Thanks for the update. I detail my own cars because I enjoy it. Recently I started doing a few details on the side. I had my friend buy the adams advanced graphene kit and I coated his new F150 for now cost to learn the process. I found it very easy to apply. I decon washed, clayed, and did a one step polish with 3d one. The coating went on very easy, and looks fantastic. It's been 8 months and his truck still looks great, and he loves driving in the rain and watching the water flow off. Pan I really appreciate your content. Product reviews are fantastic. But more importantly you explain proper techniques, and step by step process. Thanks for making my hobby more enjoyable.

Hello Pan. I’ve applied the Adams Advanced Graphene Coating to my customer’s 2020 Ford Explorer in the spring of 2021 and the coating is 95% intact. It can be a little pricer than the other coatings, but when it’s on sale at 30% off is a good time to buy. I think it’s worth it, since professional grade coatings are much higher. My customers who are very discerning normally get the Adams Advanced Graphene Coating. Keep up the great content and I really appreciate your honesty. Thanks again Pan.

If you're applying a topper every month, how do u know how the coating is performing ? As all you're seeing is the topper beading if thats what it's characteristics are.
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
There was no topper left here plus we used all the decon steps to expose the coating underneath. Even if you weren’t doing all that and using toppers regularly, it doesn’t matter if what you see is good hydrophobics, it means the protection as a whole is working. If a topper works, you can be sure that a higher performing longer lasting coating will perform even better. But feel free to run your own tests without proper maintenance.

I just used this on my 2012 Toyota Camry. I ceramic coated it 2 yrs ago using the Armor shield which was ok but wasn’t overwhelmed with it. I let it cure & washed it about a week later . After washing it I used the leaf blower & never seen water fly off the car so fast. It was literally dry in minutes. This stuff is crazy!👍🏻 Now I’m looking at the DIY 8 yrs pro coating which I was thinking on doing my neighbor’s p/u. I’m not a professional but have coated 3 cars following all the steps from wash, Ironize with clay towel, 3D speed, prep & coating.

I've used that on 2 cars. Both in very dusty areas so they get really nasty in a short time. One gets washed regularly, one can go months. The regular one beads up great each time but the extended wash doesn't bead much at all even after a good washing. Last time I hit the extended with a heavier strip wash knowing it doesn't touch ceramic coatings and the beading came right back. Both were done about 2 years ago. I have a third using Ethos graphene and it's holding up exactly the same. I recently had someone comment me on my "new car", she wanted to smell the new car smell. I laughed, it's 14 years old. A good paint correction and ceramic coat can work wonders. This was the Ethos car, it gets washed monthly. Neither seem to be any better or worse than my old Cquartz 2.0 coating All 3 cars were done by me per your instructional videos.

Thanks for the update Pan. I applied the Adam's Advanced Graphene on my Tundra this past Summer, so only about 5 months ago. I'm encouraged by the 2-yr performance. I would note that I ended up using about 50 ml of the 60 ml--in part because I had to reapply over a few high spots to re-level the finish. The performance has been amazing for me. I get super tight beading, even over a thick layer of dust! My wash mit glides effortlessly across the surface. I have noticed that I have trouble with water spots if I don't dry it quickly; but I think that might be because I have been trying to blend regularly Adam's Car Shampoo with their Graphene Shampoo to stretch the cost of the Graphene a little further...

Love the update Pan. Thank You! I too applied the Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating Advanced to my daily driver and the coating is holding up pretty well. Very impressed with how well it returns to normal beading and sheeting after a thorough cleaning with Koch Chemie Active Foam and the Adams Graphene Shampoo. My only disagreement, I found the coating incredibly easy to apply. I applied the Adams Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating Advanced to a different vehicle and found the spray coating to feel too slick when leveling off, whereas the 60ml bottle gave more "tactile feedback," similar to removing a Carnauba Wax. Made it hard to tell if the spray coating was leveled off. Certainly a personal opinion, but thought it was worth posting the experience from a novice detailer/Weekend Warrior.

Thanks for sharing. It's not super difficult to apply, but once you have tested coatings that are even easier and go on and off like butter, you know. Coatings like the new Cerakote Professional Ceramic Paint. Coating, Gyeon Syncro or Gyeon Mohs, AvalonKing Armor Shield IX Max, CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0, DIY Detail, and the list goes on. All those are much easier to apply in my opinion, compared to the Adam's.

I've had the advanced on my car for 1.5 years and ~65,000km (less time but more driving) and I would say I still have about 75% of what I started with (did clay, decon, paint correction, the works before I applied). Maintenance washes (Koch Chemie GSF + CarPro reset or Gyeon Bathe+) every 2-4 weeks during the summer and fall months, drive through car wash stations during the winter time and spraying the graphene boost that comes in the kit every 3-4 months. Heavy duty chemicals are used for pre and post-winter washes only (Koch-Chemie active foam, carpro descale). I would have liked a bit more performance but not sure if it's because I drive through alot of backroads and farmland and construction zones in Ontario that I'm not seeing the same results as yourself. Thanks for the update though! I was looking forward to it!

Yeah you drive a lot (my girlfriend did 40,000 km in those two years) and where you drive must really contribute to wearing the costing down. Conditions are a big factor, so is mileage. In the winter, she parks her vehicle in our garage which helps.

Impressive coating for those lightly maintained daily drivers out there, Pan! One take away from this video that I learned from our buddy Rick over at RAD Garage is the usage of sheeting water. I applied the Advanced formula to a customer's truck about 3 months ago. There is an issue where I have applied to the black plastic. There is a white chalky appearance. Perhaps I did not apply/remove correctly as it looks pretty bad. This truck sits outside. Adams has recommended I use there Tire and Rubber product to corrct this. Also there was some high spots that despite a lot of effort, I struggled to remove during the initial application. The customer has also pointed these out. The recommendation is to machine polish these spots. I will now need to schedule this customer and work on these corrections.

Hey Pan, thanks for all your guidance. I have a full size pickup with this Adams coating going on 14 months. I noticed this weekend my first door ding. I don’t want to take the time to redo the entire truck. Do you think it will be ok to paint correct and polish just one door and re coat the graphine or should I deal with it and wait until I have a few more things to paint correct and do the entire truck?
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
I can't help decide for you on that one. It's a personal thing. With my OCD, I couldn't possibly just polish and recoat one door, knowing that the rest of the vehicle has the coating for 14 months. I would redo the entire thing. But there is nothing wrong with polishing and just re-coating that one panel too.

I have this coating on a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 for two summers, and happy with how it’s performed so far…even without using a topper. I just used on a new 2023 4Runner which should be a better test through the Colorado winters and crap on roads. For the 4Runner, I left the coating on longer (5 min) vs what I did with the Mustang (couple of min…started to rainbow). It was a bit harder to level on the 4Runner (bit grabbier), but seems to perform a bit better than what I remember initially for the Mustang.

Great video. Clearly you know your stuff. 2 year update is incredibly helpful info. Doing this coating now & figured if it lasts 4-5 years I’ll be satisfied. Would like to hear about using this on the windshield. Heard of horror stories if the glass isn’t new (without any pitting). Apparently it fills in any pitting and makes the pits visible. So it looks terrible. But is it ok to use on a new windshield? Is it an “incredible” coating for a new windshield, just not a used one with pitting?? Or is the pitting thing not a big issue??

Thanks! On glass, it lasted a few months at best. Coatings that can be applied on different surfaces tend to not perform as well on glass. So I eventually polished the windshield and applied my favourite glass coating: Soft99 Ultra Glaco. Before applying any glass coating, you must deep clean and decontaminate the glass. Good morning I applied the ceramic coating on my car I use the Adam’s graphene shampoo to wash I use chemical guys clean slate once year, and still shows that coating is no longer there. Do recommend different shampoo and other products on regular washes ?
@PanTheOrganizer6 ай бұрын
You should not be using Clean Slate to wash a coated car. That's not what Clean Slate is meant to do. Clean Slate is meant to remove older waxes and sealants before applying new protection. Adam's Graphene Shampoo is totally fine. But it's surprising that you say you don't see the coating anymore after just one year. This is a pretty durable coating so far. So either you did something wrong in the prep or application, or perhaps it's clogged with minerals. Try to use a mineral deposit remove like this: bit.ly/3UO1UX4 Wash the car, then spray the product. This removes minerals left over time by water and that potentially clogs coatings, so you think they're dead but perhaps they're just clogged. You can also try my spring deep cleaning tutorial for coated vehicles in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYXEd3iVpZeCd9ksi=ejwO1rTMmc4jxgcm If that still doesn't work, then you know your coating is done.

I coated my car with this six months ago. I always had really tight/small water beading. Once I used thier graphene boost as a maintenance, the beading turned to larger untight beads. What do you think this means? Do you think it could be clogged? Thanks Pan
@PanTheOrganizer10 ай бұрын
No that should be fine. Hydrophobic properties usually change depending on what topper you apply. The hydrophobics become the ones of the top-most layer. So if you apply a spray for maintenance, it will alter the hydrophobics to what ever that specific spray has. But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Just different. You can eventually wash your vehicle with the Adam's Graphene Shampoo like I do for this vehicle's maintenance, as that shampoo has stronger degreasing capabilities (compared to a pH neutral one) and can help revive hydrophobics of coatings, assuming the coating is still in decent condition.

Use a water deionizer and you will never have water spots. Regular washing of the car also prevents water spots from settling and doing damage. You can also use a water spot remover spray to remove them assuming they haven’t started to etch through the clear coat.

It's getting close to three years with this product on my girlfriend's car, and now we're starting to see the first signs of it failing in some areas like the lower parts of the doors. I'd say it's 85% of what it was on day 1 at this point. So it won't last the claimed 9 years. No coating does anyways, at least not on daily drivers that are exposed to the elements 24/7 and go through crazy Canadian winters. But I would say I am fairly satisfied with the Adam's so far. Are there better coatings? Yes absolutely. Are there worse coatings? Yes. The technology has progressed a lot since this was unveiled, so coatings are now easier to apply, some only require 1 hour of curing, are slicker, and have way better hydrophobics.

I have systemX on my car and it’s been about 8 months and it’s missing a lot of those properties so I want to clean and decon the whole car and apply a ceramic all over it. Specifically this Adam’s advanced one on top of systemX. Hoping for a direct answer. Thanks
@PanTheOrganizer10 күн бұрын
The general answer is no, and certainly not mixing and matching different coatings. Coatings need to bond to a clean, decontaminated, and virgin clear coat. So you’d have to machine polish the old one off first, then panel prep spray, then apply the new coating.
@Gabeyboy110 күн бұрын
@ okay cool, thanks! However, what if I polish the whole car off but some bits of the old ceramic remain, let’s say like I polish it down but there’s a thin 25% left of the old ceramic. Is that pretty decent and good enough?

A single stage polish should be enough to remove the previous coating. You can use the CLEAN By Pan Spray Polish and my CLEAN By Pan blue foam polishing pad and easily get the job done. Then use the CLEAN By Pan Panel Prep Spray and you’re ready to apply the new coating. 👍🏻

Hi like you mentioned in the video tar and iron removal can be done after contact wash. What if there is any iron or tar while you are doing the contact wash? I mean can it scratch the car paint? Just a thought thanks
@PanTheOrganizer3 ай бұрын
You should always do the chemical decontamination AFTER you wash the car. The reason being those chemicals will be able to focus on their specific tasks, and tackle the contamination, instead of also having to fight through a layer of dirt first. So you wash your car, rinse it, then you can either spray the decon chemicals on wet paint, or dry the paint first, spray on dry paint if you want even more efficiency (no dilution on the surface). Using a tar remover and an iron remover are touchless decontamination methods. Once those products react, you rinse them off and continue with the next steps. No touching = no scratching. It’s glossy but perhaps not as much as the latest and greatest coatings that also cost more (like C6 Hydro Lite $300 USD). The Adam’s is a fairly old coating at this point. But the biggest way to get the most increase in measurable gloss is always by paint correction (machine polishing). Did you polish the paint before applying the coating? You said minimal polishing, but that doesn’t tell me much. See how I fully detail a brand new car in the video below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anzdn6WdaL9mZ9E

It's very rare that coatings reach their maximum durability claims, for many variables that I have spoken about in many videos. Prep, application, conditions when applying, weather/conditions where the person lives, yearly mileage, garage kept car vs kept outside all day in the elements, weekend driven vs daily driven, maintenance, etc. So many factors can alter the durability of any protection. Certainly we would have liked to see more durability from this Adam's coating overall, but the conditions the vehicle was exposed to (our harsh Canadian winters) and the fact it was daily driven and sat outside in the elements often did not help it. Also, since its release years ago, many coatings have far surpassed it now, in my opinion.

Also, it will soon be 3 years with the Adam's coating on my girlfriend's car, and it's now starting to fail in the lower parts of the doors, so I'm a bit disappointed. This would never reach the claimed 9 years of durability in real world situations, certainly not in winter climates like we have. So I will fully strip this off, and use something more high end soon.
