A beautiful man and a handsome man. And I'm not even gay but I'm not blind either. For those of us that can see, we can see what's what and it's very clear.

Considering that you're a straight man, what you said is beautiful. I wish straight men didn't feel uncomfortable admitting when they see a handsome man, There's nothing wrong with it.

The beautiful man is beautiful…but Colin Firth is handsome and he’s on a whole other level…love, love Colin Firth.

I saw this on its cinema release in the UK. I cannot recall seeing a more beautifully shot film. It seemed as though Ford had looked for, and found, the beautiful in the most mundane of moments and turns them into sensual, colour infused delights. Everything from Firth's home to the dropped broken glass bottle is an incredible testament to Ford and his camera team.

I read all the comments about Jon and honestly I can't take my eyes off Colin, I like his refinement, the way he carries himself, the feeling of experience I get from him. Jon is too polished for my taste, although I believe he's beautiful I can't get to the point of feeling any attraction towards him.

Dude, this movie is homoerotic to the max despite having no sex and not even kissing really. I mean in a good way, great performances
@macareuxmoine2 ай бұрын
Every homophobe should watch this. I never was one but I can tell you that as a heterosexual I can be completely seduced by this. Not respecting one sort of love just because it’s a little less common is utterly ridiculous. This movie makes this plainly visible.

Poor Colin Firth (his character); he doesn't know (and he should; he's old enough) how rare, how very rare encounters like that are. Then comes the regret.

Just to translate a little; when he says “All you need is someone to like you” the more direct translation would be “All you need is someone who would like you for real.” And the verb “querer”is used for like and love interchangeably in many cases sooo

I've always felt that the implication was that Carlos is a serial killer: note the huge movie poster of "Psycho" in the background and Carlos mentioning his mother. "Sometime awful things have their own kind of beauty."

I never saw that myself, but there's certainly an easter egg vibe from Tom Ford there. I always found this to be very touching. Initially, he plans to use him, but the moment of intellectual attraction in Spanish, as well as physical, and the beauty in horror observation is what makes the connection between them all the more authentic. This is further made clear by the use of the beautiful albeit frightening eyes backdrop. I never found it creepy, though it does highlight a predatory nature in age differences within, but not limited to, the gay community. Yet it is dispelled here when Carlos admits, in ways, that he too has been used. Its such a well made movie and I've heard it's also a great book.
