. My encouragement for you is to hold extra care with when and how you use your camera, and to always honor your beautiful partner's free will over any potential content. Surely, it must be challenging as a videographer to put away your camera right when you believe you are capturing great content! But, each time you let go of potential content in favor of choosing your family's privacy and wishes, you are growing your integrity more into the man I see you becoming, the one I see you coming home to. For me, the best content is that which is made in integrity, respecting the essence and wishes of each person you interview -- respecting the wonderful person Cristine is, the enchanting child you have both brought into this world, and ultimately yourself. I hope it's okay to have written this. This is NOT meant as a criticism, but as an invitation to greater awareness. Don't worry, I know you are human, and last time I checked, we all are (certainly, I am!) Thank you for your wonderuful channel, and sending you only the best wishes from across the world, Lee

If you are worried about mowing all the things to clear the chicken area, you can hire those people that unleash goats on areas, they are thorough and eco friendly.

If you let the chicken roam free, you have to build a fence around your vegetable garden! :) They love to dig up every seed.

beautiful video. i must say my grandma always says take a 50% wool 50% acrylic garment, as it will help not shrink in the washing machine. 100% wool i find hard, because if it gets dirty what do you do?

Does your washing machine not have a wool or handwash option? I use a lot of wool and with that setting it does not shrink:)

You must grow the broccoli variety that looks like aChristmas tree. It is chunky and delicious. Your husky will think she's doing a wonderful thing catching your chickens if you don't teach her right away not to touch the birds! You may know this already. Chickens will cut down on ticks. They are wonderful and you can't have a better egg! homegrown. Also many animals will eat your chickens if they're not very very secure

Hi! It is so nice to see you three! Si much richness, is another energy, expansive. I think that from the last video it is happening: the series coming home 🌟 About the chickens the family on Talasbuam have a home on wheels for the times there is no snow and another not movable for the times with snow. They say that when snow comes chickens dont like to go on the ground. They cover it with somethin like a net to protect them from other great birds or other animals. When not snow they move them throgh the ground with a movable fence so they can eat and Poop to Enrich the soil. Maybe you can ask them. Thank you both for existing, you are a gift to the world 🦋

Hello Kalle, I wanted to know if you could clarify a doubt for me in the following video, I want to own a house in Sweden, so I can go on vacation for a month or two each year. It is a very small house, 50m2, with city water and electricity, and it also has a small wood stove. It has a very large forest plot of about 8 hectares. Can I use some trees to cut down and have firewood to heat myself in the winter months, or would I have to inform the city council? thanks for responding all the best
