Play the longer circuits. Those short 2/3 lap races are not going to get you familiar with the track and don't really give you a race as much as it is a chase to shove your way to the front of the pack. As you get better at the racing lines and break points for each track the 2/3 lap races become much easier to get to the front without having to shove anymore.
@YoungMulaBaby8082 жыл бұрын

@@YoungMulaBaby808 Considering that your initial complaint was about having to start in the back and work to get to the front of the pack, it would stand to reason that getting to the front was the issue, especially since you said that you have to shove to get to the front. Having been a long time GT player myself I wouldn't describe my quick overtake of first place from the AI as me shoving the AI. The AI right now on hard is pretty much just running the best line with the best time that the game gives you in the assist option, overtaking them should be easy for someone who knows the track and the track limits which the AI doesn't use. As for the game AI quality and it being better.....that problem will be solved by GT Sophy in singleplayer, (which is why the singleplayer requires online) but if you want more competition than the current AI......why not try the online???? You get a qualifying so if you are good you can start each race near the front and it will give you that real "race" feeling. Clearly you are not complaining about playing online having to start in the back and having to shove yourself to the front, or at least I hope not😳😳😳
@MichaelJP2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, a simple solution to this would be for Polyphony to add a "race length" feature like Forza 7. 2-3 lap races are for kids/plebs with short attention spans or adults that pull super aggressive overtakes you'd rarely attempt in real life. Kinda undermines the whole "simulation" label.
@corey_massey2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelJP But the game already has that though. The menu races are supposed to be short and kinda take you through a quick progression for each track and each circuit and earn you some cars to begin your garage. You can at any time once you've unlocked a track or circuit go back and set a race of any course with the laps more indicative of a real race. It makes it so that you can overtake over time rather than bullying your way to the front. In harder settings the leader will jump out to a huge lead if you are not running a tight race.

Hey folks. Thank you for watching the video! Due to logistical and tech issues, this actually took 2 weeks to put together, and was no small effort, so I appreciate it, even though the video is very 'casually late'. A few people have inferred that I was using counter steering assist on the wheel due to some of the B-roll footage in the video. I experimented with assists while I was stranded using the controller for the first week. After moving to wheel, I noticed the cars acted really strangely on the limit , only to realise that counter steering assist was still on! Turns out a lot of the on board B-roll footage was captured during this first day. The cars became a lot easier to drive after I disabled it, so I'd recommend you do the same. This wasn't done to make anything 'easier'. The 'assist' actually made cars awful and snappy on the limit. Would not recommend. All of my opinions regarding GT7's force feedback were formed with steering assists off! Cheers.

Great review! The bits on physics and sound design were very informative. The AI is probably my biggest complaint with GT7, definitely. I've had some AI pretend I'm not there and bump me off the racing line, and other AI cars panic that I'm there and lose a lot of their own pace. Starting at the back every time is a little samey, as well. I am definitely a racing "casual" at heart, though, so the overall chill atmosphere and celebration of car culture keeps me coming back to Gran Turismo. Running a T300RS/TH8A with G27 pedals (Ricmotech adaptor), all mounted to a Wheel Stand Pro with RGS, and having an absolute blast with this game.

One problem I struggle with in this game is the horrid snap oversteer. Especially in long high speed corners it feels like the rear end just gives out and the moment you go to correct it your snapped back around the other way. I tried the game on my T300 and it felt awful quite honestly. It was force and no feedback lol. I'm hoping they fix these issues because I do still enjoy the game. However they have other major concerns to address such as the push for micro transactions which has the whole community upset. Spot on review, and overall very accurate, though there are two things I'd like to point out: 1) while the career is entertaining, it's quite short as of now, lacking Gr.1 (Le Mans cars) events, for example, and the fact a player can complete all the menu books in one week without grinding. Also, the licenses required to finish all the menu books are only the first two, national b and national a, you can safely ignore the two internationals and the super license since they are not required to progress through the menu books; 2) the in game economy is busted, especially after update 1.07: tuning a car is quite costly, with a set of slick tires costing more than some cars, and the price of some cars being extremely inflated (on GT Sport a Skyline R34 would cost 61k credits, while on GT7 over 400k). Besides that, there aren't many ways of making enough money for cars available for a limited time such as invitations for Brand Central or cars at the legendary dealership, and with the best method to make money being more than halved in the last update, buying said cars or being able to tune different vehicles to be competitive for weekly online racing can lead to quite a grind for which many people simply don't have time to. Besides those two points, that's a very well polished review, awesome work!

I very much disagree about the career mode, I was left wanting much more than just 39 tick-box menu books. I wanted many more championships with gr.4 or gr.3 cars and was left feeling very empty after realising that the 5 race championship was the final one. The career mode never gave any reason to buy something more expensive than a Gr.3 car for 450,000 credits. None of the "career mode" races even feature fuel usage or tyre wear. Also none of the career mode events require you to complete anything more than the second set of license tests. It is my belief that this box-ticking menu book system is a rather poor structure for a career mode. Furthermore the game just throws cars at you so often that it is very difficult to feel that any of them are particularly special. The racing of the game was very fun and enjoyable which is why I was so disappointed that there was not a lot more to work towards in the career-mode. I am hoping there will be a lot of post-launch content added. In terms of how long it takes complete the career mode events I am sure it is far far shorter than GT5 or GT6. GT7 has all of the fundamentals for a great game (driving experience, handling, feel and atmosphere) but is severely lacking in content.

I don't understand what the title of this video means. Biggest issue with GT7 is, as far as single player goes, that it's not actually a racing game. You start at the back, and have very few laps to catch the leader. To do so in time, you need to be much faster than the entire grid, making overtakes childs play, and the opponents little else than moving cones on a track. This has been modus operandi for all GT games, and while there's definitively entertainment to be had, for me it gets a bit samey after a while

There's one thing I don't understand as a player who played the whole franchise. You can't sell your cars and there are no prize cars in the tournament, prize cars used to be a major way of income before. And now they removed that and make race rewards much less than before.

spot on. The likes of Super GT and Kie have asked that followers of their channels not buy into the microtransactions. I, for one, will not buy extra credits. 18:00 the answer is yes. They do add to the handling of the car. For example, Fitting a front lip and/or spoiler will give you extra tuning options in the downforce setting. Changing the oil when using a particular car a lot keeps the pp up… and a wide body can add to grip levels. Agree that is not very well explained and they’re are in a weird location. Absolutely love the game tho. The engine swaps are hilariously fun.

It’s actually really good to see, how fans are so united in this. Gran Turismo is a real dynasty in gaming history, and many usually blindly support the game they like usually to the detriment of everything. The game that you used to like were a 9/10 in its time, but slowly the quality and standards are lowered to a 6/10 maybe 5/10, but you don’t really realize it because you get conditioned over time. This time around here, everyone are just saying, enough is enough. Don’t sandbag the game’s potential in favour of manipulating your fans for quick monetary success. Raise the standards!

in my experience the fall off from holding to spinning or understeer happens too quickly. I use to be able to enter a corner a little to hot I could lightly tap the brakes and the nose would tuck in. now it's immediate abs and the car plows off track. or am I a bad driver?

depends on the car cornering with a slower car is fairly realistic i’ve noticed the issue with gt3 cars a car with that big of a wing should not feel floaty around corners and not handle like shit

A really good review. We are told there is much more to come for this game, which is good, because the frustrations the community is having with parts of it need to be addressed, or many will move on. In saying all that, the handling physics were a rude shock from GT Sport's more arcade approach. It seemed that every tyre class had grip levels downgraded, there's more lateral movement, and the line between grip and slip is much finer. All in all, it's so much more challenging and thoroughly enjoyable, with weight transfer genuinely making a difference to grip and turn-in. I'm delighted with the driving physics. Regarding the progression and game economy, I feel that free cars are thrown to players too easily, but that's a completely different argument (it needs substantial revision in my view). That is a flaw in it as a 'game' rather than the driving and racing feel. There are endless possibilities for the driving, tuning and car ownership in this game. If you get with a group of trusted and clean drivers in a regular league, this may just be the most enjoyment you are likely to have because you can arrange to drive 320PP front wheel drive cars on comfort soft tyres one night, then fully tuned 700PP time attack cars on another, with everything in between.

Definitely agree on the AI front - the most frustrating thing is that they just don't use their mirrors when you're approaching much faster. And when you do make contact, you're pretty much dead whilst they keep pootling around.

Hey mate, if you do wheel vs controller, can you PLEASE be the first or so to try the sensors on the DualSense? I'm using this controller for PC sim racing titles and it's honestly impressively good. Add the haptic feedback to that, and I guess it can be a poor man's wheel.

Didn't know you were a career sound designer, Ermin- real cool stuff. I've often wondered what sort of sounds I am hearing while in the cockpit in ACC. Particularly that sort of toned beep that would emit during downshifting and slowing. Any idea what that might be? 13:03 for reference to the time where you can hear the beep I am referring to.

It's a downshift warning at high RPMs - Designed to limit too rapid paddle downshifting to avoid engine damage.

Great review! Very fair, well considered and of course I agree completely :D I've been playing the GT games since getting the first as a Japanese import and this is the best one in years! As a game - instead of a sim - it teaches ALL the PC titles like AC/AC/AMS/RF2/R3E etc some real lessons: sense of progress, narrative, reasons to come back to play again - and again. It's so well crafted. The racing is really good, too. But I wish that, say, R3E would add a similar campaign/career mode - even if it was DLC. GT7 is a blast even on pad, but I dream of this kind of magical game for my PC VR wheel set-up

A lot of things people are complaining about are normal, and have been explained by the devs. Like no real damage. Explained like 3 gran turismos ago. I also think payouts changed based on number of laps and your PP level in gt6. Still sucks though.

@@TheWavyWorldOfJuice car manufacturers, some, if not a lot of them don’t want their cars looking bad, been like this for decades. Not the same for racing cars normally, but road cars are an issue, so that combined with them not having to put the work in is where we are.

If you'd love to play "real" sim racing titles on PC but can't afford to spend $20k on a 5 year old GPU, this game is for you. It scratches that racing itch, there are leagues a plenty, and it's physics depth is perfectly substantial to keep you engaged. It's the sim for people who can't afford a PC. Yeah ACC is there, but good luck trying to find someone to play.

In gt5, I got a Supra just for some specific Japanese race, because it was o lot like 30k credits, I maxed turned it to make 700hp and it beat the Veyron (which was like the newest supercar everyone wanted) so it kinda defeated the point of actually buying one, but it was hilarious to see a Supra demolishing a Veyron
