2 press advice excellent, I run RCBS Rebel and a RCBS Partner next to it. Resize case with 10 second dwell while running a case through a expander die, lube a new case and repeat. Trimming is done separately on a Lyman trim express. Bullet seating with Wilson in line seater… thanks for the inspiration Keith!

I use a Forster Co-Axe press and I'm very happy with it. I'm retired so I have time on my hands, I don't need to spend money chasing rabbit holes. But I can see if I had a full time job maybe this would make sense.

I’ve had an RCBS Summit press for years. I love it. I got it because I watched a KZbin review that compared it with a number of other more expensive presses and the concentricity of the summit was the best.

What process are you handling with the Summit in this scenario? Getting necks right with a mandrel?

I use the Summit as my bullet seating press - of course I run the RCBS MatchMaster Comp. Seating die Great little press that I can quickly and easily mount / dismount on my reloading bench.

I've got an RCBS rebel i use with a universal decapper. I can really get to flipping the light handle and ram when i get in a groove. I then use a Rockchucker Supreme for sizing. Great stout press for the step requiring the most force. And finally i use the Summit for bullet seating. I bought it knowing it has a weak point, if used for sizing healthy sized brass repeatedly. But it's a great press, and should i ever push it to failure, we fan boys already know of the RCBS customer service.

Did the same thing with the same press last year! Works great for me.

I have used 2 presses for some time. First press FL sizes, then goes into press with expander, then to rcbs brass prep station brushing neck and cutting inside of neck (for cases my henderson wont reach due to not enough expansion under pressure yet), then to my Henderson for inside outside and neck trim. Each sized case stays in my sizer for enough "dwell" time while performing the other steps. Then to the tumbler for 2 hours. Prime and rexpand neck just before powder and seating. I find assembly line type operations makes the monotony part of this not so boring. The older I get the more I am eying a Dillion automated. :)

The Summit makes for a fantastic auxiliary press, I use it for everything *other* than resizing, which it's quite poor at, what with a couple of issues i've had. Hopefully you've got the upgraded model with the newer bolts. The old bolts were threaded too long/shoulder too short resulting in the threads coming into contact with the soft casting resulting in imprinting and damage. RCBS will send it for free if needed.

I used an old old Lee challenger that was given to me..sloppy ram.....had some great results with it with Lee neck collet and seating dies... Then I got excited about the sloppy ram and got a redding big boss.2....anf lost the ability to feel when neck collet used...and squished a few mandrels. The Lee neck collet die and seating die are floating...I'm pretty sure...and Lee said the slop doesn't matter cos it locks up...I thinks.. Now I neck size with Lee hand press.. Was looking at the Redding version of that Lee press...a huge ram....for extra rigidity and less run out...😉🤷😏
@johnny30806Ай бұрын
@ why on earth are you still next sizing your cases? You only need to bump the shoulder back 0.002 of an inch with a full length sizing die to get better accuracy.
@thepracticalriflemanАй бұрын
I have like six or seven presses. I may have a problem.
@philipng6598Ай бұрын
I like the fact that summit press have little to no slack. My cases have 0.002” runout or less using it I guess that’s why you use it with mandrel expander

Did I hear you right, that you had a press mounted upside down for bullet pulling? Could you show how you do that?

This video is the first I have heard of "dwell" time during the reloading process. Can you provide more information on why you have a dwell time in your reloading process? What benefit does it have?
@jeffmiller243321 күн бұрын
I use dwell time as well. Just 3 seconds and only for my Redding body dies. I find it helps get more consistency. My neck sizing is done with a Lee collet die, so it’s two handle presses for each case ( 2nd at 180 degrees, so no dwell time needed. )

And in addition to the above question, what lube are you using, and how and at what point in the process are you cleaning it off?
@whlivingАй бұрын
@@peterconnan5631 I believe he normally sprays a few shots of Dillon case lube in a ziplock bag with his brass and then agitates the brass with his hands followed by dumping the brass into a pan to allow the alcohol from the lube to flash off.

@@whliving i thought it was Hornady's 1 shot? Will have to go looking for that video again, but also it might have changed in the mean time?
@whlivingАй бұрын
@@peterconnan5631 he mentioned it in another video and hearted my comment above. So yes, it is Dillon. You can also make your own which is less expensive and easy to do. It’s merely lanolin and alcohol. I forget the ratio, but there are videos on KZbin.

Has anyone tried using a progressive press to speed up your process?
@dinoc.5537Ай бұрын
Once you have your process dialed in, you can move it to automation if it makes sense. Automation is a trade-off like anything else. It isn't always the right answer, but when it does make sense it us usually a slam dunk for time savings... with batch size usually being the driver.

I was looking for part two of your video on an annealing 2 years ago and how it affects accuracy. I couldn’t find it so just wanted to ask how do you feel that annealing your brass affect your accuracy or what is the good of it? In your opinion… thanks

What is the 10 second dwell for?
@winninginthewind5 күн бұрын
It prevents me from short-stroking the press more than anything. There is also some anecdotal data that suggests it results in slightly reduced variation from the sizing process.
@Mykaelous5 күн бұрын
@@winninginthewind So I assume you drop the press lever to seat the bullet and then let it sit for 10 sec as you do other things, or do you hold it down for 10 sec to fully seat the bullet?
