Cookie Recipe
2 sticks salted butter, at room temperature
1 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1tsp baking soda
2tsp salt
1 1/2 cups plain flour
24oz chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, combine butter and sugars on medium speed until light and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Add one egg at a time, then the vanilla extract. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add baking soda, salt, and flour slowly. When just incorporated, turn off mixer and fold in chocolate chips.
Place dough in teaspoon-size mounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake cookies for 10 to I2 minutes, rotating pan halfway. Remove when cookies are brown at the edges but still soft in the center.
Cool on baking sheet for 7 to 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack

I think the dark wood is a terrific addition. Imaging it with two tall lamps.. crystal glasses, reflecting into the light of a grand mirror. Wood textures within a modern setting..brings complexity and sophistication. Beautiful addition!!

My mom always did that and I love it. There was a store in St. Petersburg Florida that hotels would change decor, this store bought it. People would by the dressers for the marble on top as the furniture was very cheap.

I was just in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago! It was my first ever visit to the UK & was so exciting. I've wanted to visit my entire life (over 60 now) My sister and I were in Edinburgh itself for a week & I kept telling her about this you tuber I like who lives there.....Amazing and beautiful place. How did you find that bookshop? I tried to track down and visit bookshops most places we visited. Was able to visit Wigtown, (Scotland) the last weekend of it's annual book festival. About your new furniture purchase. Since you've already painted a lot of things white, I would leave it as is, although the blue chest of drawers you showed as an example looks great, especially that shade of blue. I have lit my scented candle with a cosy throw over my legs and am sipping on a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso in it. It is getting too expensive here in a LOT of areas. These are my favourite kinds of videos! Love that sideboard. I think this wood piece is too nice to repaint entirely. Do something to the top only. Like a piece of black granite. Or flecked quartz. I love the rich, dark wood finish and think it looks like an expensive antique. I would definitely live with it for a while (a year or so 😉😊🥰) and then decide if painting is the course you wish to take. Personally, I have no problem mixing some painted pieces with gorgeous wood tones. Additionally, I would find two taller buffet lamps that take up less surface real estate but use some of that vertical space and use a large tray to create your bar, flanked by the lamps. That silver tray with the cookies on is lovely and might work brilliantly for you. Gorgeous flowers and a treat to liven up any room! 😍🥰😍

Yes, paint the beautiful cupboard. It's too dark for the room. But rather than matte black, perhaps consider a deeper shade of the wall colour. It'll still make a statement, but a harmonious one. And a unique mirror above it will look wonderful, reflecting more light into the room and adding depth of visual space. Lovely video as always.. XXXX

A bar is a great addition to your room. My feeling is that dark wood is a great contrast for that room. I have always loved the look of an old piece of furniture that has some imperfections, shows that it was a piece that someone loved so much they used it often. Your house, your rules, but if I get a vote, I’d say leave it or paint it dark. It would help ground the space which is very light. A bar with a small candlestick lamp and cool accessories would be wonderful!

Enjoyed your video Nicolas. Cookies look good and your flowers are beautiful. Yes nothing gives happiness like flowers do. Just a suggestion here but before you paint the sideboard (if you decide to) could you paint a good size piece of plain lining paper in the colour you’d like to paint the sideboard. Place it on the top, fasten it to a door or the side of the sideboard just to give a feel of how it will look in the room. Keep moving the paper to the top, front and sides of the sideboard observing the colour in different light. Creating a kind of mood board in a sense to see how it would fit with the rest of your lounge decor. I’ve done this with a small cupboard before painting it and it really helped. I’m sure it’ll look great whatever you decide. It fits well in the space. Greetings from Yorkshire ❤

I think the dark wood of the cabinet is beautiful. You already have some darker contrasts in the room - black (?) frames on the prints, the rug has a dark border. even the umbrella :) I think the cabinet colour enhances 'dimensionality' of the room, you could add other contrasts like a mahogany stool/magazine rack etc. it's beautiful!

You could have a piece of glass cut to the exact shape of the sideboard top, to protect it from spills. I wouldn’t paint it, damage can be repaired and nothing beats a lovely wood piece among painted furniture, it grounds the room.

Nice episode, good variety and length. So Glad you added the PIANO music overlay, missed it. The flowers are beautiful, I could almost smell the stems of fuchsia Stock through the screen. The silver tray covered with cookies looks wonderful as well, enticing viewer to want to join there as I do. You pulled it all together nicely. I like your new purchase. I know you get lots of comments with opinions from fans, but I think, with this piece you should channel the Designer inside of you and follow your gut, your heart and head, listening to each as to leave, paint, distress, etc. When all three speak to you, you'll know the right thing to do with it. There is no hurry, take your time to decide. As a designer, I like to sketch options out with colored pencil or paint options on paper to get a mini visual before making the final decision. On the one hand, Black and white is such a great modern trend. One the other lighter side, it could be painted using the same paint you used for your guest room side tables, then Modge Podged (glazed like those little wooden boxes you used to make) with your NK logo on the doors or the beautiful rose or peony florals you use for your Brand image Marketing. Maybe even take the simple leaf design on your Earl Gray Tea Bag and stencil it up and down or around it. As for the top, what I did with a antique French piece I have is to keep it the dark wood color which I love and think is sophisticated and classic, but my top absolutely needed a make over too. I chose to buy a piece of custom cut glass to fit the top and I use black glass spray paint on the under side to make it look like Onyx. I also toyed with the idea of using Mirror Spray paint or Mirror glass film on the under side so it would be a mirrored top. That may be the solution to getting the mirror benefit since you missed the marketplace purchase. That would leave that wall space open for another piece of art or a portrait gallery. It may be disappointing to miss out on the perfect antique wall mirror BUT, you've already have a round mirror over the fireplace so you really don't need two in the one room. Hope that makes you feel better. Everything happens for a reason and I believe it provides the opportunity to create another interesting focal point to the room as you find the perfect thing(s) to showcase on that wall. The fun is in the wondering, the contemplating, the planning, so let the creative juices flow and take your designing where it wants to go. If it were me, I'd use the top of the new piece for my tea set and cups used daily and switch it out if/when you have a cocktail happy hour planned. Alcohol bottles never look chic (not even the expensive ones), most designers chose crystal decanters or interesting glass decanters for a more refined, high end look. But if you are going for practical, down to earth living with your Brand, then cluster the bottles on that Silver Tray with a cocktail shaker and either a black ice bucket or Silver Champagne bucket. Do you remember when you went to that Posh Royal Family Memorabilia Hotel Suite? Think back, That professionally designed space could provide great inspiration for that area. Build your Brand with your unique style. Options are fun, play with it. Looking forward to seeing it evolve.

Glass cut to size for your new cabinet would be nice as you could see the wood beneath and the glass would reflect light for bar area objects etc you plan on using. It would also put a modern eclectic element to the piece itself and the area which is what seems to be happening. I like it.
