Quick tips for black 2: -grind on the ranch for the first gym as they’re higher level -audinos are better for grinding since they give more exp and HP EVs -The movie goes faster if you lose the battle (use ice punch on pawniard) This got a lot of traction so here’s another tip, though I’m not sure it works as its been a long time since i’ve played gen 5 -if you lose the movie battle, you don’t need to watch it but again, i don’t remember if this works

FYI Hammer Arm lowers the user's speed, not the opponent's, which is why you were still slower than Samurott.

About the seasons in B2 and W2. The season changes after every month, so a new in game season starts with the beginning of a new month. This basically allows three in game years in just one real life year. You can't change what season is on which month. Basically, March will always be Fall and December will always be Winter in those games.

Ok hear me out: the next time you do a run in this version you should try solo Beldum. In any other game it would be basically impossible, but since there are tutors available you can teach Beldum iron head and zen headbutt, making it slightly more possible to actually beat the game!

I suggest a Red/Blue run with only Magmar. If you look at its move list you’ll understand why. If you want throw in no Tms for added challenge I’m pretty sure magmar would have one of the highest base stat totals for a mon in a single run that you’ve done so far.

Man, this video made me happy. The challenge run itself was fun, with cool pokemon variety I rarely see, and hearing that you actually really enjoyed White 2 was really awesome, because I really liked it too and it's cool seeing people like stuff you like. I have a lot of the same criticisms of the challenge videos as others do, with them feeling a little copy and pasted, but this was a breath of fresh air. Pretty on-brand that the Christmas video, with Christmas being the holiday associated with warmth, ends on an incredibly wholesome note. That earnestness (I think that correctly describes it?) at the end of the video perfectly highlights why this channel has become a personal favorite of mine for streamers, just taking the time to discuss the pleasant and seasonally relevant thoughts going through the mind with an honesty and heartfelt-ness that most wouldn't approach their channel with. Also nice to see a Black 2 challenge. As much as gen 5 challenges are such a pain, BW2 are my favorite Pokemon games, and hearing MDB offer it its worthy praises warms my cockles (and shows up those commenters who insist that he hates gen 5 just because he points out how not designed for challenge runs they are). Oh my God, your challenges have so much more personality in them, and I am living for it! I was reacting about the same as you in my first play through of white2. My secret was trading my Eevee to a finished file of Black, evolving it into Glacdon, and trading back. Ice types are fantastic offensively, and are very overpowered at the start of the game. So glad you enjoyed this game too!

Gen 5 (both games) are the peak of Pokemon. Seriously, give us some solid HD remakes of these without the dumbass chibi art, and I'd buy it in a second. Also, MDB @10:00 the trainers in Gen 5 are 16-17. They intentionally made them older due to the fact that the fanbase was aging as well.

Pokémon challenge: gen 1, 1 Pokédex challenge. Finish the game with a Pokédex of 1. Likitung, Krabby and Kingler can learn all three required HMs (strength, surf and cut).

I feel like that’s just a normal solo run without HM slaves. Tho i do remember seeing another youtube do a hoenn (emerald maybe?) run with only mudkip and no HM slaves. Happy to see you playing through Black 2! It is my uncontested favorite game in the franchise. It’s immersive with great story telling while also being one of the most challenging games in the series! Hope that you enjoyed playing through it!

10:05 actually something interesting I learned recently, the 10 years old thing is just from the anime. The games don't really give you an age except generally a child. Though the black and white characters seem older than before. They look 16 to me.

They actually do give ages. The anime says 10 is the minimum age for the Kanto league, Alola says 11 is the minimum. Generally the characters are their generation +10. Red is 11, Ethan is 12, Brenden/May is 13, Dawn/Lucas are 14, all Unova are 15, Calem/Selene are 16. Alola protags are 11 and SwSh are 16

Both of gen 5 and 6 characters are 16. Bianca (black), Hugh (black 2) were all 16 when they started their journey

Next time you do a gen 5 run. i would reccomend grinding on audinos, you get a whole lot more exp. (audinos = shaking grass)

Thank you for a great year of content! You definitely deserve to have any days off of YT you want/need.
