So RE-HIIT sounds a lot like what Dr Sean O'Mara talks about regarding sprinting. He says he no longer supports high intensity interval training as the most effective. He says it needs to be **maximum** intensity and it's fully effective! He said sprinting is number one followed possibly by boxing but sprinting at your **full maximum capacity** for even anything between 11 and 30 up to 50 second sprint is better exercise than any long-distance running or anything else.

Dr Sean is spot on!

Wow, my trainer just told me to do this on my spin bike. Thank you for backing this up. Hoping to break thru a weight plateau with this help.

I enjoyed the 53 minutes. Could I ask you to please explain how to exercise very similar to this, but if I don't have the $ to buy a Carol bike? For example, a bike at the gym or home, how can I simulate the 20 seconds system?
@rebeccanelon6228Ай бұрын
I would like to know the same thing. BEN, can you please answer this question for us?

Get a heartbeat monitor like a fitbit, garmin, apple watch, whatever you have, to monitor your heart rate. Set the resistance to a medium level, not too high, where you are comfortable with. Warm up for 2 Minutes at a medium speed. Sprint 20 seconds, go all out as hard as you can. Go up to over 100 pedal revs per minute, if your bike can display it. Cool down for 1-3 Minutes, as long as you need. If you need 4 or 5 minutes in the beginning, that‘s OK. Do a 2nd sprint for 20 seconds, all out as before. Cool down for 3 Minutes. Done. Listen to your body. It tells you, if it‘s too much for now, so go a bit less and wait until your body adapts, then you can go a bit further. You should go a bit over your limits, but no too far. If you are used to it, you can do 30 seconds or a 3rd sprint, but not too much, because it would increase cortisol and inflammation, which you want to avoid. Do this 2 to 3 times per week. Give your body, your heart, your lungs and your mitochondria the time it needs to adapt. The key is to go all out, as much as you can. This will give your body the impulse to adapt and to grow. You will see and feel results in a couple of weeks or two or three months.

I appreciate you!! Thank you so much for listening to the entire interview and hitting like. You can simulate this and get the VO2Xmax benefits with sprinting. 20 second all out sprint. 90 second rest, 2-3 sets. Doing this 2-3 times per week will help!
@youbou5081Ай бұрын
so 2x 20 sec sprints on a bike 3x per week will restore a decade of vo2max loss 😊

Thank you so much for all these great videos, Ben! I was wondering if you know of a French equivalent to all of this information. I want to help my friend who is French learn more about these dietary approaches so he can reverse diabetes and drop some weight but he does not speak English fluently. Is there a way to create French subtitles for these videos?
@KetoKampАй бұрын
Thank you soo much. I am not sure about the french subtitles but I would absolutely love to get this info to the French!

Oh my gosh! Seriously this type of exercise routine has been around since Body for Life days. No expensive bike needed when you can just use your cheap Timex watch and you don’t need even that - just count it out. Not surprised you are promoting yet another expensive do-dad. Do-dads are what you spend your money on and toss in the garage when tired of it. At the end of 30 years you look back and realize why you are broke. My personal favorite- the shake weight. I had three. 😊😂

I considered sprinting on the track with a stopwatch, too. The issue with that is that a reasonably fit person can run over 100 m in 20 seconds so then you have to think about whether you want to start or stop in the curve. Then you'd have to slow your sprint to look at your watch unless someone can signal you. If so, where do they stand if you're running through the curve at a sprint? And assuming the track is available and the weather cooperates. I settled on using an elliptical machine because I wanted upper body benefit as well. I use a free interval timer app so I don't have to mess with it once I've started the workout. It's not perfect but it's not so simple as saying use your watch for free. I'm skeptical anyone could actually count 20 exact seconds while running at a full out sprint. It's enough effort to breathe at that intensity.

Spinning! Been addicted for over 20 years! You must have a spin bike with enough resistance to stand.
