A NEW YEAR: Workout Motivation, Thoughts in January, Walks with my Baby in Tuscany

Here we are in a new year. Like many people, I love empowering myself with a more disciplined exercise and eating plan in the month of January. Come with me for seven days as I go for walks around our house in Tuscany, Italy, and try to convince my husband to join me in this fitness challenge.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

So if you take ever moment and see it not in terms of goals but like a child, in terms of moments- moments to rest, moments to run free, to eat delicious food, to stare out a window or up into a tree. As a parent of three children who are now in their 20s and 30s, sleep habits were so different, often challenging, even into their adult years. Our middle child is now the parent of 2 - first child is now 26 months and her sleep habits, personality, however you describe it were very similar to your son’s early on. She now takes one 2 hour nap per day and sleeps 9-10 hours at night without waking, usually. However the first year + was tough. She never napped reliably unless held and even now requires a rather demanding routine of reading, etc to go to sleep. She gradually self weaned early in the pregnancy when her mother was in the first trimester expecting her brother. He is 4 months old tomorrow and is such a chill baby - happy, getting on a good sleeping schedule, - totally different than his sister. So many factors: personality, perhaps metabolism, and others. You will survive. You will always remember the difficult times - but life continues to provide other memories that cause these to fade! Hang in there! You are doing so well and you will survive!!

It is sometimes so hard to stay motivated! You are right though, just make a plan to move no matter what that is! So great seeing you and Guido work out together! Kylie I am convinced the most efficient use of your precious time could be ballet inspired isometric exercises. They will shrink, slim and tone. I lost 40 lbs in a few months without sweating, weights, jumping or using my treadmill. I worship people like Maria Khoreva. She’s a Russian ballet dancer with workouts on utube. You will be dazzled. ❤

What a lovely kick of motivation you gave me this morning Kylie! I've just woken here in my mum's place in Sydney and I had every intention to start a 9 day liver cleanse and start my exercise routine as well, this week BUT I came down with a flu, so have had to rest and listen to my body instead. Now that I'm on the mend, this video was just what I needed to reignite my intention to get going. I also receive such joy from watching your little GianFranco becoming so interactive and playing "games" of making house and cooking like mummy and daddy. Ma quanto è caruccio! Che cuoricino! Im exhausted just watching you girl! When I see your pool, I am reminded of the work you both put in to make that happen. And the grounds, how many hours you both planted and cleared, reaping the harvest of your efforts. Looking at your kitchen, I see the work that went into that transformation and the warmth and cheer it now brings. Seeing little Gianfranco pulling out his pots and pans, turning the oven dial and placing his “creation” into it.. I see a gift from God to you that has spent all his little life inspired by his mothers constant love. I hope you see how very much you and Guido have come through given all the struggles, delays, health concerns, etc. You are lovely Kylie and so amazingly talented. You live in a beautiful part of Italy almost fairy like. My husband and I live in central USA and have a small acreage with beautiful oak, hickory, and many other trees. I love it here, I was born in Germany but came to the US with my parents when I was a small child, I loved the landscape when we visited Europe but there were so many people. so coming home to the quiet and routine was great. Raising a child is beautiful and demanding, but it goes so quickly. I never thought I would get this age ( I am in my mid 70's), I enjoy this stage of life but I have enjoyed every stage, my advice would live in the moment and enjoy each day, week, etc. God bless. Happy New Year Kylie, Guido & Gianfranco! My message to everyone is that just because you can lift something, doesn't mean that you actually should! Last week on the last day of my holidays, I surprised my partner by tidying & reorganising his garage...also so I could store some of my own things (& our Chiristmas decorations). I also thought that it would be my daily exercise, rather than go on the treadmill. Anyway, the garage looked fantastic and he was thrilled. I was fine that evening... but the next day and days following I had debilitating lower back pain, which I have never had before. I couldn't even roll over, or get in/out of bed without excruciating pain. Thankfully I'm almost better. There was not one time where I felt like I had injured myself; but it may have been when I moved the marble beach umbrella base..or the huge sack of mortar? 🤔😖😵 Keeping in mind that I'm a petite 5'2". Have a healthy & safe 2024 everyone! 👱🏻‍♀️❤️

I love the way exercising helps us regain a feeling of control when life challenges us. Sometimes just the act of getting dressed and putting on our shoes is enough to get us moving to walk or workout. I find once I get started I finish the workout after all and I feel so much better! Kyle you should do voice overs for movies you have such a beautiful speaking voice. My daughter at that age would not take naps I was so worn out trying to get her to nap. I finally gave up and she no longer took naps and she ended up going to bed early and sleeping all night. If she needed a nap she would lay down on the couch or floor and nap. You may want to think about not letting him nap during the day. You know best you are the Mama . Love your videos Kyle

A tip coming from a mom of two girls with no extended family around just like you are at the moment. You dont have to keep your munchkin in a separate room while working out. Its so fun for our little ones to participate especially with fun music playing in the background he will start imitating your movements.

Hi, Happy New Year,at least let's hope it will be.@ the moment,here in my experience,it is -40° C ( that is -52°C with the wind chill).It is exceptionally brutal in Western Canada this January.We had a warm , brown Christmas & now this.Keeping balance in this beginning is honestly a challenge.I don't always have the opportunity to view your offering but I sincerely enjoy all of them when I do.Your son is without doubt a force of nature.He doesn't lack confidence even in these tender months.Mothering is the most unpredictable experience of your life . One of the thing that my pediatrician said to me is that if your son does not want to take a nap during the day don’t force it. He just does not need it and will sleep better at not. Some children don’t need to nap. And I was much applied as he went to bed earlier and slept all night.

Gianfranco is such a sweet little boy. When my daughter was little, she also didn’t sleep well. She will be 18 soon and I still remember those sleepless nights. I was told once that when babies don’t sleep, they learn. So it was comfort for me to think that 😊. Enjoy your exercises and try to rest as much as you can. Looking forward to the next video. kylie, i was wondering if you ever deal with wanderlust after "settling down"? i used to travel constantly - it was my entire life while i had a career working on superyachts. then i met my partner and fell in love and i ended up leaving my career at sea so we could start a life together. we bought a house in the countryside and are slowly renovating it and the surrounding gardens. my partner is a dream come true and so is our home and the new life we've been building together for the past 5 years but i also have painful moments where i miss my old life. it's hard to close a chapter on something that was so integral to who you are now. back when i had a hectic career on yachts, i used to fantasize about a quiet life in the countryside with a garden and now i fantasize about all the exciting travel and parties and meeting new people i used to have back then... i see so many parallels of my life with yours and i was just wondering if you also deal with wanderlust?

a humble suggestion -- maybe reset your child's inner clock by eliminating at least one of his daytime naps, so he learns to get the bulk of his sleep at night instead of during the day. good luck!

Hang in there Kylie, hopefully Gianfranco will start sleeping longer into the night again soon and you can regain your rest. I am surprised your hubby is not taking turns with soothing Gianfranco in the night as it always seems to be yourself that is sleep deprived. Glad though he is at last joining you in exercising after waving you off at every offer to join you last year and previously. If he is behaving kinder and less mean from the exercise I hope he continues as it must make life challenging dealing with such disposition especially trying to restore an old estate up to modern standards. I have noticed he has started to look a little rounded after enjoying a wonderful cook in his life, so committing to exercising regularly might be the way through if he wants to maintain his figure into the future. My husband was similar but made the change and is feeling and looking better for it as he was allergic to sugar and it made him crabby and trigger happy. Best wishes for 2024

Happy New Year Kylie, came in later as I usually go looking for you at weekends. What a beautiful setting to learn to sing - learning music requires careful listening and attention to instructions, rhythm and pitch and your sweet Gianfranco already has most of these life skills - cooking and unpacking the dishwasher, his cognitive development already finely tuned. We would catch the ferry across the harbour to 'Mozart for Minis' at the Sydney Opera House, I'd sit cross legged on the carpet, my very young son tucked in (no escaping). His little hands on my legs, absorbing absolutely everything, as each instrument in a full orchestra was introduced in a fun way. His instrument of choice came from those happy sessions, along with piano for a while (a good piano teacher the foundation to everything musical). He even adores yachting from watching the small sailing boats from the ante room. 'A child's mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.' On the way home we'd sit at the front while he'd steer the ferry across the harbour using the safety buoy to the delight of the German tourists ! You are an excellent mother.
