Hey guy's, just wanted to add a note here that the ArtDeShine graphene coating used in this video is now about two formulations old and according to the brand's reps and other users/reviews the current formula is much improved which I think is great to hear. New technology always has a learning curve and I'm appreciative of brands that take that leap to help further the detailing community and all the amazing products at our disposal.

From the user experience up to the proper curing time, real life tests under Aussie conditions, chemical resistance tests, multiple test panels with different layers and configurations, logical explanations and unbiased opinions, etc. and many more that other channels don't do. We really appreciate your hardwork, Sandro. We love you man, I'm your number 1 fan here in the PH. Thank you for this video.

I been detailing cars for the past 12 years now. False marketing is the main issue here. Over hyped product strength and false promises lead to customer’s disappointment and lost trust. I have tested almost 50 different brands of ceramic coating throughout the years but to be honest non of it come close to what they describe. End of the day whatsoever technology that you use it’s not permanent solutions! The car owner need to take some responsibility to maintain their vehicle. As a Detailer you have to be sincere to your customers whenever you presenting the solutions.

I am actually very disappointed in how this Graphene coating performed since UK has been out for a while now. It kind of tells me they still have a very long ways to go since it’s not even out performing UK. Since technology has changed a lot expected no excuses from Graphene type coating and my guess is they really didn’t do much in depth testing before releasing it. They need car craft to do their testing for them.

Great video Sandro. The only interest I’ve ever had with a graphene coating over a ceramic coating was because it is supposedly better with water spotting issues. As you and many other KZbinrs have shown, the claims are just not accurate at this time with any of the brands I have seen tested. I’ll continue to hold off until claims are proven accurate.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “graphene” coatings are just high end ceramic coatings with an RGO additive just so they can slap graphene on the label and milk the hell out of the hype it’s been on for quite some time. If tech giants like Panasonic have been having trouble with the technology in its solid form even with their advanced facilities and manufacturing processes, what makes you think the detailing industry could just put it in a bottle in liquid form and have it be stable and apt for such a niche automotive use? It just doesn’t add up. It’s funny, if you’re objective/skeptical about this people get mad at you and/or call you a hater. MARKETING 101 Edit: small spelling error

I’m already bored and wanna polish my car again as it’s been 1 yr since I polished and put UK3.0 on it and it’s still performing like day 1. I believe the Ethos and Adams coatings are the same as I think they’re both blended by B&B but only the manufacturers know that. The adams coating seems to be SLIGHTLY more hydrophobic than CQUARTZ and I just like trying new products.

You are right that reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) is used as an additive in a silicone polymer or composite just as SiO2 or TiO2 is used the same way. These products are widely misunderstood as graphene, TiO2 or SiO2 based when really they are used as additives for enhancement of certain properties. Even more widely assumed is the coating is a "1 atom thick layer of graphene" which really isn't what Artdeshine is trying to make or market as that will not give us any beneficial function we need. That is what many electrical companies are doing as it gives them electrical conductivity and sensitivity. We need not that refinement of rGO or even pure graphene. And Artdeshine do know how to disperse rGO into polymeric matrixes. Artdeshine's Nano Graphene Coating is not termed ceramic because the percentages of SiO2 which the term "ceramic" came about is very low. Most of the components are silicone polymers that are cured to be softer and more flexible as compared to hard like you noticed in the applicator cloth. Hardness does not determine how durable or abrasion resistant the product can be (Artdeshine does make hard ceramic coatings too). Abrasion resistance mostly comes from how much friction is produced by the surface, more sleek less friction less chances of marring. More about why rGO is used in the product. It is a fact that rGO helps with anti-corrosion and in the polymeric matrix it has shown capabilities in IR transmission tests to lower IR absorbance. This is an indicator of lower thermal absorption which we know heat is a very strong catalyst in chemical reactions with contaminants that causes etching.

Great test & review, thank you. I just did my first graphene, with Adam's Graphene Ceramic. It does flash very quickly like the ArtDeShine but it was not difficult to level out, even if it dried a bit. The gloss and slickness and hydrphobics are impressive, and if it's no better than a consumer-grade ceramic, that's ok by me as I picked it up for $69; not much of a premium over most ceramics. If it performs better, great.

HI Sandro. Good review mate. You are years ahead the other in the industry. At least Forensic and Pan looks like kid garden kids compare to you. I am a great fan of yours advices and technique. Even so the test might be a bit unfair as Cquartz is already at version 3 which means has great improvement and Artdeshine is a bit younger and only version 1 if i am not wrong. As well, I did not thick Artdeshine was projected as product to be left unwashed for a month. Would be fair to compare same version of the products. I am afraid you will not like me anymore when I say that your video might impact the development of the graphene as you criticise the product, the sale will drop and will be a lack of development. We should all participate to encourage the product especially for Artdeshine which I have seen is making efforts to deliver beter products. Personally I will buy their product and send them the feedback so the next version will be beter. Is a win win for all of us. Give a fair chance to other product not only Carpro. Everyone should be able to voice their opinion and as long as the comments are respectful I’m happy for you to voice yours and I’m certainly not going to start disliking you because we have potentially diverse view points. There’s no possible set of tests I could do that wouldn’t make everyone happy, try making and posting a video yourself and you will see that when some people don’t like the results they then like to dismiss or question your process or even integrity. Just say Artdeshine did amazingly well in this review, would you have had the same reaction and questioned the testing methods the same way? If you’re being honest the answer is no. It would be so much easier for me to do some half arsed testing and just jump on board, but is that what you really want? And is that why you watch my videos? I understand that you’re a fan of Artdeshine and I saw some great performances and potential there. Yes the testing was extreme, but it was equally extreme for all the coatings. I’m a fan of new detailing technology, but if you just praise and accept what your told about a newer technology rather than test it out and question it for yourself, that helps no one and actually hurts it in the long run.

I believe the biggest difference in expectations between the graphene ceramic coatings and the previous SiO2 coatings is that the graphene ceramic coatings are supposed to retain less dust due to its anti-static properties and to keep the car's paint / surfaces at a cooler temperature, which would obviously be better to protect cars in hotter climates. The hydrophobic qualities and gloss factor are essentially the same. I've used Adam's Graphene Spray coating and Adam's Ceramic Boost spray coating, and performance wise they are nearly identical. Just like with any other detailing job, it's more about the prep work with the wash, decontamination, clay bar, and paint correction prior to applying the coating.

Key here is a light priming with the detailer. NOTE: Point 1 and 2 are public info and provided by Artdeshine. #3 is insider. Graphene hasn't been out that long in the US.. I Used NanoBond Diamond ceramic hard coat 2x as a base and well rounded Ceramic spray toppers and that does real good in protection and water beading.. now I have seen some graphene sprays hit the market not too long ago like 303 products graphene spring and Adams graphene Coating in spray.. but for me that technology is too new and to unproven for me.. I mean it is graphene oxide which uses distillates to help it bond to a coating.. but does it really do that much more protection in water beading then I high concentrate SiO2 coating like NanoBond or that quartz ceramic coating he's using.. I'm not so sure. Now I'm sure giving time that grabbing sprays will advance and maybe come much better than ceramics and much more durable for longer-lasting effects.. but for me it's just too new.. I do not go off buzzwords I go off Proven real world working products.. that is funny though that he did that with the cloth cuz I did the same exact thing with the NanoBond and another High concentrate SiO2 coating I was trying.. The NanoBond won coming out rock hard on the applicator cloth

Hello Sandro, super glad to see you got your comment replies back. That was thousands of comments. Got a few questions if you don't mind. 1 - From my research NV Snow is the only wash I know of that is ph neutral with no gloss enhancers or wax. Its currently out of stock in the usa. Do know of any alternatives? 2 - My car is now ceramic coated (cquartz) and i'm considering using a ceramic infused wash. The main thing going through my mind is whether using a ceramic wash on my glass (coated with nv glass ceramic) could mask the effectiveness of my glass coating. What do you opt for currently with maintaining ceramic coatings ( ph neutral washes, carpro reload, carpro reset, ect) 3 - After loosing my mind until 11pm cleaning interior glass, I generally feel that compared to nv clarity and a few other streak free cleaners nothing removes residue better than pure IPA. Have you had the same experience?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and my older comments are gone for good but I can still make new comments moving forward. CarPro Reset has no enhancement additives and it’s also great maintenance wash for coated cars. Ideally it’s really best to stick to pure car wash soaps as hydrophobic additive ones can mask the superior behaviour of your various coatings. I tend to use Nv Boost a lot and it really seems to play well with the paint and glass coatings with no issue but Elixir could also be another good option. Cloths are also extremely important when cleaning glass, to make sure they are super clean and only used for glass but I personally have great success with Clarity and Eraser, but it you feel a straight IPA solution works best for you I’d just stick with it!

Hello sandro. Is the harder the applicator in Sweden, the stronger the coating ?. Because I tested CQuartz lite Vs a new cheap amazon coating 2020 (19.99eur or 33 $ aud for 50ml ~1,7oz), the fantastic xml superior crystal ceramic & Graphene Coating (9H +). Yet cheap but the suede with the fantastic xml coating is hard as wood! 😱😮😮😮, compare to CQuartz lite which already had very hard Sweden, the xml is a crazy thing !. It must be very concentrated in Sio2?!(I don't think it is very concentrated in graphene because the liquid is not very dark). It announces a duration of 180 days and more, but I think it will go well beyond. It would be more like 180 washes, maybe a mistake on Amazon. With a chemical resistance test (meguiar's apc, meguiar's super degreaser, ipa, etc.) it beat CQuartz lite and even CQuartz lite + gliss! 🤔. Although I prefer real stress testing, letting time do its job. Just one layer makes good sheeting and beading while 2 layers makes excellent beading. It would be nice if you gave it a try to see what you think. Otherwise, do you think graphene which is supposed to be magic and more of a commercial thing than anything compared to ceramic coatings? Thank you in advance

That’s quite interesting and thanks for sharing! There’s a lot of factors that go into creating a good ceramic coating and harness is definitely one of them but there’s always a lot of other things I look for like gloss, saturation, hydrophobicity, chemical and environmental resistance and very important to me is the application and user experience. I think time will tell whether graphene is going to be better than what we currently have, but it’s also important to note that ceramic coatings are also going to get better so it will be interesting!

I really enjoyed the information and comparison you provided. It seems that everyone is testing their coatings, whether it be graphene or ceramic, based on gloss enhancement, chemical resistance and of course ease of use. Part of the benefits touted by these products is the resistance to swirls and light scratches. Has anyone devised a test for this? It would be great to add to the testing process when comparing products, but I’ve never seen anyone do this. Keep up the top notch work!

Sandro mate IMHO till a SAE/or ASTM standard is applied to all car and transport clear / commercial paint sealants is applied you can only rely on people such as yourself doing these fantastic reviews and tests , real world tests showing what and how good or bad the products tested full stop, theres SAE/ASTM tests for oil/coolants and other products to make them up to a standard that every oil manufacturer has to meet to achieve various ratings for those products, but nothing for the car detailing or care care products around the world, i have only found one products which CLAIMS its real good and used by aircraft manufacturers to help seal the aircraft paint, which is permaguard, yet perma guard and mercedes AU own web page about the products shows no ASTM approvals or tests to make sure its approval for automotive paints? heres permaguard own web page and no ASTM no listed at all, no CASR approval no and i used to work for the aircraft / aerospace industry and i can say this, unless theses a CASR approval number which you can easily check by going online or even calling CASA who is the australian governing body for everything airworthiness for running a aircraft large or small in australia, but nope i could not find any ASTM or CASR approval for permaguard, its not to say that the products is not good in fact the opposite, its like anything as long has it saves money for the operators and will not affect the OEM top coat of the paints used in aircraft manufacture and maintenance of those painted parts then its up to the owners of those aircraft to make a decision to use it or not to use it? Basically as long as the company adheres to the CASR 145 plan for maintenance and get an approval, then its really saying that you can use or sell your products for the use specified ie: Your claim is that it will protect the OEM painted surfaces of aircraft paints currently used in various aircraft manufacturers paints and sealants, ie: clear coats on OEM Aircraft paint that it basically? EG: PPG Aircraft paints are specialised paints due to the nature of aircraft aluminum used in the manufacturing of aircraft AIRBUS,Boeing and Other Manufacturers of military aircraft etc etc. :)🏎🏎🏎✌👍👌🙌😊

I certainly agree that the graphene side did not really stop water spotting. If you freeze the video and look at the dry panel after the pre-soak at 10:18 and look where the top spot lights are on the panel on each side there is definitely still significant water spots. Then if you freeze the video and look at the dried panel again at 10:50 after the contact wash in the same 2 spot light areas there appears to be significantly less spots remaining on the graphene side than on the ceramic side.

Yes! Was looking for more info on Artdeshine and thanks for doing some side by side comparison...Im a skeptic on the graphene tech and ceramic coating ive also been doing some testing for a couple of years now mainly for cars being daily driven and never see a garage, ive used low to high priced ceramic coating along side graphene coating, ceramic spray coating and NV Jet + Boost on the other panel and so far the ceramic coating although still there but barely and adams graphene coating and ceramic spray coating are good about 70% intact and not surprisingly NV Jet +boost were keeping up with the ceramic coatings after 10 months of application. And the main culprit of the degradation is the early am morning dew + morning sun why? because ceramic does not like water and the sun this is where Graphene and other ceramics that have titanium dioxide really shines out. Hence Im as slowly transitioning to the NV care care flat form and graphene tech.

Thank you for your high quality reviews. One question regarding art de shine nano graphene. If buffing is performed after applying the coating, stains and residues will not be removed from the entire application surface. Buffing with very high force will remove the stain One thing I noticed in your video was to buff it right away with a slightly damp towel. Will this help remove stains and debris? I am wondering if there is any adverse effect on the coating layer.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you shouldn’t have to use water or a damp cloth to level down or wipe a coating as it may reduce it longevity, but without a damp cloths it’s just too difficult and potentially more aggressive on the paint to level this coating down, but water should help remove any streaks.

My testing was thorough, it was many many tests that I worked very hard to produce and went well beyond the footage of this video. I hope you understand that I’m not new to coatings - ceramic or graphene - with ten years plus experience with coatings, I do this for a living and I stand by my results, which I hope you can at least respect, rather than just try to pick apart, but that’s also your choice 🙂
