Decided to check out the upper reaches of a stream that hadn't fished well last year. I was pleasantly suprised with loads of wild brookies and a few browns as well. The water levels were perfect and the fish aggressive and I had an amazing day catching wild trout on my fly rod.

Really loved the intro - exceptional. I mentioned this before, but when you have some down time I would love to see a video of all (or most of) your introductions. It would be a worthwhile and rich video all by itself.

The intros are super time intensive but probably the most rewarding.

What an epic day and nice little creek. I've had a number of days this year so far where the brookie fishing has been fire, I bet if you had stayed until dusk you would have picked up another 20 fish or so. I applaud you for that tight casting under the branches, that's snag city. And had that big brown been a brookie, lord...

And of course, the rest of the video was exceptional as well. I always feel as if I'm your sidekick, back up on the streambank, watching, quietly staying out of your way and maybe even lugging your gear for you.

I know I agree but early season I find the fishing stays pretty good but as it warms I try to get out earlier or later but I'm not a great early riser haha!

Beautiful filming, not to take away from the fishing, but those drone shots and land/stream scapes get me fired up! I've fished CNY streams all my life, so much of your footage looks familiar. One that I fish held browns, brookies and rainbows. Another was like fishing on the west branch of the Ausable. One question, what was the dropper nymph you called a gartner or garden, couldn't quite hear it? Thanks again for a great video!

Its called Gardeners Never Bug, pretty basic but short and heavy, very buggy looking, works great

@@deaddriftoutdoors2940 Thanks John, I'll have to look it up. When I come across overhanging limbs in faster currents I'll pull my fly and leader, especially with a Usual, under water so I don't get snagged on the limb. More often than not a fish will come out and slam the fly. Thanks again.

Wonderful, as always! About 2/3rds of the way through, are those banks as infested with Japanese Knotweed as they look? If so, do you think that has any negative effect on the stream health?
@deaddriftoutdoors2940
@deaddriftoutdoors2940 3 ай бұрын
So Knotweed is everywhere on many of these creeks. It thrives in creeks that have flashy floods as the native veg is washed away and it can take take root with just a tiny piece of dislodged root structure. It can provide minimal cover and the root system can provide some stabilization but generally it has a very negative effect. Studies have shown that its incredible growth in the summer sucks up massive amounts of water and the plant crowds out native plants and trees that would provide far greater shade and bank stabilization. I absolutely hate the stuff and cringe when I see it which is everyday. Invasives are everywhere and its very frustrating.

I am not the greatest at getting out of the house early. Honestly I usually aim for 9/10 am on these streams, but as it warms up or when the tricos are popping I go earlier. Thanks for the comment
