My wife was throwing out a Santa with a “straggle” like beard this morning….then I saw your video….cut off the “straggle” for some flys like you made here! Interesting coincidence! Thanks!😂😂

Would love to see your twist on a " hooligan" my go to lure . Not many people have seen this fly before . It's simple but deadly. Cheers .thanks for the content.

American sizes on the Beads. 5 thirty-seconds of an inch works out to 3.9 mm. A 3.8mm Tungsten would be an ideal replacement.

Nice looking fly! I’ve been tying a similar fly for a few years with ostrich herl tail and Semperfli straggle string on body with a slotted bead head on the Hanak 450 bl , Great Lake fly ! Definitely going to ttie this one to try.

Love the colour combo, the bead head should give good action. May help me get out of the 'blank' zone🙄

The story goes Jock Esplin was fishing with this as yet un-named fly he had created with some amount of success when 2 young anglers wearing Celtic football tops approached and asked him what fly he was using. An Ally McCoist was his reply.

That's something I would do for a good laugh John, I could have guessed it was something like that as the colours are a bit far away from Rangers...ATB Davie

Hello Davie, I cannot find the Fritz Material you are using for this fly pattern. Can you help?
@DavieMcPhailАй бұрын
Hi @dorothyriegert8958, Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I did a search and I struggled as well to find the fritz I did ask a couple of friends if they knew but they haven't got back to me as this fritz when I bought it was easy to find at the time.. I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie..

What size epoxy eyes would you recommend to fit a B175 heavy wet hook size 10 or 8 ?? Thank you kindly
@BB1872Ай бұрын
3mm or 4mm at a push I'd try on a size 8 mate.
@keithfarrell957Ай бұрын
@BB1872 thank you , il go with 3mm so .
@DavieMcPhailАй бұрын
Hi Keith, I mainly use 3mm though having one or two with a slightly bigger eye will not go wrong as it is a good trigger point for the fish in my view... All the very best Davie

Hi Trevor, It's Bill Mcilroy's Unboosted 3D Subtle 15mm Dark Olive fritz that I used, I just did a search online but I'm struggling to find some though if I do come across some I'll send you a link.. All the very best Davie
