Hubby and I were driving on Hillsborough Trail on our golf cart heading out to Brownwood around 5:00pm yesterday when we saw the FD not too far from the guard gate. There was a fairly decent sized sinkhole in the middle of the road. This is going to cause some travel chaos. The sinkhole was on the side of the street as if you were entering into Lake Deaton.

I recently bought some towels from Home Goods and I’m glad I read the tag cuz it says: Wash before using’ and when I took them out of the washer the tub was filled with so much lint that after I took them out of the dryer the lint trap had about an inch thick of lint and it came off the lint trap by itself. Just make sure that you wash them separately from other clothing items…

I love Peter Bernard , however a GOOD commercial car wash is much better than washing it with a Hand Mitt. If your going to do it urself a no touch spray is how super cars are washed. Best thing to do in order to avoid swirl marks regardless of how it’s washed is to have the car professionally detailed once a year. The wax quality or ideally a ceramic coating is the key ! Love Linda going full teacher mode on the Pet of the week ! Ha

Kohls has great towels used to get mine at Pennys but then a few of them lost their color early so changed to kohl’s sorry for your losses I too lost my college roommate this past year so that was hard and a lady who was my stand in mom on the racetrack so yeah makes you appreciate what you have in health and friends Happy new year! Cart safety, I always wear my seat belt, and give cars the right a way even if they don't have it. My cart as most are is 6' tall or more. I have a flashing strobe light on top, my headlights on and cars STILL...STILL pull out in front of me and when they do I blast them with my extra loud car horns I installed. I still have the little tooty horn that came with my light kit. Tell Peter when washing his car, start with the top, then hood and trunk lid then the sides. NEVER use the same sponge or rag on the wheels that you use on the body. My owners manual for my car says to not go thru an automatic carwash because it could damage my wheels. I think the previous owner did because there is finish damage. Again, another great video.

Come on guys. I love your show and you two guys are great. That was a giant exaggeration on what is likely not a sinkhole. If it is near a sewer cover or a drainage area it is likely a depression caused after some heavy rain. In my 36 years in Florida, I have heard of about five or six Sinkholes at different locations around the state. Anything that gets big press is going to be a big concern in the minds of some folks 😊

Up here in Michigan, we have no choice but to go to a car wash, at least in the winter months. Have to keep the salt off the car. We go to a brushless car wash. We do have a heated garage, so occasionally we wash down the cars with a bucket of water. Not as thorough though.

Thanks for the video! Always fun to watch your shows. Here is Sugarmill Woods, we had a huge sinkhole open up a few blocks from my house, which ate the entire house. Fortunately, the owners were not home at the time. It's one of the downsides of living in Florida. Thanks for the Bubble Rap! When I wash my car and there is a lot of sunlight, I use my leaf blower to remove much of the water quickly so I won't have water spots. I do appreciate the tips, and I'll try them out. Sorry to say we also have a sinkhole in our Village of Hemingway. Our poor neighbors discovered it last August when they were having a new (paver) driveway installed. It's been a nightmare for them ever since. It pretty much is out of their hands. Their insurance company deals with all the state agencies. LUckily they had sinkhole insurance but still have to pay over $40,000, out of pocket. Now they have to be out of their home for 3-4 months while it's repaired.

Jerry, I use the $7 automatic car wash at Sam's Club. The sercert to using it is to keep tapping the selection button area until the screen changes. If you press it only once, most of the time the screen doesn't recognize your selection.

Sadly, because of the type of soil in Florida, it’s the state that leads the pack in the frequency and number of sinkholes. However, I live in Duluth Minnesota and a few years ago, a culvert collapsed and we had a GIANT sinkhole half of a block from my house right in the middle of the intersection. Pain in the behind. Much of FL is built on porous limestone underground tunnels and caves. (Marianna Caverns in far north FL is a state park that showcases a fascinating publicly accessible one that's a "must see".) So sinkholes are not that uncommon in FL.

CA can have them but that comes from surface fracturing due to earthquakes. We have a lot homes slide down a hillsides. Usually with frequent rain and high volume of water in the soil. Sometimes the it hasn’t rain for a bitt. Some serious storms along the coast the surf can wash away barriers all sand, or rocks and sand or just rocks boulder size. But with the storms we keep getting due to global warming. Then we have some sliding down hillsides into the ocean. Palos Verde area in LA is having serious moving soil. They have never had this kind of land movement before. The homes site were built in the 60’s and never had any problems but the city is looking to see what they can do . They city might as a last resort buy the homes as last resort. People do not want to have to give up these homes. Yes there are sink holes on but not a reason not to move there.

Great video! To me, the scariest sinkholes are not so much when broken or leaky underground infrastructure cause obvious-but-fixable surface erosion, but when the geological limestone barrier underneath it totally collapses due to sinking water tables (tables that once held them up) or, in the case Pennsylvania and Colorado, legacy mine collapse. While the first kind can devastate for sure, the second is basically biblical. We’re talking whole earth opening up and swallowing everything to depths hundreds of feet down. More than any other state, the Florida peninsula is particularly vulnerable to the latter kind of sinkhole activity due to a combination of rising sea levels (which at best replaces fresh water with corrosive brine if not sea water), coastal over-building, building tall, and draining the underground fresh water tables to support the increased population above and its irrigation needs. Sadly, the critical limestone barrier that took millions of years to accumulate can’t help but give way.

Linda and Jerry on the golf cart paths in the villages are we allowed to ride our bicycles or walk on them or are they only for golf carts. We’re trying to decide if we should do a lifestyle visit or just rent for a month. We took a trolley tour of the villages in November.

Save all the old bed sheets for drying the car after washing it. It will take the water off the car faster and not leave spots.
