I used to be a home health nurse and my guess is the owner was elderly and washed her hair in that bathroom sink before she got that awesome shower installed. The kitchen faucet would have helped a lot with that! I wonder if they were the original owner and that's why the house was so vintage?

It looks great but you should've put a pocket door on that master bathroom. its going to be hard to open if someone is using the sink. You'll also have to close the door to open the cabinet doors or drawers.

Feel like they should have kept a bit of a drop-zone mud room at the back of the dining room...maybe behind a pocket door. Not so much for the airbnb, but for resale later. Otherwise, a fantastic reno. As for the airbnb, they should have swapped one of those queen beds with a double set of bunk beds. Would have gone from sleeping 6 to sleeping 8 and from 3 separate beds to 6 separate beds. Very useful when it's not just couples or when there are a lot of kids. Also, a pull out couch in the master bedroom would add another bed!

I don't get the American showers with fixed shower heads. You finally have a house with an adjustable height and you change it to a fixed one. Especially for a Airbnb when you don't know the size of people who'll use the shower it would've been better to be able to change the height

Nice house. Nice job. I wouldn't have made the kitchen 2-toned. I would have made it all wood grain. No kitchens from the 60s were 2-tone, if you were trying to achieve a retro look. Also, most designers put the darker on the bottom because it's more likely to get dirtier and more scuffed up.

I would have made the small kitchen into the master bathroom. In what is now the dining room I would have made that into a huge kitchen. The dining area would be the rear of the huge main room. I don't see that this would have cost more. You already brought plumbing out to the garage.

I love the channel, I can't remember when I first found it but I binged your videos and watch every new one. But what if I want to flip my own house? We're slowly working on it but it's going to take many years. It needs a lot of work, it was built in 1933. It's small and cute, but has some big issues. The bathroom will have to completely come down, it was an addition that has no ventilation besides one window and they slanted the roof wrong so ice builds up. The chances of mold in that bathroom are very high. The kitchen is a lean to and my boyfriend says it's no the best structurally and should be rebuilt. Another thing is working on a better foundation, the original foundation is mostly rocks so the house is a bit crooked. We're planning on no basement (even though that would provide more square footage) as that's a big expense and will take longer. It's a story and a half, after we redo the kitchen we'd like to extend the second floor over it. There's some beautiful original pieces to the house, hardwood under laminate (we sanded and restained the living room but the kitchen has at least three layers of tile, linoleum?, laminate and potentially some sort of floor leveler), one banister, and the cupboards seem to be handmade. They've got wavy wood around the cabinets (I don't know a good way to describe it) and they're slightly uneven but I love the charm. The counters are a weirdly low height lol. We want to keep it in it's older style, when my boyfriend bought it they had painted the trim a grey-blue which didn't work and it's back to brown. We like old appliances and such so it matches very well. Any ideas and stuff from anyone would be appreciated, it's fun but daunting

I feel a bit mixed about renovating these old houses. Due to all of the memories and childhoods that were in these houses. For example, my grandparents own an old house and they have owner it for 50 years and they dont want to sell it because of all the memories they made. And its sad seeing houses like these being renovated and the unique aspects being destroyed. These renovated houses all look the same and dont have any of the unique features that made them stand out.

@lowbird7947 Жыл бұрын
They mean the mortgage vs rental income. The house was paid in cash (probably a hard money loan). After finishing the repairs they got a mortgage (and paid off the hard money loan). The rental income pays the mortgage/expenses and they make $1K profit a month. Though it does seem weird that they were only in $2K debt before they broke even.
