Okay… being a boomer used to dealing with old school analog tuning, I confess that I have absolutely no idea what all you did to electronically solve your idling problem, but I somehow managed to enjoy every minute of it. Go figure. Charlie and Angel cameos are always a win. Thank you as always for the video! 👍👍👍

The idle problem was because I had a bad factory PCM, like I diagnosed in the previous video.

Elec tuning vs mech tuning is the same thing but all the terms are all different enough to make you feel like a virgin all over again. Just like DSP vs analog audio and RF. You could be the shit with analog but jump to DSP and you're back in grade school even though you're mostly doing the same thing.

I have seen elsewhere on KZbin, about engine starting science. Manufacturers over years have lernt, delaying fire up of engines during start, by what seems 1/2 to 1 second prolongs engine life, it gives the oil pump a chance to build up oil pressure before everything fires up, minimising oil starvation when engine is cold.
@SarahnTuned2 жыл бұрын
The biggest reason for the delay on this engine is it takes time for the crank trigger to sync.

The prime does not put fuel into the cylinders. Prime puts fuel pressure onto the fuel injectors so that when you crank the injectors, it has positive fuel pressure to inject into the cylinders receiving pulse for fuel injection.

newbie here! Looks like you've done a great job Sarah! But I might suggest renting a dyno for the day vs just going out on the street and trying your luck.. LOL. Not that it can't be done on the street, I've done this many times using the vz analyzer. (Assuming you are using the registered version of tuner studio?) When set properly it will get you pretty close pretty quickly but the ability to do steady state tuning on the dyno is really the way to go. Often times the base tune timing table can be fairly soft as well. Tuning on the dyno would also allow you to dial your timing table on the given fuel you choose to run (91-93 I hope🙂) Not to mention EVERYONE loves some max effort dyno videos!!!

I would have loved a Megasquirt on my Ranger a few years ago, the ability to map the fuel and spark curve would have been great. I had a cold driveability issue that I believe was in the factory mapping ('92 4 litre). I also had Borla headers and exhaust on it and some tuning would have really helped. Great to see the Megasquirt in action, heard so much about them but they look great.
