Hello everyone! Join me in a suffer fest to reach the top of Mt. Morgan, a nearly 14,000 ft mountain in California. Then, I hike up to see an abandoned mining town from the early 1900s.

Crockpot! Sometimes I think about if Rocko had landed with a family that did a couple walks around the neighbourhood and maybe a visit to a dog park. What a life she is living with you. So much adventure. Really refreshing that those cabins haven't been trashed by ding dongs.

I don't know for sure, but I would bet that there are volunteers who stay there to prevent that. I used to work for the US Forest Service in California, and unless facilities such as that are securely locked up, and/or visited regularly by staff or volunteers, or stayed in by volunteers, they do tend to get vandalized.

@@doberski6855 Ya, I'm so soft, I could never keep up. I remember seeing a video of someone who got to hike with Foresty once and he couldn't believe how fast he is. I mean, I think 20 km in a day with 800m elevation is LOT.

I am honestly so glad to hear someone else mention Dick Proenneke's name. I have admired that man for a very long time, and how fitting as you, Forresty, could easily be seen as something of a modern age version. That mining town is truly impressive, and clearly such a community investment to be respected and taken seriously. Long may it retain the expansive depth of artifacts that allow one to immerse themselves in a lost lifestyle of grit and determined perseverance, to provide us with the foundation of the luxuries we all know today. Go back to the beginning, to the cycling videos way back to 2014... Same F.F., different medium! He did some amazing tours, with the best relaxing style of filming and editing, etc, even back then! Even Iohan Gueorguiev ( kzbin.info/aero/PLOrCDDpk39gq3jG4ftOO9JXuCONU_p4nM ) listed Simon as one of his major inspirations. Both of them inspired many long distance cycle tourist, including me, to get off the the highway and onto roads less traveled.

Y'know, Forrest... when I was a kid, I was a wage slave working for peanuts in the sweat shops too. Gawd, how I hated it and how I dreamed of having adventures like yours. But I had a family and responsibilities and though I got out of that life eventually... I never got round to having the adventures you have. By the time I was able to get away it was too late. I was too old for grueling hikes and climbs. Thanks for these vids, kid. They soothe my soul and make my day. I like that you are including travelling companions too. It's annoying when the snow has a crust on top but is kinda soft underneath. You're just up to your knees or further and it's super difficult to make headway. Kudos for cracking on through it.
