Kelsey Grammer's Beast was so fascinating because behind all that makeup and prosthetics and blue, you could see not just a person, but a smart, dignified human being that wasn't just smart, but more than anything, he was HUMAN. I think subsequent versions of Beast have failed at this (outside of animation of course, where he's always given his due, thankfully).

The reason why Beast can switch between forms is explained in DOFP, Beast explains that he uses enough of the serum to keep himself balanced, while Charles overdoes it and therefore loses his powers(plus during the finale of the film Beast injects himself with like 10 needles of the stuff and turns back to normal and doesn’t get detected by the sentinels, and since he didn’t do that without the serum it means he presumably has to take the serum every time he wants to go back to looking normal

I don't think Hoult's Beast was bad at all. He's actually given a lot to do in the movies. Compared to other X-Men characters who're just there to showcase their powers and show little personality. He's significantly younger than Kelsey's Beast so he's not gonna mirror the traits of his older self. He was still growing. Its also important to note that First Class was a movie that had a very short production deadline. Yet it ended up being 1 of if not the best in the X-Men movie franchise. Matthew Vaughn doesn't get enough credit for it. They literally stole the credit from him when they robbed him of Days of Future Past and gave it to Bryan Singer. A movie that he spent a lot of time writing but was once again rushed out by the studio.

AVI ARAD worked on the first movies as executive producer But for THE LAST STAND, he decided to step in as the main producer That's why we got a movie done by a director with no passion, and a limited story overstuffed with characters, just so he could sell more toys
@volodymyrbilyk5557 ай бұрын
It was rushed into production way before the script became a coherent whole so they slapped together two story variants and went along after Singer dropped out while Ratner was the yes man all the time

I kind of liked beast from the “prequels” i really liked the casting and all and thought it went well, i think they were just kind of restricted on what they could do when the last stand did stuff with him. I also thought that it would make more sense if they gave a reason on why he was so close to Xavier, like had a scene where Xavier did something to make himself important for beast

Considering Marvel Studios brough back Kelsey Grammar as Beast in a certain Marvel movie credits scene i think he is the best Beast we have gotten so far.

Kelsey Grammer will always be beast in my heart. It was one of the few X-Men characters that I think did justice of the 90s cartoon show when it comes to beast act physically not as physically muscular. But I also think that might’ve been because of Kelsey playing Zozi in Bartok the magnificent because a possible hero is such a good song. I wish it was longer.

I don't think the actor they got for young beast was even the right body shape. I always imagined pre-blue Beast as far stockier. They also failed to really convey the size of his feet, much less his hands. His feet should have been so big he couldn't wear shoes and his hands so large he had issues handling small things like books and pens/pencils. He should have had a LOT more body hair too. All of this would have better gone towards the assumptions he has to deal with that he is unintelligent, particularly from anti-mutant racists. (I felt that other than the bar scene in the first film and the scene in X2 with The Drakes, the films really failed to show regular people being racist and hateful. It was all about the government and nazis, but there wasn't much in the way of the hatred of neighbors and families. The hate that I think would hurt the most on a personal level.) Back to Mr McCoy, seeing him deal with the assumptions of those around him that he's a mindless... well, "beast" as he struggles to prove his intelligence to people who see him only as a monster. Like the narrator of this video, I agree that he DEFINITELY shouldn't have been able to switch from human to blue at will, but I also think they should have waited to make him fuzzy until a later prequel film.

The best part of the casting is that Beast in the 90s X-Men cartoon and Dr. Frasier Crane in Frasier are so similar in characterization.

Nicholas Hoult's not even a bad actor and i actually liked him in first class for the first part of it but they just made his character get worse later on in that movie and especially in days of future past which is a movie i can't enjoy because of his, mystique's, and magneto's writing in that movie were all frustrating
@highdefinition4507 ай бұрын
it's dumb that he can change back. the irony adds so much depth to his character imo. in trying to look normal, beast made himself stand out even more, losing the ability to even pass as a normal human. his insecurity and self-hatred made his life even harder. having the ability to look normal kinda removes that aspect i think lol

You know if they were going to have Henry in The Marvels look like how he did, they should have just stuck with the makeup and prosthetics. If they were going to make him CGI, they should have given him a design that required it. Like have him look like a slightly buffer version of his X-Men Evolution self, my favorite look for Beast in his ape form.

I’m pretty sure Beast being able to transform into his blue form, even with the serum, is explained. Hank tells Logan that he takes only a little bit of it. While Charles is pretty much straight addicted and takes it non stop. That’s probably why Hank can still control his mutations while Charles can’t.
@drawingtime-lapses25244 ай бұрын
I think completely honest the district bad thing works for me. You know he’s taking less mean that you can change unlike Xavier he’s taking more which means that you can’t change at this point and it’s really interesting thing and it helps the vibes the film it helps the plant helps characters but I think from then on he should’ve just been blue sword ruins the film. It ruins the message that they gave that .
@callmev35317 ай бұрын
6:05, The biggest justification for Cat Beast is this more animalistic look kind of pairs well with this earlier Hank on a thematic level. This is the monster Hank sees himself as, and with his continued usages of serums and his growth towards accepting the affects of his mutant condition on his appearance, not only is he able to switch between his bestial and human form at will, but his bestial form also becomes less animalistic, less monstrous. 10:28, Of course, the various continuity issues with this franchise that essentially make each of its post-Last Stand installments their own separate continuities means Nicholas Hoult’s Hank doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with Kelsey Grammer’s Hank beyond Days Of Future Past’s epilogue, meaning attempting to connect his past iterations to the one in Last Stand wouldn’t really work either way.

Everyone wonders why we get such bad superhero movies. Stop taking random potshots for no reason. If you didn't like movie move on and they won't continue to triple down out of spite. If you just leave it alone, they'll be motivated to make something different. If you keep giving it legs like you all do, why should they stop?
@theweirdofengland6 ай бұрын
What a bizarre comment. If a movie studio decide to “triple down” after receiving negative film criticism then that’s just a bad financial decision on their part. Movies won’t get better just because you stop talking about their flaws.
