Foresty, you pointed out in the logbook at the cabin that a lady named Kim Gardner had been to the cabin numerous times and that she is well known. I had never heard of her. I found an online article about her in Adventure Sports Journal. Her story of overcoming serious difficulties in her life by running up and down mountains was very inspirational. Thank you for noticing her log entries and mentioning her in the video. You and Kim have a lot in common because you both are people who serve as good role models and sources of inspiration to all of us. Thank you for that also!

I live in Vegas, and I really enjoy exploring the old ghost towns and mining cabins around this area...and yeah, you hit the nail on the head. The most amazing thing about all of them is...how in the hell did they get the materials up there to build that stuff?? We have helicopters, and engines, and modern technology. They had mules and donkeys. When it's 120F outside, in the desert, in a place with no natural springs... there's a cabin, or a hole in the ground where they were mining. It's just incredible how they did all that stuff 100+ years ago. Great video, Foresty!

Dude! You are the real deal!! You remind me of my buddies and I when I was in my 20s. We finally made it up Rabbit Peak after 3 attempts. Bad weather foiled us the first two times. Mt Martinez, Jacinto and Gorgonio of course, Toro... all stuff in So Cal. One January my buddy and I headed to Death Valley to do a full traverse of the Panamints ridge but there had been a series of warm rains from the gulf of California that melted all the snow we would need to get us up to the top of the ridge. The first snow that was available for melting and cooking would have been a 10000 ft climb up out of Death Valley. So we decided to grab some beverages and camp out in a cool spot in the desert in the valley. I was inspired by Galen Rowell and his book and series of photos of him and someone else, it may have been Yvon Chouinard, who did the trip. One trip my buddy and I did was an overnighter in the Mitchell Peaks. It's this really cool mountain range out in the eastern Mohave still in California. We could only do an overnighter because we had to pack all of our water. I actually almost died up there. I started sliding down a slope that was a little icy and my pack ended up getting caught by a downed log allowing my body to slide through😗. We made it back to the car next day and the ranger informed us it was day use only. My buddy's car had a tire that was missing a valve stem so we had to deal with putting the spare on. We had some crazy times! I love your little doggy!! I like your vibe a lot. I'll sub for sure. Peace. NQU

Foresty, I know that you do not like to answer silly questions, so maybe you will not answer this... But I was wondering if you have ever had any strange experiences in the many remote historical cabins and fire lookouts that you have stayed in. Personally, if I stayed in a place like that overnight by myself, I do not think that I would get much sleep because I would be concerned about a possible encounter with some sort of spirit of a former old miner resident who used to live there. That cabin was incredibly cool and historical, and you are very brave to stay there alone like that! Glad you had Rocko there with you for protection!

It's a real pioneer skill, to pile up a fireplace like that that will "draw." Understandable it took some time to warm up and pull the smoke. Foresty, There was a news report recently about some tourists in Canyonlands National Park who were caught on camera stealing old artifacts from a historical cowboy camp in the national park. You and other content creators who cover historical cabins are correct to try and reveal as little as possible about the location of these special places. If people want to visit them, let them do their own research to find out where they are. Those who are genuinely interested and willing to do this research, are probably going to be people who are more respectful and not likely to vandalize or steal things. I did not understand this concept at first, but now it makes a lot of sense.
