Being convinced*, that your whole life, with all of its journeys and miles of filming and days of editing, followed by hours of your 'tried and securing' voice, telling us and showing us, wonderful wonders that most will never experience and the music, which lifts our spirit adrift in the adventure; *were purposefully ordained, for such a time as this. You and your beauties, Venture and Venture II, have been such a blessing in this time of isolation, testing and perseverance. Thank You❤️ Pandemic 2020

@@bronwindraney5111 - It seems you are looking for a different kind of video. We all know what is meant by a 'viking raid', and no need in this 2020 video to go into all the gory details of those viking times. There are documentairies about them, specifically. This video is about a journey between islands, and the narrator mentions a bit of history in a decent manner. I'm convinced that the majority of viewers like the 'placid' tone of these videos, and let the sea be the unruly force to face and overcome.

During my seagoing days as a ships officer, I done a voyage on a Liberian general cargo ship which loaded aluminium oxide from Gove, Northern territories in Australia and transported it to a little port called Straumsvik, about 10 miles south of Reykjavik. The pilot boat doubled as a tug and had great difficulty pushing us alongside the small pier. The aluminium smelter was at the head of the pier and within 24 hours was turning out aluminium ingots. I wondered at the time was it worth it carrying the cargo all that way, but the same Swiss company owned both the Bauxite mine in Australia and the factory in Straumsvik. It was March when we arrived off the south coast which was shrouded in mist and we had difficulty plotting our position as these were the days before GPS and the Loran system was being run down.

Another one of your amazing adventures in these beautiful Venture boats that have certainly proved themselves to be magnificent in sometimes very difficult seas. The scenery of the Faroe Islands and Iceland is spectacular, displaying amazing geology of vulcanism and glacial activity. I remember going to Iceland on an international modelling trip where I had to play a Captain of a fishing boat operating out of Isafjordur for Findus Seafood in June 1985. I remember climbing those steep verdant slopes immediately above the town overlooking the harbour. I thank you for bringing back those wonderful memories. Keep up the great work. It is world class, every one of your videos.

THIS IS THE MOST WONDERFUL AND AMAZING TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY I HAVE EVER SEEN!. THANK YOU. - I watch all your Venture Boats trips (Aleutians, Alaska, British Columbia, Europe, Ireland, England, California, Idaho, New York). All videos are properly edited and perfectly presented. All landscapes, scenes, nature, blue sky, grey sky, deep blue sea make me feel so good. It is very soothing and entertaining. Whenever I am stressed out in my life, I always go to watch your sailing videos and it comfort me a lot. - I enjoy watching all your videos (on my 72" flat screen TV - SONY) all time, every weekend from my home in Los Angeles. Even though I am not fortunate like you to circumnavigate the globe and travel on own boat, your sea journey and wonderful voyage videos have brought many delights and good feeling to me. Tony your travelogues are absolutely first class! When I think of the Faroes I see hundreds of dolphins with the top of their heads sliced open in the carnage that is the annual dolphin hunt...the sea turns red with the blood of these toothed whales. I am always curious to find out what motivates people to live in these "off the chart" places. How do they manage. Every board, every nail, etc, etc has to be imported. The disadvantages seem to be staggering. What are the advantages? Few commentators dwell on these issues. It seems: "it is what it is" attitude in reporting what can be seen and nothing more. This channel is absolutely outstanding on cinematography , music selection and commentary. Just adding my 2 cents.

Great video and music and excellent narration. Very well put together and so informative. The seems perfect for the beautiful coast of Norway as well. Not being rude but my wife and I are interested in getting Fleming and we were wondering what your fuel cost would have been on the Iceland UK trip? Roughly. Grateful for an answer.
@FlemingYachts
@FlemingYachts 4 жыл бұрын
I really don't remember as it was 10 years ago so prices would not be relevant today anyway. We get about 1.3 US gals per nautical mile including genset. Fuel was very expensive in Scotland. The equivalent of about US$6 per gallon and cash only. No credit card. I have cruised the coast of Norway also in a Fleming 55 belonging to another owner. You can find some videos about that on www.vimeo.com/tonyfleming. Look for Lofoten.

A boat like Venture would be a very rare visitor to this remote island . For a guy whose life would be entirely involved in fishing in rough seas I would imagine that a chance to run a boat like Venture in his home waters would be a great attraction to the extend he asked.
