So I am thinking, to convert this to a diabetic/keto friendly recipe, I would need to remove the brown sugar and dates/prunes and replace with monkfruit sweetener and a thickener like Xanthan Gum - probably add some courgette / zucchini also ?

I am making this right now. It is the third time making it. Perfect recipe. You need to make it before the last batch finishes as it is best having been left in the fridge for at least two weeks before eating. I too live in a very far flung country and really appreciate being able to make my own Branston pickle so thank you very much for this.

Delightful! I am American born and raised in California at that! I watch the program 'Jollie' and that is where I was introduced to Branston Pickle. BUT . . . Not how it tasted, YET! That is, until my wife ordered it from Britain for $10 Bucks!! Along with HP sauce (Brown Kethcup), Salad Cream and Marmite . . Everything else was not so good to our pallets. I have used salad cream a couple times with my beer battered fish . . . HOWEVER! the Branston was a winner and still is! My wife has ordered a second jar in less than a week! Now I cannot eat a melted cheese sandwhich without it! I am on my way to the store with your recipe so I don't have to pay $10 a week!

I hear you. I still order marmite but everything else I make. It is so rewarding when you make your own sauces and of course it saves you money and still gives you a taste of home. Thanks for saying Hi, Have a great week and fun cooking:)

How is Branston pickle unlike a chutney?
@junjunmacam28942 жыл бұрын
It's very sour
@dee22512 жыл бұрын
@@junjunmacam2894 it’s not. It sweet and tangy. Branston Pickle is just a brand name for ploughman’s pickle which is a chutney and is traditionally eaten in England with a ploughman’s lunch, which consists of crusty bread & butter, a big wedge of cheese, ham, with tomato, salad, & a pickled onion or two on the side.

Thank you so much for making this tutorial I'm a qualified chef by trade but never really ventured into pickles, I think the closest I got was a caramelised onion chutney. Anyway, I've become a massive fan of cheese and pickle sandwiches and wraps and got to thinking I can take them to another level with homemade pickle, well here I am watching your video whilst on my lunch break at work. I've got all the ingredients other than prunes which I'll get ready for the weekends cooking session. Thanks again. Your new subscriber.

Hi there, thats a great question , I had to go back and watch my video ha ha . I made two large jars and half a smaller one. I am sorry I do not know the total amount but If you are making gifts then I think 4-5 smaller jars would work. This is a very ambiguous answer please forgive me. Hi! I am preparing this at the moment and it looks good so far. I'm a great fan of pickles! I was wondering if there isn't a way to make this one last longer than the two weeks mentioned in the recipe? Perhaps by using a higher proportion of vinegar to water? Thanks!
@Amandafusion15 ай бұрын
I don't want to get in trouble so I always mention a safe time but I have one in my cupboard that is over 6 months that I am saving until family come, The key is sterilizing the jar well so Yes i think you can keep it longer if this helps. I hope you enjoy. Have a great day. Amanda

Bruh I just wanted to know what was in Branston pickles beside pickles 😆 based on their appearance in other vids I honestly just expected it to be pickles and molasses or maple syrup. This on the other hand is a whole fruit and veggie salad plus sugar, spices, and condiments. Whoever had the mind to combine all these flavors in a way that thousands of ppl enjoy was a genius
