I was about 22 living in Australia when I woke up late after a night shift and put on the TV. Oprah was chatting to Tolle about this book n 2008. The night before I had what I can only describe as an enlightenment and I was curious as to what had happened to me? then they were sat discussing enlightenment. I went to the local bookshop and the they had one copy left. That copy was mine.

I think it is related to Buddhism and Buddhist philosophy. One of the most influential books to me - ever! Now as I continue to explore spirituality, it is quite exactly like Buddhism. You guys think so?
@myronschabe
@myronschabe 14 күн бұрын
Yes, certainly, it is absolutlely, in line, with Buddhism, Zen, Advaita Vedanta, Non-dual teachings....esssentially the 'Eastern' view of the world. ( As opposed to the Western religions that are based on mythologies and mere ideas.) The Eastern understandings are based on reality as it IS.
@fortissimoX
@fortissimoX 14 күн бұрын
"It is quite exactly like Buddhism. You guys think so?" Buddhism is in fact very vast in its teachings, and goes very deep in many areas. Most people don't know that here in west because it's simply quite difficult to grasp for western minds which are conditioned in certain belief systems. Eckhart's teachings are in fact a kind of distilled essence of those teachings, that are extremely practical and understandable for modern people. Of course, that's just the way I see it.

Thank you Oprah for supporting this book. It is wonderful to see and hear Eckhart Tolle in present day. He will be known in history for The Power of Now and his other writings and funny way of teaching through truth and being able to laugh at our own natural human reactions. He pointed out the difference between our nature that is primate and survival oriented versus our profound spiritual true Self that is a hidden treasure to most of us throughout our lives. Remember the saying “Be still and know that I am God?” With enough quietness in our body/mind/emotions we can experience that deeper, profound stillness that is God within. Living in that is far preferable, as said by Eckhart and many others over millennia. More people are discovering it these days. But living from there is a whole different thing than just knowing about it.

I like religion because I found out quick enough that it's an old battle going on. And I, by myself can't be multidimensional. I need help. Now matter how tough life is for us, we got the easy part guys. When God has given me a sight of what is against us, humans. I can't stop smiling, chanting and dancing, as it's Thanksgiving everyday, it humbles me more.

Doesn’t seem to be written FOR the Money .. but to share what he has learned just as Oprah is sharing what has helped her.
