Hey guy's, just wanted to add a note here that the ArtDeShine graphene coating used in this video is now about two formulations old and according to the brand's reps and other users/reviews the current formula is much improved which I think is great to hear. New technology always has a learning curve and I'm appreciative of brands that take that leap to help further the detailing community and all the amazing products at our disposal.

I am actually very disappointed in how this Graphene coating performed since UK has been out for a while now. It kind of tells me they still have a very long ways to go since it’s not even out performing UK. Since technology has changed a lot expected no excuses from Graphene type coating and my guess is they really didn’t do much in depth testing before releasing it. They need car craft to do their testing for them.

This is the best, most honest description of these graphene coatings that I have seen to date. For that reason, I have subscribed. So, my decision? First, I will not be buying Artedeshine due to its application difficulty. I also feel that it is overpriced. Second, until the graphene coatings industry improves their delivery medium, I will not be using any of their products. I'll just have to wait for the chemists to figure it all out. This honest detailer helped me make those decisions. Thank you, sir. Well done.👍

Great test & review, thank you. I just did my first graphene, with Adam's Graphene Ceramic. It does flash very quickly like the ArtDeShine but it was not difficult to level out, even if it dried a bit. The gloss and slickness and hydrphobics are impressive, and if it's no better than a consumer-grade ceramic, that's ok by me as I picked it up for $69; not much of a premium over most ceramics. If it performs better, great.

I been detailing cars for the past 12 years now. False marketing is the main issue here. Over hyped product strength and false promises lead to customer’s disappointment and lost trust. I have tested almost 50 different brands of ceramic coating throughout the years but to be honest non of it come close to what they describe. End of the day whatsoever technology that you use it’s not permanent solutions! The car owner need to take some responsibility to maintain their vehicle. As a Detailer you have to be sincere to your customers whenever you presenting the solutions.

I believe the biggest difference in expectations between the graphene ceramic coatings and the previous SiO2 coatings is that the graphene ceramic coatings are supposed to retain less dust due to its anti-static properties and to keep the car's paint / surfaces at a cooler temperature, which would obviously be better to protect cars in hotter climates. The hydrophobic qualities and gloss factor are essentially the same. I've used Adam's Graphene Spray coating and Adam's Ceramic Boost spray coating, and performance wise they are nearly identical. Just like with any other detailing job, it's more about the prep work with the wash, decontamination, clay bar, and paint correction prior to applying the coating.

I certainly agree that the graphene side did not really stop water spotting. If you freeze the video and look at the dry panel after the pre-soak at 10:18 and look where the top spot lights are on the panel on each side there is definitely still significant water spots. Then if you freeze the video and look at the dried panel again at 10:50 after the contact wash in the same 2 spot light areas there appears to be significantly less spots remaining on the graphene side than on the ceramic side.

I really enjoyed the information and comparison you provided. It seems that everyone is testing their coatings, whether it be graphene or ceramic, based on gloss enhancement, chemical resistance and of course ease of use. Part of the benefits touted by these products is the resistance to swirls and light scratches. Has anyone devised a test for this? It would be great to add to the testing process when comparing products, but I’ve never seen anyone do this. Keep up the top notch work!

Sandro this was an incredibly well thought out, researched, and superbly produced video, which I believe has become your signature trademark. You constantly and unswervingly share the basic and blunt truths of every product. You accomplish this with a very thorough explanation, that is well laid out courtesy of your systematic presentation. In the two years, I have been watching KZbin channels, few, if any produce a more comprehensive testing scenario to match real-world conditions than you Sandro; period, end of the story. My search to find the best coating to prevent or reduce the effect of water spots on non-garaged daily drivers over the last few months had finally convinced me to switch from Sio2 coatings to Graphene was from faulty conclusions I gained from believing the hype from all the manufactures and the youtube channels. But Brian at Apex and Brian at Chicago Auto Pros gave me pause when I watched their conclusions and now after watching yours, I feel that Sio2 coatings are still equal and in some ways still superior to Graphene and am sticking with Sio2. Granted graphene coatings have for the most part relied on KZbin host's comments that showed graphene had better slickness, sheeted more than beaded, ease of application, and a better finish for the most part and only lately have some of the more credible hosts like yourself brought up the fact that a lot of the Sio2 coatings, after years of testing, have maturated to a point where they also have ease of application, high levels of slickness and some are even seeing sheeting. The conclusion that has been sold to us, is that Graphene is much better in reducing or preventing water spots and even if water spots appear, they can be more easily removed from a graphene product whereas we all know it can't be removed from a Sio2 coating. Your video has really helped me to stick with the Sio2 ceramic coatings and yes, CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 is one of my favorites especially with Gliss on top of the UK 3.0. Thank you.

Apply, wait about 20 seconds, and wipe off with two microfiber, no wetting or leveling agent needed. The BX left a very slick surface. I applied a second coat 24 hrs later, then the Maintenance coat another 24 hours later. The Maintenance coat seems to have reduced the slickness slightly. The Mayvinci is still performing like day 1. I now have Ethos Graphene Matrix Coating on the bonnet, roof and boot. Like your test the Graphene seems to be behaving better with the water than the Quarts as it's early days. The graphene appears to be performing similar to my Mayvinci coat but seems a little better than than the Mayvinci in the beading and I had no water spots after rain. The rain was mixed with ash as we had back burning. The Mayvinci cost me 500 aud dollars. The Graphene 160 AUD. I did it this way to see which product outlasts each other as the Graphene is supposed to last for five years and the Mayvinci 3 years. Time consuming test but it will tell the truth.

Hello Sandro, super glad to see you got your comment replies back. That was thousands of comments. Got a few questions if you don't mind. 1 - From my research NV Snow is the only wash I know of that is ph neutral with no gloss enhancers or wax. Its currently out of stock in the usa. Do know of any alternatives? 2 - My car is now ceramic coated (cquartz) and i'm considering using a ceramic infused wash. The main thing going through my mind is whether using a ceramic wash on my glass (coated with nv glass ceramic) could mask the effectiveness of my glass coating. What do you opt for currently with maintaining ceramic coatings ( ph neutral washes, carpro reload, carpro reset, ect) 3 - After loosing my mind until 11pm cleaning interior glass, I generally feel that compared to nv clarity and a few other streak free cleaners nothing removes residue better than pure IPA. Have you had the same experience?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and my older comments are gone for good but I can still make new comments moving forward. CarPro Reset has no enhancement additives and it’s also great maintenance wash for coated cars. Ideally it’s really best to stick to pure car wash soaps as hydrophobic additive ones can mask the superior behaviour of your various coatings. I tend to use Nv Boost a lot and it really seems to play well with the paint and glass coatings with no issue but Elixir could also be another good option. Cloths are also extremely important when cleaning glass, to make sure they are super clean and only used for glass but I personally have great success with Clarity and Eraser, but it you feel a straight IPA solution works best for you I’d just stick with it!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “graphene” coatings are just high end ceramic coatings with an RGO additive just so they can slap graphene on the label and milk the hell out of the hype it’s been on for quite some time. If tech giants like Panasonic have been having trouble with the technology in its solid form even with their advanced facilities and manufacturing processes, what makes you think the detailing industry could just put it in a bottle in liquid form and have it be stable and apt for such a niche automotive use? It just doesn’t add up. It’s funny, if you’re objective/skeptical about this people get mad at you and/or call you a hater. MARKETING 101 Edit: small spelling error

Let me know how you go!
@artdeshine70674 жыл бұрын
You are right that reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) is used as an additive in a silicone polymer or composite just as SiO2 or TiO2 is used the same way. These products are widely misunderstood as graphene, TiO2 or SiO2 based when really they are used as additives for enhancement of certain properties. Even more widely assumed is the coating is a "1 atom thick layer of graphene" which really isn't what Artdeshine is trying to make or market as that will not give us any beneficial function we need. That is what many electrical companies are doing as it gives them electrical conductivity and sensitivity. We need not that refinement of rGO or even pure graphene. And Artdeshine do know how to disperse rGO into polymeric matrixes. Artdeshine's Nano Graphene Coating is not termed ceramic because the percentages of SiO2 which the term "ceramic" came about is very low. Most of the components are silicone polymers that are cured to be softer and more flexible as compared to hard like you noticed in the applicator cloth. Hardness does not determine how durable or abrasion resistant the product can be (Artdeshine does make hard ceramic coatings too). Abrasion resistance mostly comes from how much friction is produced by the surface, more sleek less friction less chances of marring. More about why rGO is used in the product. It is a fact that rGO helps with anti-corrosion and in the polymeric matrix it has shown capabilities in IR transmission tests to lower IR absorbance. This is an indicator of lower thermal absorption which we know heat is a very strong catalyst in chemical reactions with contaminants that causes etching.

Was looking for more info on Artdeshine and thanks for doing some side by side comparison...Im a skeptic on the graphene tech and ceramic coating ive also been doing some testing for a couple of years now mainly for cars being daily driven and never see a garage, ive used low to high priced ceramic coating along side graphene coating, ceramic spray coating and NV Jet + Boost on the other panel and so far the ceramic coating although still there but barely and adams graphene coating and ceramic spray coating are good about 70% intact and not surprisingly NV Jet +boost were keeping up with the ceramic coatings after 10 months of application. And the main culprit of the degradation is the early am morning dew + morning sun why? because ceramic does not like water and the sun this is where Graphene and other ceramics that have titanium dioxide really shines out. Hence Im as slowly transitioning to the NV care care flat form and graphene tech.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing No bradah thank you for sharing and comparing different products, The versatility of NV care and resiliency is what makes it unique besides the ease of use and i agree a little product on the pad will not only work well and streak free. I also applied for the pro level coating and cant wait for the announcement on when it will be out here in the US.

Hey Sandro! Graphene someday may be the King of the hill....but not today! 😎 Like you said, some manufacturers are rushing to get a product out there that has the buzz word Graphene on it. That’s a label and level that has to be backed up with ‘High End’ results to withstand the scrutiny that YOU will put it through. 😂 If they would have came out and said this product was a ‘top of the line’ si02 coating it still wouldn’t have took top shelf. 🤔 1) Anything NV 2) Anything CarPro 3) Does it matter...😁 Great video Sandro! Appreciate you and your thorough knowledge of all things detailed 💯💯 Good day mate!

Sandro, great video. Excellent comparison. If you haven't seen it yet check out Chicago Auto Pro's in depth review on the technology and chemistry of graphene coatings. Confirms everything you have said. Interesting stuff.
@chadj83494 жыл бұрын
I agree with you the technology is just not there yet. True graphene is very expensive and is only one atom thick. These new products are (in my opinion)are graphene oxide mixed with a carrier or transfer solution. So basically a ceramic coating with some graphene oxide mixed in.

@@williambrewer855 I watched that one as well as several others including ethos, adams and ammo nyc. Also the typical google search. What’s your opinion on graphene?
@artdeshine70674 жыл бұрын

Is this version of the ArtDeshine V3 ? Or is it an earlier version, so the V3 is better ?

Does the graphene coating protect against scratches etc aswell?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
It can certainly help in mitigating scratches like almost all paint protection products but it won’t eliminate them.

Graphene coating is ceramic coating with a little bit of graphene powder mixed in to turn it dark in color but physically does nothing, your just getting the results of the ceramic coating, maybe they will get better over time, but the platelets don’t line up or do what their supposed to do at a nano level...yet

Thank you for your high quality reviews. One question regarding art de shine nano graphene. If buffing is performed after applying the coating, stains and residues will not be removed from the entire application surface. Buffing with very high force will remove the stain One thing I noticed in your video was to buff it right away with a slightly damp towel. Will this help remove stains and debris? I am wondering if there is any adverse effect on the coating layer.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you shouldn’t have to use water or a damp cloth to level down or wipe a coating as it may reduce it longevity, but without a damp cloths it’s just too difficult and potentially more aggressive on the paint to level this coating down, but water should help remove any streaks.

Hello good sir, loving your vids. I have 1 question. What coating would you recommend for high dust anti-adhesion with the best saturation and gloss. Thankyou!
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Nv Evo does have quite amazing gloss and saturation levels and also tends to look quite clean for long periods so it may be a good choice, but there’s certainly may coatings I haven’t tried as of yet that could potentially also do a great job.

I have the Ethos Graphene Matrix Coating. Currently I have Mayvinci C16 ceramic coating on the side panels of my car AMG E55K for 2 years now. I had Carpro Quarts UK 3 on the bonnet, roof and boot. The Quarts lasted 8 months. The Mayvinci is still performing like day 1. I now have Ethos Graphene Matrix Coating on the bonnet, roof and boot. Like the test in this video the Graphene seems to be behaving better with the water than the Quarts as it's early days. I bought it from the US. Application of the Ethos was easy. I did it this way to see which product outlasts each other as the Graphene is supposed to last for five years and the Mayvinci 3 years. Time consuming test but it will tell the truth. The Graphene is great so far but time is the factor.

Keep up the excellent work, love this channel.
