@@kayfey9544 as a horror artist and filmmaker, we’re often very misinterpreted! many have this,, expectation that horror or surrealist authors are somehow demented or messed up, when in reality we’re often people who are very in touch with what scares us. We’re often people who have found ourselves misunderstood by our peers, and have gotten comfortable being strange ourselves! I mean, for gods sake im a horror artist who is scared of the dark and my grandmas basement!! As much as the general population likes to sensationalize us, we’re just people who understand why we fear what we do!

I think people like that have satisfied their inner darkness and that keeps it from coming out elsewhere. “The shadow self” and all that. Not tooting my own horn (I’m not particularly charming) but I very often get labeled as sweet and I adore horror, it’s my favorite genre. It can be important to get in touch with that part of you.

People like him understand fears, and specially other people's minds so they can apply horror and scary stuff in his stories effectively. I do think that Junji is a chill person, but it's obvious that he's leading us to think that of him. His true self? We might never know.

Think about it this way Do you think a romance author could write a love story for the ages without ever feeling the emotions of love? In order to write something that scares others, you must first be able to write something that scares you!! I personally paint a lot of surrealist body horror pieces, which wouldnt be possible if I didn’t know what it was that scared me! I make art to horrify me first, and being so personal with my fears often horrifies others with those same instinctual disturbances!
