Yep, the winds has been pretty strong this week. I normally ride across the Bayonne bridge and back to get a bit of exercise. I chickened out because of the wind.

I've had some pretty nuts rides in crazy storms where the gusts were crazy over the Manhattan bridge, but the past few days have been rough.

I'm moving to Langley VA in July. Can't wait to be able to ride in some snow.

It’s typically a “wintry mix” on average down here in the DMV, if you’ll pardon the pun. Some winters we get a ton, and some, none; most winters are just sprinkles and slush.

what kind of tires are you running in the winter?
@BrianMcDonald4 күн бұрын
I have 42mm Specialized Pathfinder Pro tires, and if it were to get extra snowy I have 45mm maxxis ramblers that are knobbier

I slipped on snow riding two years ago. I think it was due to having the wrong tires, but now I’m just afraid of falling in traffic again riding in the snow.
@BrianMcDonald7 күн бұрын
Those feelings are so hard to avoid after falls! I found that lowering my tire pressure a little bit gives me some extra confidence in these situations

Are you rocking Schwables or Continentals or Pirellis gravel tires? Seems like you're holding in damp and slush pretty good. 👍🏽
@BrianMcDonald7 күн бұрын
These are Specialized Pathfinder Pro tires. I also have some chunkier maxxis rambler wheels that came with the bike but I think I'd break those out only if it was heavy snow.

yo! I've been watching these time to time for about a year. I just moved from Florida to NYC last month! I want to start riding again with citibike but it's a little scary 😅 do you have any tips for first time riding in the city?
@BrianMcDonald2 күн бұрын
It really depends where you moved to! There are definitely some low stress areas where you can grab a citi bike and do something like ride along the hudson river without having to deal with cars which is a nice place to start out, or something like Central Park or Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Then as you get more used to it you can branch out with little neighborhood trips and next thing you know you'll be biking all over!
@thetruthspeaker510111 күн бұрын
Can you do a video on the bicycle you ride I think it would interesting…
@BrianMcDonald9 күн бұрын
I have plans to do videos about having "One bike that can do it all", but it's a lot to plan out and shoot 😂
@gangstreG12312 күн бұрын
What do you feel about the parking-protected bike lanes around the city? They are always full of debris and holes so I prefer the reverse arrangement. Jersey bumper is best but they still don't get swept out enough.

Modern bike hubs sound so awful, like cheap plastic garbage. Vintage bike hubs that were noisy actually sounded good.
