Fantastic and thorough. I appreciated your pacing with this one. We used to get dropped off in church childcare so my mother could go to church services next door and it would start out with playing choo-choo train until a scary man would come into the room and say weird things. One time he came in slammed his hands on the desk and screamed at us: "YOU are the SALAD of THE DEVIL!!!!!!!" When our mother asked us what we did and we told her "we learned we are the salad of the devil", I remember it clear as day, she slammed the car brakes in the middle of the road and shouted "WHAAAAAT????" I don't remember going back with her.

I am so sorry that happened. I can only imagine how scary that was...the words and the aggressive mannerisms. We grew up hearing about being tossed into the lake of fire.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and I’m glad to hear the video was helpful for you. It’s heartbreaking to hear that you went through such intense feelings of guilt and shame, especially in a religious setting where you should have felt supported and uplifted. Religious trauma can leave deep emotional scars, but it’s encouraging to hear that you’re feeling better about religion and your relationship with God now. Healing from that kind of trauma takes time, and your journey toward finding peace and a healthier connection with your faith is such a powerful testament to your strength. Thank you for your openness, and I’m so glad the video could be part of your healing process. Wishing you continued peace and healing on your journey!

The only trauma per se I can ever remember, was a man got out of prison on Saturday and showed up to our church on Sunday. After a few weeks, he told my mom and dad, that because they were the only 2 people besides the pastor that greeted him into the house of the lord. It was enough for him to continue the path that shined before him. He said that if nobody accepted him, he probably would have been back in prison the next day after getting out. 🙏🏼😎

Thank you for sharing this powerful story. It’s incredible how small acts of kindness, like greeting someone, can have such a profound impact on their life. Your parents' openness and willingness to welcome that man helped him find a sense of belonging and direction. It's a reminder of how much of a difference compassion and acceptance can make, especially in the context of religious communities where many people are seeking healing and connection. Have you seen other instances where small gestures made a big difference in someone’s life within your community?
