I remember cycling 15 mls to fish an overgrown gravel pit before I was old enough to drive .Never ever saw anyone else there .Caught huge Beautiful Rudd on bread .Then a long ride home .But it's the pull of Angling ..Wish more youngsters took it up rather than go down the wrong road . Parents take Youre Children.Tackles cheap enough .Rod licence and permit .have some lovely days out .Its not all abt Computers .The Countryside is magic .

Sad news about Bernard Cribbins today. It made me want to watch this series again.

This was an amazing series. I remember as a young lad I bought the full series on VHS, from a boy down the street. I remember watching it in the living room and my mum would be doing the ironing. She enjoyed it as much as I did even though she had little interest in fishing. She passed away recently so this is a lovely memory for me

It's one of the most beautiful and evocative TV series. The tranquil pace, the imagery and the narration are pure poetry. It makes me nostalgic of the times when the artists who make TV programmes have full creative control and strive for excellence and quality. They don't make them like that anymore.

So very true, TV is very soulless nowadays. Fantastic memories of watching this over and over again on VHS.

I loved that programme, I have the book, and got Bob James to Autograph it at an angling show at Woburn many years ago

i remember my first tackle box was given to me at christmas by 'bob an chris' or my parents being creative with the gift card. still have it today and im guessing this was at least 15 years ago now. this show was why i got into angling and im still doing it now. thanks for the uploads.

I recall the TV programme when it first aired on British TV and Chris and Bob had a fishing match at Redmire for.... Gudgeon!!?? :-))... Such a shame they no longer speak to each other because A Passion for Angling is an anglers must watch :-((...

Michael hack - Absolutely!! :-))... I had a Mr. Crabtree Goes Fishing book and must have read and reread it again and again when I was a kid. Mr. Crabtree and that pipe of his :-))... The name of the kid who went fishing with him (His son.) was Peter? You should check out Amazon's ebook.

My Angling Club has just this week banned members from taking under 18's fishing for insurance/health and safety reasons. No recruitment, no future anglers!!!
