So . . . a jolly bar, made either by cutting a layer cake in half, or cutting 5 x 10 rectangles, or using an actual jolly bar from the Fat Quarter Shop, makes for much bigger rectangles (5x10) than the 2-1/2 by 4-1/2 inch rectangles you used, which could easily be cut from a jelly roll. Right? Now that we've all had dessert, I want to thank you for sharing this cute and fun pattern! Two of the grands are coming over this afternoon, and one of these quilt squares would be an easy quilt top for a stuffie. Also love that you broke down assembling the quilt as so much sewing per day - makes it easier to think about. An easy quilt to put together for donating to your local hospital nicu - per their size and fabric requirements, of course. Again - thanks, Anna.

My Guild makes "Comfort Quilts" for the Senior Citizen homes in our city. We use simple patterns and almost exclusively use 2.5" strips. Hi, I've been following you for a few years and always look forward to watching your videos. You always bring peace and motivation to get started with our beautiful hobby. It is incredible how you and my life often walk together. For example, I start a quilt and then I see that you chose the same pattern you moved at the same time as I…and so a few coincidences. But I am in a very difficult period because my husband is in a rapidly open heart operation 😰 everything is reasonably under control now but we still have to be patient. When I saw your video today about the JOLLY quilt, I thought I could use some joy at any rate. I'll make a quilt if we're going to leave the hospital. And this will remind me of what we have gone through together. I think you are a positive woman with the right values and feelings to deal with other people. Do so and know I am a big fan of you!! Well, Anna, thanks for sending me down a rabbit hole. I have never quilted except for doing English paper piecing which is really not a quilting, but I always wanted to. And I watch your show just so I can see pretty quilts and see different techniques, etc. but again I never tried to do it. Well, here I am at the age of 81. and when you showed the jolly Bars I just decided this is definitely something I need to do. I want a throw for my couch and I decided that I could make it the size I want using the patterns from fat quarter shop using Jolly bars and it wouldn’t take me that long and I could also hand quilt it. Then I went on fat quarter shop and omg I think I am hooked. I also have done foundation paper piecing but never went further than placemats or table toppers. Thank you for explaining in an easy to understand how to make the wonder block quilt. Now I have more to do. It was so gracious of you to share that.
