I bought this game instantly when i saw that it was from the Void Bastards devs, and I love it. Ran through the game twice so far and working on the challenges . It clicked for me right away

Hopalong is very different from the rest. His lariat can basically strangle anyone to death in one shot if you land it and hold the button down, but it takes a second to lock on, takes a long time to strangle them to death, slows you to a crawl, and leaves you defenseless. But at the same time, the enemy just has to sit there and die. The toughest enemies are done for if you can land the attack, but managing it is tough, and if there's two guys together, you're screwed. To make finding lone guys and getting to them easier, he doesn't sprint so much as slithers. He moves fast, quiet, and when he's going all out he stoops down to crouching level. Makes it easier to sneak and move cover to cover, scouting out places and finding lone enemies.

He's a strong secondary character, especially because of his special ability. Great for getting out of a bad situation

I loved Void Bastards, my only real issue with it was that I wished it had a two-player co-op mode. That would have made the game 67 trillion times more enjoyable.

I always wondered what happened to the developers of Void Bastards since they never touched that game again, and I really loved it, so I was sad not to see anymore content for it, but thankfully there is now this. Edit: I mean the name and art style were dead giveaways

I played the demo, its nothing like Void Bastards. The maps are kinda small, it seems to have a bit more story. I would be happier with a VB sequel.

If you throw down with a boss, do it on a coyote planet with casino: he can still only shoot one target at a time. Any other insta kill should work too(like judge), but he got a ton of HP.

i remember playing the demo, so when the enemy lost me, they start talking to each other and that cracked me up. then later, after being unbeatable. the poison swamp got me.

I love the art style. Very unique. Gameplay looks pretty cool too. A little pricy for my taste though.

it all depends on the ending. void bastards had a real poorly done ending which made me not want to play it after finishing it.

Remind me what the ending was. I beat it but by the time I was 2/3rds of the way through it felt monotonous and a chore to play. Once you get into the groove and see all the ships a few times there’s no challenge or novelty anymore. The ship AI got annoying quite fast too.

@@tomsko863 you were made a promise that you will get a citizenship card or something, stopping being an expendable prisoner after helping to leave the nebula, but then you're just betrayed and cooked back into ash, with all the ashes being air locked too of all the prisoners who didn't get to be used for the escaping. If I remembered it correctly that's how it goes.

This looks fantastic. Void bastards didnt wow me, partially because it felt too cramped, the gun play didnt feel quite meaty enough, and i felt some of the games random roles felt unfair. This looks as if it rectifies my every complaint.

I wish this was the kind of game I enjoyed playing combat wise, because I love this art style and the premise is super intriguing. Not great at shooters and never really enjoy playing them though :/

I really wish void bastards was just a traditional shooter because it has solid mechanics but the nature of proc gen levels is that you’re never guaranteed a fun scenario. This game is all combat and really fun based on the demo I played.
