Just watched your video with TXG, great explanation on the 50 yard shot. I've had a lot of instructors and seen alot of instruction, yours is top notch. Good luck with growing the channel. Subscribed. Cheers from Canada.

Tyler, your videos are so awesome. Really helpful stuff. I can’t wait to hit the range with this practice drill. Thanks!!

Thanks Zachary! I find this drill really helpful to get your feels and it is also so interesting to see how the ball reacts on slow vs fast swings.

Really good video here. Great drill that looks like it will hell with all aspects of the swing. I especially like the detail of seeing what tendencies creep in (using trackman) as you try to speed up. I can see this drill being beneficial without a trackman and obviously even better with one.
@tylermcghiegolf5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ya this one I find really interesting to see what the ball starts doing when players increase speed. Yes for sure even beneficial without trackman bc you still will have a chance to see tendencies with the ball flight and you also can experiment at the slower speeds to see what feels in your swing produce the best timing and balance.

What irons are those? 1.43 Smash on a 7i is nuts. PS - New sub here! Came from my fav channel, TXG.

Getting off the ground. That's why you professionals have so much Lag....you are getting ready for that, and you mastered how to do it. Thanks for the lesson, top notch indeed.

This is something that I've been working on recently. Shockingly, my 'slow' swings were actually carrying the same or further than my normal swing speed. I am trying to slow down my swing even more because my coach says it's still too fast (in the backswing mainly). Give this drill a try you may be surprised by the results.

Great lesson Tyler! What is the tour preferred angle of attack on a mid iron? Is it the same for all irons? Thanks again and Merry CHRISTmas!

Great question. From what I have seen -5aa to -11aa I think if you get around -10aa or more your body and wrists are taking a lot of impact each strike. That number will also change based on shot shape usually.

I like this drill a lot, as I am guilty of trying to produce speed with my upper body. It looks like your back swing tempo is the same no matter what speed you are trying to produce. Would you say that is what you are doing? I want to make sure I am doing this drill correctly. Thanks! - Dave

Great question. Yes it is very similar. I picture I am going slower, but it doesn't change it very much.

Hi, greetings from Spain. Great video and tips. I really need to increase my club head speed after a back injury and I have been doing it the wrong way by an intense use of my hands....outcome: hooks and hooks!.
@tylermcghiegolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Fernando. Sorry to hear about the back injury. I hope this video helps you gain speed. The legs and pushing from the ground is so important to effortless power. I'm thinking about shooting a video to address hooks soon also!

Your swing looks so much like Justin Rose. Any tips on how to increase distance with shorter irons/wedges? I carry my driver 285 but can only carry my 8 iron 150. Rarely ever take divots. Thanks!
@tylermcghiegolf5 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! Working on it! haha. For getting more distance with your short irons my first guess would be you are delivering to much loft. So something to try is see if you can get the face to start to square up earlier in the downswing so you can have more shaft lean and pivot speed and still hit it on line. Try to match DJ's face position at hip high in the downswing. I might shoot a video on this tendency bc I just gave a lesson and they had the same tendency.

Tyler I swing my arse off to try to hit my gap wedge 100 yards with what I feel is rotation and shaft lean! Would appreciate your insight on improving this! Approx 8 handicap!
@zero2herogolf4 жыл бұрын
That last shot was really well done. Question; For the last shot did you increase the rate of both rotation and leg extension (unflexing the knees) off the ground to get more speed?
@tylermcghiegolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes a bit of both and more stretch in transition.

All good, but I find that when my lower body gets too activated, it tend to hit shots way left.

NYC Entrepreneur just make sure your chest gets through also. Then look to club face if it is still a tendency

This is why online info is dangerous. For me my lower half ALWAYS out races my arms/torso and I the club way behind me. Not saying this info is wrong but people shouldn't just try random things without a professionals individual help.
@tylermcghiegolf5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I agree with your thought. Every player and person is different and requires there own plan. As a side note if your lower half out races your upper typically it is bc you haven't loaded in your backswing or it is how you are using your lower body to transition. I will shoot a video on this in the weeks to come.
@UnpaintedOG5 жыл бұрын
Tyler McGhie yeah I have a issue with hitting “at” the ball and it causes all sorts of issues. Right now I have to feel as my lower body does nothing in transition and my lead arm works down my torso.
@tylermcghiegolf5 жыл бұрын
@@UnpaintedOG Nice! Hows it going with that feel?
@UnpaintedOG5 жыл бұрын
@@tylermcghiegolf I still haven't gotten it down and my shaft is still pretty vertical at impact. Which is causing the ball to move a lot more left to right than I want. I use to have the club face super shut with a strong grip and standing the shaft up at impact would square the face. Now that I have the face in a more neutral position, if I stand the shaft up a lot at impact it's going right. BUT I'm not double crossing shots anymore. It's a work in progress.
