In the UK we call them ‘Christmas Crackers’ Can’t imagine a Christmas dinner without them! You have to eat your meal wearing the silly paper hat that comes out of them 😂

I'm Australian and I call them crackers. I've never done the crossing the arms over thing. You just pick someone nearby.

In Canada we call them christmas crackers as well. We always had them as kids growing up.

@laurarodgers89012 күн бұрын
Yes we call them crackers in Ireland. Bon bons are a type of sweet/ hard candy here!

Yeah, I'm Aussie and my family calls them crackers too...I can't imagine having Christmas dinner (lunch) if it's below 28 degrees C outside. I've never experienced one, but I don't envy a cold white Christmas, and I know a lot of Northern Hemisphere folks probably think the same about the heat for Christmas....what we grow up with I guess.

Forget a coffee table.... do a continuous wrap around shallow floating table/shelf mounted to all three walls. You can make then so they can drop down out of the way or make them boxed so you have easy access storage as well. Perfect way to create a breakfast bench at the picture window.

Discovered your channel from Max, thankfully, and enjoying it a lot. I had a chuckle about the coffee table because I was one of the many people who commented about that. In such a tiny space every square inch of space is critical. Although you've built the base for the couch maybe some kind of pull out, pop up tables might work?

14:50 SO excited for you three! What an amazing adventure you are on 🎉 May I please suggest a retrofit on your steps? Right now you got them stacked one on top of each other and if you either of you step on the end one, because they are directly on top of each other, they might fall over (especially, if you're carrying something heavy, which would add more pressure to the step you take). If you simply each layer 90°, then they would be less likely to fall over. It's kind of like locking them in. I'm just concerned that one of you might turn your ankle if a "stack" falls over. Happy New Year ❤😊

Love your channel! Excited to see the build out of your home. In regard to a coffee table idea (which someone might have already mentioned) make it out of a tree trunk slab. Customizable. Coffee table maybe a large lump of beautiful local oiled wood ( obviously with flat top) and put it on sturdy rollers ( spinny ones ) so the whole piece can be moved in any direction or off to the side. An eye catching sculpture and practical all in one.

For the coffee table, why not find a tree stump? It is solid, beautiful, brings the outside in. Since you live where you do it shouldn't be too hard to find a piece naturally or you can resource one locally. You can either keep it natural with an oil or go with a resin seal. Also, this offers you the ability to pick the size you want for the space. I have one of these out of a redwood burl and I love it!

I’ve seen a table mounted to the wall that when in the up position the bottom shows and is a piece of art - once lowered the wooden frame comes down as legs - this could be revamped to suit your needs - even having it extendable with a double thick top -

Something I just thought of, adding some "joist" or blocking in your walls where you'll want to hang things or future cabinets, will future proof your walls. You have some high and low but none in the middle. Also, your deck should eventually be a wraparound! Covered at the front porch!
@Relepee2 күн бұрын
Agree. Anything heavy block the walls with 2x10’s between studs. Also use spray foam or Rockwool Roxal insulation in your walls. Pests love the other cheaper stuff.

I wish America was only a few hours flight away. I lived there for 8 years and I miss my friends sooooo much. I haven’t been able to afford to visit, but I’m hoping one day I can again, at least before it’s my time to leave this world. My best friend lives in Florida, and I miss her every single day 😢 She is terrified of flying, so asking her to fly for 19 hours to Australia, is definitely not happening, even if she had a free flight.

You should use a lagun mounted table like in a campervan. Meets all your needs as far as i can see. Adjustable height, so dining and coffee table. Can move out of way for ease of getting up steps on to couch. Possibly hinge it and fold over, so smaller when needed. Best of luck with everything.

Glad you had such a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Have fun with your building. Someone commented about having a pole to use to close the window. You might want to tuck that idea in the back of your mind. It may come in handy when you're in the middle of a downpour and want to close the window within getting drenched.
