To be honest I can't afford current Hornby locomotives. It looks like your solution is a good one. Good work. Happy Modelling

I agree. The pickups make for a good runner, but the wires are too easy to break.

Great video and I think the old hornby style tender connections much better, also find the bachmann tender connections a real pain, I've got a N class loco that the tender derails a lot ,but heard it's a common problem on these ,but I've got a bachmann Ivatt 4mt 2-6-0 that has a better tender draw bar, and is fine unlike the N class. Also I rember when I was very young and we lived in Devon visiting a early heritage railway and the Ex GWR pannier tank in BR black was in a very dirty condition along with the coaches, but that's how steam used to be what my parents and grandparents told me ,some railways have let their locos have that 'model weathered ' look 😂

It's 50-50 the pins always break on the older ones and have to be soldered the plug connector is just slightly better but if the wires were a bit stronger and wearable it might solve the problem nice informative video thanks Patrick Quinn IRL

Just tried the bachmann N class out as not been awhile and it's still bad ,the tender draw bar just hasn't a easy motion to it, and the tender and loco have to be almost touching for it to be , if you watch Sam's video on his reviews of this loco you will see the issue, so sadly it's a ' display ' loco only ,sad as there nice looking locos and were based at my local old steam shed of Three bridges, but anyone thinking of getting one? be careful as your need to sort the tender connections out.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIKwfpypjJ55n68si=oILZbE82Agc3QOMX
