No, they are made with yardage, the same fabric for the whole quilt top. The secret is to cut out pieces from the repeats, put them together in a certain way and it looks fun like the scenes in a kaleidescope.

@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
Just a thin one to sew them to or inexpensive fabric squares. You’ll do great! Have fun with it and post pictures when you get it done!
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
If you use interfacing, get one that’s thin but not so thin it’s going to rip easily. You’re basically wanting it for the square form to base your blocks off of.
@macmaid99119 ай бұрын
I am looking into what the easiest best option for the foundation would be. Interfacing has caught my eye, but wondering about shrinkage. Would you use cotton/poly or polyester? Or is muslin better? Wondering if just cotton fabric would add bulk? Thank you for your help!
@sewcharmingquiltshop9 ай бұрын
Cotton fabric doesn’t add bulk but you could use interfacing instead
@katheytiller3436Ай бұрын
That's what I was thinking about using, a light weight interfacing to reduce the bulk.

What is a good sewing machine for a beginner? I want to learn to sew and quilt!
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
There are so many good machines out there now! You can get machines that do so many different things now. My suggestion would be to figure out your budget and what you’re wanting to do with the machine and look at different models and check their reviews. I have a Brother, Janome, Juki, Singer and Kenmore for everyday sewing. They are all good!! My favorite is the Singer Quantum 9960. But that’s just me! Machines range in price so start with your budget and go from there! If you have questions text us or send us a message.

Hi quick question, i thought these were done on old paper or is that different? New to Quilting!!
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
Good question! They make paper squares you can make them on. Years ago I (and lots of other people!) made these on telephone book pages! Those are not so easy to find now though.
@pjd27092 жыл бұрын
@jackie heaney, yes you can use paper if you choose to, but if it were me I would use fabric (as paper would break down and cause lumpy texture), if you use dryer sheets save the used ones if that works, I would purchase some muslin or fabric that is on sale for cheap price (get enough for your project).
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct. If you have access to less expensive fabric then use that. Like I said before, there are lots of options to use as backing of the squares. Use what you have access to. 😊
@sewcharmingquiltshop2 жыл бұрын
There are many ways to do each block in quilting. It’s a preference thing. The fabric baking gives you form without having to try to make it the same size as the previous block.
