lol. to make a scrunchie, it’s just to fold a rectangle of fabric in half and sew it length wise, then put elastic that’s half the length through it, then connect all of it together in another sewed line. i like sewing them with fabric that matches my clothes i make.

Scrunchies are the best thing for my thick, long and curly hair. Any other type of ponytail always rips a chunk of my hair out when I try to remove it. I'm also not into accessorizing much, but luckily they make small and more neutral colored scrunchies which are just perfect for me.

@@rachelcookie321 They make small, tight, cotton scrunchies. I've also had scrunchies slip out of my hair, but it was because they had a thicker surrounding cloth and made out of silk or velvet. But if you google small, tight, cotton scrunchies you may see some you've never tried before. The ones that work best for my thick, crazy mess of tangled curls are usually dull and plain in color. Thicker, cute scrunchies that are more like accessorizes don't hold my hair tight enough at all.

As a daughter of a tailor I can say that the stitch the materials in both the machines had at the ends is really good for preventing freying when done well. But all of them were done pretty badly and not finished correctly, that's why there was freying. Also, it really should be done with a thread that matches the fabric in colour as it isn't supposed to be a pretty stitch, just a functional one ☺️ also, I wear scrunchies all the time and I've paid a ridiculous amount of money for them so thank you h&m, I will be making my own from now on if it's that easy✌🏻

when I was a lot younger I went to a sewing camp where you could learn how to sew. In the end i made a draw string bag for my gym clothes for school. At the end of camp, when we were all finished with our projects and just for fun, the instructor taught us how to make scrunchies out of scrap fabric. So I already knew how to make a scrunchie before I started watching this video. So for me this toy was just ridiculous P.S. I’m so so glad that scrunchies are making a come back. I loved those things growing up. I thought they were very useful and it’s a different way of showing your style.

I did pony tail holders growing up, and they worked fine for me. It wasn't until COVID and I couldn't go in for my regular hair cuts to keep the hair splitting at bay when I made the switch to scrunchies because they're supposed to be kinder on your hair. I'm now loving the fact that I can accessories better with them and it allows me to add even more pink to every outfit! I actually had a scrunchie maker as a kid too (it was the 90's and my aunts tried their best to keep me on trend), and it came with the little end clippies that ended up coming apart every time I tried to use the scrunchie in my hair.

My hair was always too fine for scrunchies, but even if it wasn't I was a MAJOR tomboy as a kid and aggressively rebelled against anything girly like scrunchies or hair clips. On the rare occasions I would put my hair up, I just used plain black rubber bands. I'm all about cute hair bows and headbands as an adult now. If I had long hair maybe I'd give scrunchies another shot, if only as a decoration on top of a rubber bandl

Well this looks really interesting! Though I learned how to in a clothing and textiles class, and it's really an easy project to do Seeing the first kit now, it looks like they essentially presew the long edge of the scrunchie (something you could do with a sewing machine, or by hand I suppose) and then the machine is just to pull the elastic through the tube (something you could do with a pair of safety pins and a fair amount of patience. EDIT: Or, as she shows, literally just thread it through.) I... guess if you're a small child that doesn't know how to use a sewing machine, this kit would be fine, but I also would think if you're really into scrunchies you would rather make your own with custom fabrics Also, the lack of measurements on how long the elastic should be is painful.

I used to have scrunchies in the olden days (in the 80s!), when my hair was long, and I actually made them myself. I did learn how to use a sewing machine at an early age, so this machine seems like an overly complicated alternative to a safety pin to me. But for that price, I guess it's not complete trash - to buy just the materials could cost as much.

Trust me srunchies are much healthier for your hair than the regular rubber bands (especially if you have thick, long or curly hair, maybe even all of those). They sort of received a bad name when they became big again somewhere in 2015? not sure what year. Most likely because it was considered "too girly" but their image is starting to rebuild. if you ever find a silk scrunchie I 100% recommend it, if not other scrunchies work well too.

I am someone that uses scrunchies all the time because I have fine hair but A LOT. I also don't cut it often so it's below my waist. I used to use rubber bands, but it hurt so much that I moved to scrunchies. I may have to redo my hair more often, but I will take that over pain any day. Plus, I can make my own :3

As a late 80s baby/90s kid grain, I grew up with mostly scrunchies. I was a bit of a baby about my hair and anything pulling on it too tightly, so rubber bands and other thin hair ties weren’t my favorite. I love that scrunchies are back!

I hate to say this, but in light of recent events, I will no longer support anything connected with the Harry Potter series. I'll still watch the videos Jackie, but do know I am very uncofortable with the Sofie and Toffee subscription plug, as they should know better. It upsets me greatly that they don't, and no amount of nostalgia can change that.

@@sOuRrRrRrs JK Rowling has made some transphobic comments in her social medias and her books also have transphobic undertones in them, and she still makes a cut from HP licences. Arguably she also queerbaits in her books. There is other issues too but the transphobia is the main evil.

I understand how you feel. Jo’s hatefulness really broke my heart as someone who loved the series, and had quite an extensive collection of memorabilia. But if you take a moment to look deeper into the themes and magical creatures in the books, you can see it was problematic from the start. It was just easy to overlook because the books were just so readable and the characters so relatable. I don’t blame Jackie, though. As you can see by the comments above mine, even in 2023 there are people who haven’t yet learned about Rowling’s terrifying impact on the rights of the trans community.

Jackie, I started supporting/subscribing to you because of how wonderfully inclusive you were to the neurodiverse/disability community. I'm so disappointed that Sophie and Toffee has this box, because they definitely know better. JK Rowling does not deserve any more of our money after the way she has chosen to use her platform against the Trans community. I really like you, Jackie, and the way you're always so inclusive so I'm giving you personally the benefit of the doubt that you didn't know. But I will not be buying from Sophie and Toffee due to this and I really hope you release a follow up video to this that states that you 100% support transgender rights.

It's sad to see the HP plug in the video, but I'm going to give Jackie the benefit of the doubt. You can't just suddenly drop a sponsorship, and it's your livelyhood since KZbin monetization is shakey as hell. No idea if Sophie and Toffee pays royalties to use HP stuff, but if they do that goes directly to her. I'd encourage y'all to not buy anything HP or support anything of that nature and buy books from trans authors instead (esp trans women of color)

im not trying to start anything here, but im a little disappointed in the endorsement of harry potter, considering jkr is known to be a violent transphobe (specifically transmisogynist) who is currently using her bigotry to her advantage right now to promote her new work. im not trying to say jackie is a bad person at all, and im not attacking her if she didnt know that already, but if she wants to protect kids and her viewers its important to remember that her audience includes people harmed by jkr's actions. being such a big creator on here and having such a large audience to promote such a horrible person to is contributing to jkr's reach and enabling fans to pay for her stuff, and shes known to use her money to contribute to anti trans groups in the uk

I love your videos, but unfortunately I had to stop watching this once I saw it was sponsored by a Harry Potter license product. J. K. Rowling has been very bigoted towards transgender people lately, and a lot of us are trying to boycott her products now. Which is sad because I grew up loving Harry Potter in my high school days and dedicated a lot of time and energy to it, and it’s hard for a lot of people I understand. I hope to watch you in the next video and that Sophie and toffee have a better licensee soon.
