The trellis is beautiful. Elegant and suited to the house. I don’t think you have to second guess your decisions regarding your garden design. You have a wonderful eye for beauty. I hope one day we can see a home tour as I suspect the interior will be just as beautiful as your garden.

The trellis perfect. It is a great contrast to the blond brickwork of the house and its modestly decorative design is exactly the kind of look that will add to the outdoor landscape..

The arch is stunning! Even though it isn't modern, I think it stands out more. You wouldn't want all modern, or the landscape will look boring, and it would just blend in vs standing out. One suggestion that I have for the arch is to add cross pieces on an angle in the middle. I think it would give you more functionality when tying up the roses. Roses have a tendency to grow at different angles vs straight up, so having some metal cross-pieces welded into the middle would be the finishing touch, adding beauty and function. The lights are wonderful as well. I just removed my lights and went all solar. My garden is much smaller, and I found myself tripping on them most of the time. Now, I can remove the solar lights when they are in my way and put them back when I'm done. The downside of solar is that the lighting is dimmer during the winter months when it's a little dreary outside.

I like your channel. You have a very calming personality. Your new house is beautiful and tall. I think it would look better if painted a darker shade of green which would compliment all the green plants and bring down the height to the eye.

Matthew, the new garden trellis is gorgeous, and I love the height of it! Maybe instead of digging it down into the ground to cement it in, would it be possible to have the gentleman who built it add length to the legs to keep the tall stately look of the trellis? I purchased a beautiful iron trellis this spring I loved the height and didn't want to sacrifice any of that to stake it into the ground. I called the owner of our local auto-body shop to come over and look at it and asked if they could add longer legs to it. To my delight, he took it back to the shop in his pickup and returned it a week later looking fantastic in all of its tall glory. Have a great weekend! ~Margie

I love the trellis. I have a wall on my garage that could use something exactly like this. I also really love the idea of you having cutting shrubs. It would make indoor seasonal arrangements so easy to put together, without the worry of ruining the looks of shrubs in the main garden beds. You're brave still treating this like gardening season!

Beautiful arch and yes, landscape lights are an attractive feature! I use solar to save on electricity in all my landscaping and security lighting. Smart move with the bulb markers! I forget and have to replant bulbs or get surprised in spring when bulbs bloom in places I forget were planted. 😂

Love your arch. My next project will be a new raised bed approximately 2 foot by 4 foot. It will replace 7 large ( 5 gallon ) pots. This year I had “Rockin the Blues” Salvia and other flowers. The hummingbirds loved the plants so much that I am only planting flowers that they love in the new raised bed. It will not need as much water as the individual pots did making it easier for me. It is already named the Hummingbird Garden.

I love the arch - I prefer it much more than something modern and angular. We’ve already had a deep freeze and two snows (they melt off fast here) here so the only gardening activity now is just stuff that can happen after a freeze - mostly cleanup.

I really like the trellis. It’s proportionately sized for that area of your house. It will look so beautiful with roses climbing up it. It will be quite a show stopper from the road! I will be redesigning the flower bed (a difficult spot )against the side of my house. It’s only 24” deep.. a cement sidewalk runs along it so I’m very limited… any suggestions? 🤔

Down here in north Alabama they have us a 8 A now was 7B but here thankfully winters for the most part are mild it usually here in my area it gets the cold normal winter 20 to 30 and days 50s some times cooler but I have elephant ears angels trumpets ginger canna Lillie’s banana trees just come back reliable every year in 18 years I’ve been here so maybe I’ll try the hardy citrus will see Mike from Guntersville Alabama

trellis scale is good. personally i would prefer a straight across header instearuod of arch. think it fights with all the lines of the house. but if you have no other choice.....lovycing forsythia is soo cool and exciting for spring. got a proven winners 50% this fall. hope the rabbits dont eat it. heard it works for greenery flower filler as well. resting is well deserved. you have worked very very hard.
