If I may suggest a category, maybe breaking names into their most literal components and trying to guess which Pokémon they correlate to. You could probably fudge even the simpler names, such as Lanturn (lantern + turn) becoming “Light Switch”. And then there’s Gyarados, whose name roughly means “I had a rough childhood, and now everyone must die”.
