I remember when I was getting close to my 30s and starting to panic because my childhood dream was to publish a book, and I didn't got the confidence to do it in my 20s. So I was spiraling because I was so sure that once I hit 30, there would be no time left for my dream because I would be to focus with being a new father. Boy was I so wrong. Sure, the first year was entirely about my baby, but now that they are crawling everywhere and get so curious about everything, it's just so inspiring. I swear, I've never been more outside since I got that kid, just to watch them discover the world around. I got out of my comfort zone and started to socialize with all the other young parents, and got closer to my old friends after a year of being an ermite, and even spontaneously got back in a martial art class after 15 years of stopping. Even better, I'm finally about to publish my book before the end of this year. So if there's an anime that embodies that positive impulse, fuck yeah I'm gonna watch it! Thanks for the recommandation!

Lily you keep saying your recap doesn't do the show justice but I teared up 5 different times and actually cried twice, having to pause the video to take a quick breather every single time. This recap was amazing and if this isn't doing the show justice, then I can't wait to ball my eyes out actually watching all of this in context! The 8:40 clip was the only knowledge of this anime I ever had, so realizing it's not a pure comedy and is actually filled with heart touching and melancholy moments of friendship and grief was definitely a surprise. I'm gonna grab my friends and have us sit down and watch this so we can all cry and experience the full thing together 💖

I wanted to recommend this to you, but you said don't recommend stuff. Boundaries are good. That, and I was pretty sure you were aware of it anyway. Thanks for giving this one a chance, thanks for the great video analyzing it. I cried pretty much every episode. Shirase slapping down the money to help Hinata had me bawling. "In your face" was a terrific moment. "Zamamiro" in Japanese. There's moments where the dub is better, this isn't one of them. Shirase sending emails all through out the show was a brilliant detail. I want a sequel for this so bad. There was a job posting for 4 people to go to Antarctica, run the post office and count the penguins. And my head said that was the real life sequel right there.

This is such a heartfelt and fun anime that I had no idea existed, and yet you combing into these characters as they bond together and go on this expedition has me really interested to give it a try (hopefully if there comes a rainy summer day to give me that motivation to do so). I didn’t expect the protagonist and her reasoning to go on this Antartica trip to really resonate so personally to how I’ve been feeling all this month, desiring for fun experiences and summer adventures that would help outshine the hellscape that is my dead end summer job playing homemaker but grocery store sim edition. And yet by some miracle I had singlehandedly won a lip sync giveaway contest at a pride brunch to go on a helijet round trip and just recently I’ve been trying swimming in the sea and I encountered a wild sea otter just five meters away from me hanging out on the logs! Next month I’m honestly convinced to use my next pay to book a three hour sailing tour of the islands when I have a day off. I can’t wait to see if you plan to take on more hiking explorations before the cold hits to see what you find out there-after your injury is fully healed thanks to nurse cheerleader Mikayla. Nature sure has a way of rekindling a joy of experiencing it all in adulthood that feeds that longing of adventure as a child, huh?

I look to other creators as shafrillas or cinemawins and I think that style of covering mostly things they hold dear in one way or another might suit you as well in this new stage of your path, were I hope that you are the happiest you have ever been, and each day is better than the last. edit: Yeah, that hike trail is gorgeous.

That in-episode pause between "Yeah, still frozen..." and "...That doesn't make it right" made me laugh across 4 dimensions at least, one of whom is purely laughing at what kind of dialogue would be so censorable it'd be considered M.I.A. by dubbing standards~ (Wait... Do WHAT??? ...She's right, that doesn't make it right~ XD) Anyway, I wasn't gonna impulse-buy this blindly off Shout!Factory as the price alone looked to be more expensive than Toho's US release of Godzilla Minus One, however I am easily swayed by even the [factual] understated recap and that's where next month's paycheque is going towards and by then I'll still call it fate, buy one of the last numbered copies, and probably cry big-anime eyes long before the first episode sets the stage for a marathon rather than a binge like any show should be viewed as and that's before the plot twist that they'd be more copies made to print anyway as it was just going OOS than OOP at the time of purchase~

Please promise that I, Yuzuki Shiraishi and you will be friends 2. Please promise that once this trip is over, that the friendship doesn't also end 3. Please promise that our friendship will continue no matter what distance there is between us. 4. Please promise that our friendship will continue no matter how long we are unable to meet up 5. Please promise that if we have the available time to do so, that we meet up no matter what.

Oh yeah, this is another one of the anime I saw a review of and thought 'Huh I bet Lily would actually like this if she ever found it'. There's definitely a genre for wholesome cute good-for-what-ails-ya anime but not all of them manage to maintain that quality all the way through. And I think the only magical girl franchise still around that's playing it 100% straight at this point is the Pretty Cure folks. And Sailor Moon ofc

Listen, I love Full Metal Brotherhood I do. I also get it isn't for everyone and you gotta take no for an answer, fellas. I have nostalgia for the 90s Sailor Moon for how silly it could be with also having the girl power stuff I loved. I can also see the things that didn't age well. Not too long ago my friend and I watched Saiki K on netflix and we found its silliness fun too. The point is not all new things you find in anime need to be the same thing you enjoyed as a kid but gorey or h0rny-jail worthy. [Yes I did see Chainsawman and Power is the best character, but that's besides the point. I don't think I'll really keep up with it but it was worth an afternoon with the gals poking fun.]

If you want a non-shonen anime series that gives you a big cry and some emotional gut punches, and has an English dub (since that's an important factor for you) I would suggest Violet Everguarden. It's a series about this girl who use to be solider during a war or conflict who had to retire from the military not because the war or conflict ended but because she lost both her arms and could no longer fight. So with a pair of really articulated prosthetic arm she gets a job at the post office and joins the division where the women in it go to clients to writes/types letters for them due to different circumstances. What leadss you through the story is that due to reasons explored in the series the titicular character of Violet typed out letters letters not knowing what love is and did so in a way too direct way that seemed robotic or cold coming from her, So in each assignment Violet goes on we get to learn something about her upbringing while Violet learns about the different facets of love in a way that not only makes her better at her job but also pushes her development as a character. This is all I can say without the details going into spoilers. It has beautiful, it has great writing (or at lest good writing that's greatly executed), and a montage sequence that rivals the opening sequence of Pixar's Up.

@DelicateSnowflake6894 ай бұрын
It’s a thing in general: when someone likes something they want to push it. Weebs are just more insensitive about this than the average person because they’re generally given scorn on the internet and want to negate that, failing to realise their persistence is making things worse.

They are also in the tourist area with the tourist trap hotel of 3 towers connected by a sky garden called Marina Bay. Also the durian here tends to be a lot better than the ones in western countries mainly cause the good ones really suck at transport. To me, it was the fact that a studio made an original anime that was good that makes me happy. It didn't need to be a masterpiece or get lots of praise, the fact that a studio wanted to try and make one makes me happy., although certainly in this case I did enjoy A Place Further than the Universe. And what a beautiful review it was! This made my heart feel so full! Still one of my favorites, and now that I know it has a dub I’m rewatching it again. I love shows that are just friends being sweet and dumb together. Admittedly, I have a bit of trauma from past friendships that have left me feeling lonely and self conscious. So much so that it’s made it difficult for me to get sincerely close to other people out of fear of it happening again. But I’ve recently began a new friendship with someone that has been so good to me that I can’t remember ever feeling this happy and, most importantly, loved. We’ve had conversations that have made me ugly cry for all the right reasons and I’m glad that I haven’t grown so cynical that it’s prevented me from being someone’s friend again. Despite being about getting to Antarctica, this series leaves me feeling so warm. Also, Gin was 100% Shirase’s deadbeat stepmom.
