@joshuathomas56263 жыл бұрын
@@ADHD_God5489 I'd imagine that the aliens are motivated by a carnal animal instinct based on their behavior. If I'm remembering right in the first movie the water was somewhere around waist high on the mom, so the alien would either have to crouch to an unnatural degree if they were using the bottom of the floor while swimming, or they were extended like a dolphin in the water swimming. To crouch would indicate that the alien was being sneaky (which is fairly out of character for them) or they thought their prey was under water so he submerged into a swimming motion. Also I think it's funny how much thought goes into a scene where they probably just thought I'd be cool if an alien was swimming lmao

Hey anyone remember that movie "Outlander" that came out in 2008. The movie with the Moorwen that attracted its prey with light. I wonder how it would fare against these creatures.
@SassyCassie893 жыл бұрын
I remember that movie, I enjoyed it. I think the monsters from the quiet place would take the moorwen. The moorwen might have a lot of physicality but they lack the defence to stay in the game against a clearly tougher foe. The lightshow would be ineffective though the moorwen does have agility on it's side. Strength level they seem fairly similar, I couldn't say either way. Again the quiet monsters hide is an important factor, without it I'd say moorwen but as it is I can't see the moorwen doing enough damage in single combat and without the ability to ambush to get a clean enough hit to kill. This might seem rambly but I'm drunk as all hell right now.

@@SassyCassie89 ooof not sure about the lacking defence part, they blew it up and it was only slightly annoyed they only managed to hurt it with space age metal from outlanders ship it was immune to what was available on earth. Its also blindingly fast, multiple times in the movie it pounces and death rolls someone before they can get a sword out. It also displayed enough intelligence to hold a grudge against the main character as well as hunt trap and attract anyone who encountered it. Plus its size and muscle mass. My bets on the Moorwen.
@Ponen773 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I remember that film, did enjoy it, yeah its hide was impervious until Jim Caviziel had to dive to his sunken ship and retrieve the metal from his ship to forge a weapon capable of penetrating the moowrwens hide..the creature is shown to be intelligent and its planet and race was actually wiped out by cavizels people to terraform and colonize its planet.

The Joe Team seems to have forgotten the problem with "horror" films and sequels. 1. It's very hard to scare the audience a second time (as the audience knows what to expect.) 2. There is no horror if the cast makes logical decisions. 3. Monsters always "just somehow" show-up/get lucky. Additionally the "Part II" was from what I could tell...was very deliberate. The movie literally starts where the other ended. This sets 2 rules. 1. They can't jump the shark/dramatically up the intensity without the movie losing its realistic theme. IE: There was/is no time skip (like in most films). So the family is as vulnerable, barely armed, and etc as before. 2. It allows for the characters to grow and for gradual expansion of the universe. To be fair. This is just 1 random family, they aren't going to uncover a shits-worth of important lore. The movie played it very safe. But we also got much more of the monsters. My biggest gripe was that we learned nothing about the monsters reasons for killing everyone. Are they eating the humans? (Cause it really didn't seem so. They seemed to just kill and move on.) To be honest, I wasn't upset with the small town store being stocked seeing how the monsters seem to have REALLY, REALLY, REALLY exterminated humanity. The fact shit was so well stocked actually made things scarier. If supplies are scarce then that means a lot of people survived. If supplies are plentiful.......then....yeah....thats a very bad sign. Overall, I agree with the 7/10 rating. Gotta rip Angry Joe for one thing... "This movie and the first could have just been combined into 1 movie." - Angry Joe Yeah....that's why it's called "Part 2". I agree with some gripes but not with this idea that this film needed to be dramatically different. As for the nit-picks over the aliens being unable to swim and the mass populace not learning, not sharing, and etc. Uh...look at how folks responded to the pandemic... Something like this would very much wipe out humanity....in mere days.

I agree. It should at least be a 7/10. It's really difficult to make a horror movie sequel because the first movie had the advantage of surprising the audience. The audience doesn't know what to expect nor do they have info on the monsters, so having the sequel use the same monsters is a huge risk since now we already know that they can be killed. Lack of information is the key factor to making a tense horror film.

When I think about a movie doing the same thing I think of hangover 2. The prequel part of the film was a 10 for me. The part immediately after with the introduction of the new character was pretty intense and satisfying. Everything after that was like a 5. The tension goes on forever it’s like a marathon. Still a solid 8 for me felt great to watch it in a theater that was was completely silent lol

@AppleSauceGamingChannel3 жыл бұрын
The timescale of the first movie means those things have been on Earth a very long time- It should have been addressed then. I'm guessing the writers had no clue how to write something cogent about that or it wouldn't fit the very linear, confined and still nonsensical plot they did manage to put out. Expanding on that would be even more difficult and they seem to have a really tough time keeping things barely coherent as is.
@fourclawrider9 ай бұрын
Little late to the party but now that I've seen the second film the creatures make a lot less sense. So they go by sound, OK, but we never see them blindly run into things, trip over things, get caught into things etc. Creatures that can't see usually have all kinds of appendages to slowly feel their way around plus an excellent sense of smell. These creatures have neither, yet they lunge around the world a high speed fully aware of their environment. Maybe they're like Bats? Echolocation. Except if you have echolocation you wouldn't need sound anymore in the direct sense. Because echolocation is more like "seeing through sound", like a radar that creates a 3D scan. Also it senses movement. If the creatures have echolocation they should be able to "see" people even if they're dead quiet. Even if people didn't move echolocation would still reveal their general shape and position to the creatures. So they don't have echolocation yet can perfectly navigate their environment at high speed. That my first big issue. And then, one of the creatures jumps blindly into the water and drowns. Immediately raising more questions. Are they not aware of their environment after all? Or did it know the water was there but wasn't familiar yet with the concept of water? Didn't understand it's not a flat surface you can walk on? So there's no bodies of water on their planet? How do they drink? the fluids of human corpses (if they even eat them) can't be enough to sustain such large creatures. Lions eat whole gazelles yet still have to drink a ton of water. Maybe on their planet they suck fluid out of large alien plant life. But then there's no such plants here on earth obviously. Also we are day 474, Shouldn't these creatures have figured out water by now? And since the planet's surface is 71 percent water the vast majority of these creatures should have died on day one. And then there the common problems that come with biological-organism-induced-apocalyse scenarios. If they hunt people and most people are dead what are they even living off? Wild life? Wild life couldn't sustain anything more than a scarce prehistoric human population in the past, there's no way an army of large carnivores could live of the wild life. The only thing that would explain it all away is if the creatures are a biologically engineered weapon sent by another sentient race. Their only instinct is to kill, they have no metabolism, they just die off after a while and get replaced through new drops. ..............Eeeeeexcept, why would aliens engineer bio weapons that can't see? Unless they can't see themselves. But then how would they even reach a highly advanced technological level?

It does what a sequel should do. Takes what worked with the first one and puts it in a larger setting and widens the scope of the world. The flashback is handled effectively in setting up the new character of this adventure and sets up the implications of the story beyond its setting. And it felt like a natural continuation of the very last minute of the previous film. I would say it is absolutely tense as all hell, uses sound design effectively in creating some genuine scares, and the splitting of the characters storyline is handled well. It does suffer from feeling stretched at times, it is the same story but larger in scale, and it has lost some of its creepy mystique. But it’s a solid sequel that provides more of what people loved from the first and dare say, and then some.

Huh? There was like 10 - 15 minutes of “prequel” and the rest was “sequel”. I love watching these angry reviews if not solely for the fact that these three hold different perspectives to other critics but like, whaaaat? You don’t have to like the film but it’s hardly a retelling. With the logic of your criticism, you could say that all movie sequels are the same. This was very well directed, I’d argue more suspenseful than the first film and it was completely fresh, I couldn’t tell you a single thing they did in this sequel that they did in the first movie apart from close calls with the creatures which is to be expected from all movies of this nature? Be fair. The first movie was isolated within their own home, with completely different scenarios associated with that, there was a system in place for these characters. The sequel begins with a short prequel introduction before tossing the characters into an unfamiliar environment, breaking their routine and allowing a deeper dive into the films world. We see all types of suspenseful scenarios unfold and the ending takes a completely different turn to the first. I apologise for going too deep into this but I feel like you’re going against the film for the sake of “being different to other critics” which is absolutely absurd. If you had fair critiques, this would be a different story. I suppose you could take this on board or disagree, I enjoy the content for the most part otherwise x
