I watched the first three episodes of the Hulu(Disney+) show, "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives". Let's analyse it, from my perspective as a traditional wife and mother.

I'm a young man and I can confidently affirm that your content and your attitude are extraordinary. I've been following your channel for two years and the improvement is noticeable. Not only is the information you provide useful, I'm sure, for women of all ages, but it is also practical and heart-warming from the male perspective. Keep up the great work and I wish you and your family a happy and fulfilling journey.

I love the darker hair on you! I believe we should remember reality shows are still shows. The place I am from has their own reality show and I often get prejudiced comments about the place/culture bc of what people see on the show. Only certain "types" are cast and only certain drama is shown, which are sometimes not a perfect representation of a culture, place or community.

Just caught a few episodes of this too. Your summary is helpful context. I agree the slogans they taut are shallow and doesn’t really dig deep into the cultural shift they say their group is all about, but I think that’s typical for reality shows. Also I believe there is a parallel example for DV in the Jersey shore cast for those interested in how reality producers have handled a male cast member with DV drama. Cool to hear you’re around in WA, idk what the hype is about the soda shop (I don’t drink it!) but I think you can get what you’re looking for at the coffee drive throughs!

@@crybully that’s super interesting about jersey shore. That was such a popular show when I was a teenager. I’ll have to look into that. I’m glad you agree with some of the points I made and that it made sense what I was trying to say lol! The soda shops are definitely overhyped but I do love a good soda on a Friday afternoon for example. I think I should recreate one of my favorite types in a vlog to show you all.

You speak your points with such grace and clarity, everything was so well said! Also, did you say that you are visiting Washington state?! :) I grew up there, but living in Idaho now. Hope you are enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and the one soda shop nearby, haha! :)

Hi Cynthia, I will echo what a few others have said- I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, commonly known as "Mormons," and the show is just truly disingenuous in the way it presents our faith, and it's sad to have these women somehow representing "Mormon Women" in television. Thank you for your analysis and insight. Love you, Cynthia!

Thank you for sharing! I can feel it must be frustrating for all those of you who are members of the church to see it being depicted negatively!! I feel for you 🩷

Hi Cynthia! I love your channel! I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While I have watched bits and pieces. I do not think the show paints an accurate portrayal of the vast majority of Latter-day Saint women from what I have seen. First, most of the sisters that I know are heavily involved in Church auxiliary function, volunteer work, and not to mention their families. We also all look out for each other and even have sisters ministering to us or to us to one another. Next, most of the sisters I know are really into as you said bettering themselves. I know of a young sister (probably about early 20s) who is currently studying at medical school to become a doctor after having twins! I know of tons of sisters who have a military background and other various professional work. The petty drama while does exist (as it does everywhere) on a subtly basis, but is not as prevalent as the show is showing to viewers. Then again, I guess every area and people is different so I digress. Then again, reality TV, right? **EDIT** There are a couple of things that I would like to add. Young marriage is extremely common in the Church. I know of 3 Elder missionaries that served in my wards Mission area bounds who have already gotten married. I also have heard that students attending BYU (Brigham Young University) really do get married quickly there. I would also like to say that we do not generally see sex as taboo. Most of us just do not talk about it in a public setting and see it as a private, sacred as you have said earlier. I am sure there are LDS couples who do use "tools" as a way to enhance their intimacy. Sex outside of marriage is heavily frown upon in the Church.

THANK YOU for the insight!! So basically, this show IS a distorted portrayal of “regular” LDS women🤔
