iirc the reason why that migrating au'ra tribe attempted to migrate to coerthas is because before the 7th umbral calamity the region would've closely resembled the steppe before it froze over! unfortunate the ishgardians were there first lol
@Rhigitar3 жыл бұрын
Sorta. The main reason is that they were fleeing the Garlean occupation. I actually made a mistake in that segment of the video as to how long ago it was. Those Xaela migrated roughly 10 years before the Seventh Umbral Calamity... and the Seventh Umbral Era was only about 5 years long (something I often forget)... Sooo still relatively recent history all things considered. There's even a certain character who lives in Ishgard that remembers this massacre and shaped him into what he is. Hint: The tribe that was massacred was the Orl tribe.

What's the lore behind the Au ra that seem to want to become birds? I'm not sure why, but I have only ever seen people use the vanu gear as male Au ra, and only as tanks as well. Both Roegadyn (by way of FFXI Galka) and Au Ra have their earliest concept art as having been beast races, essentially. Galka were initially conceived as being lion men (not too far off from Hrothgar, funny enough), and the first concept art for Au Ra had them looking like Argonians from Elder Scrolls (which Im assuming got scrapped because armor would have been nightmarish). Missed opportunity there

I'm very curious about Hyurs. Usually in fantasy it is never explained why, in a world full of "mixed race" that have the same intelligence of human s plus better physical traits, humans were able to survive natural selection. Like, if there are races that are basically "hyurs but better", how come humans managed to survive?
@Rhigitar3 жыл бұрын
I'm planning on doing a Hyur video soon(ish), but here's the super short summary of it: Adaptability. None of the other races are as adaptable and malleable as the Hyur. When the other races find a solution to a problem, a Hyur has already found 10 and tried another 5. They're able to understand, adopt, and integrate into other cultures very quickly... Then also find solutions to problems that culture faces thus molding it themselves. The other races all have one or two different (general) cultural heritages. The Hyur have thousands. This, coupled with that fact that they are the perfect jack-of-all-trades, makes them the second best race at nearly everything.
@ItsBoyRed3 жыл бұрын
just because there are "better" races or evolutions does not mean the previews generations will go extint, look at humans and monkeys, we still have those.

@BroadwayRonMexico3 жыл бұрын
They arent related to succubi or demons/voidsent in any way (especially considering that voidsent didnt exist until the 13th was swallowed by the flood of darkness, and Au Ra/Dran were already around). That was just a design motif and inspiration they used when making the female concept art design that eventually became what we have for the race now. The first concept art associated with them though was of an explicitly draconic race, and only art of the males was made. They looked like Argonians with options that looked like either more spikes on the head, or the backward facing horn option that present female au ra have with their face 1

8:24, you Said that The Spelling of The name would be exactly like in The Latin, but in your example you used Yugiri, and you pronounced The GI like GUI, when in most latin descendents languages that GI would be pronounced JEE, you used The Anglo-Saxon Style in that, like in English or German, in languages that derive From Latin like Italian, Spanish, Portuguese we would say JEE
@Rhigitar3 жыл бұрын
All those languages use the Latin alphabet. As apposed to Cyrillic, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, etc. Yes English isn't a Latin root language, it's a Germanic language, but it uses the Latin alphabet. The example given was Hepburn romanization to English. Because the guy who invented Hepburning Japanese (James Curtis Hepburn) was an American who spoke English... So that's what he based it on.
@Kravenrogue3 жыл бұрын
@@Rhigitar Yeah, they use The Roman Alphabet too, because Rome had conquered and influenced those regions like England, but they had also many other influences, some words came From Germanic, and some come From Latin too, but they pronounce The words Very different, like something simply as "En nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti." They pronounce Very different From What most of "Latin" languages would, even Thou they use The same Alphabet and similar Grammatical Rules And From What I've seem, some words in Japanese are pronounced more similar How an "Latin" language would, like Samurai, or Karate, in Anglo-Saxon-Germanic languages they pronounced The R in Samurai or Karate different From How a Japanese would, but If You ask a Latin Speaker to pronounce those same words they would pronounce more close to What is The "Correct" Japanese way

@@Rhigitar even in FF universe, The Race Au Ra, The "Ra" would be pronounced different in Japanese and Latin, in Anglo-Saxon Languages they Have a "Round" R, in The others is vibrating The "R" Sound, similar to The cliche Russian "R" speaking I Hope you Could understand What I mean, I dont know How I Could say What I mean, is difficult without Speaking, and Just writing lol And I am not an Native English Speaker too
@Rhigitar3 жыл бұрын
@@Kravenrogue That's all fine and good, but I'm sorry, as I have no idea where you're going with your point. It doesn't matter at all how Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc. use the Latin alphabet. Nor does it matter how the languages came to use the Latin Alphabet. Because none of that has any bearing on Hepburning Japanese. All I was saying there is that the Raen Au Ra names are created in the exact same way as to how James Curtis Hepburn translated Japanese to English. They would write the words so that when an English speaking person says it out loud, it would sound as close to the correct Japanese pronunciation as possible. This video is made with the English translation of the game in mind. I probably should've said "Latin alphabet as used by English", but I figured that was unnecessary since the video is in English. I have zero clue how the names are translated in other language settings. Technically, if they're following Hepburn translations, (which I don't think they do) the names would be spelt differently for the translations to make sure they are said in the same way.
