The back story for my Viera was her mother was killed trying to defend her as a child and she ran off into the wilderness to escape. Almost died from the elements when a married couple of Hyur hunters found her and took her as their child because they were unable to have any of their own. When she started showing what gender she was they helped her pick a hyur name after her new parents. She came to Eorzea, after they died of old age, to escape the memories. The rest is, as they say, history.

That’s a pretty good background for your WoL Viera. With my WoL being a Hyur female I had to get inventive about her origins and how she has no known family or home. So I made up a small island nation far across the sea loosely based on historical UK. I did go into reasonable detail but I’m happy enough knowing my WoL has a family and origin country far away.

Idk if ff xiv vieran lore follows that of ff xii. If they do, then vieran travelers sre actually exiles of their tribes. Male vierans are also rare and live separately from the female, only meeting to make sure vierans dont get extinct. Also in ff xii revenant wings, there exist a short-eared tribe, and by short, really short

Also the vierans in the first are an exception I think, since the story involved them being finally opened to travelers and allowed their members to leave (not neccessarily exiled / banished)

The Viera do follow the same lore as FFXII. The Viis aren't open to outsiders and only let the WoL (and friends) in because they thought you were Allies of the Ronkan Empire (which the Viis have fielty to). Remember Y'Shtola showed them the Seal of Ronka. This is why they stopped attacking you when you first meet them. The Viis in the first do still banish those who leave their tribes, they're just sorta sad they have to do that now. See: the sidequest involving Phyna. Phyna decides to leave the village and is told she will sadly never be allowed back. Though, it does seem like the Viis want to change this part of their culture. See the same sidequest where they start to see the people of Slitherbough as potentially helpful and friends.

The player numbers? The unofficial census website (ffxivcensus.com/ ). Not 100% accurate due to how they gather data, but actual numbers are never shared by Square Enix. The data from there is good enough to make comparisons to the percentage of players playing one race over another though.

Maybe, maybe not. Personally I think the helmets aren't as big of a deterrent for people. More of an annoyance. Most people only wear glasses or small headpieces so they can still see their characters face. IMO the bigger problem is the lack of hairstyles... Especially for the Hrothgar... Having the hair locked to the head selection isn't exactly ideal. But again that is only my speculation there.

This is clearly a joke/tongue in cheek “accurate lore” of the Viera lol why are there so many running around throughout Eorzea? well because most players are straight males and the Viera are the most attractive playable female race and if a straight dude is going to have to spend hours looking at the backside of a character why not a long legged tight asses Viera’s 😂 and as for true lore, you clearly haven’t played Final Fantasy 12 it’s where the Viera race was basically rooted and explained.

Yea, the video has a lot of jokes in it! But for the most part, is actual real Viera lore. When I made these videos they were supposed to be majority jokes with some real lore sprinkled in, but I've gone more and more to real lore since a lot of people seem to want more of that... And the lore in this game is really interesting to me. I covered actual lore of the races I skipped in this follow-up video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooOspmafdsuSm6c ). In text: The real reason there are so many Viera: There aren't. In-lore they're actually extremely rare, and you'd be lucky to see a single Viera a year. Extremely wealthy people would actually pay money to just be seen with a Viera... Because they're considered that rare and exotic. Now, obviously, the games lore and actual in-game experience is very different... With Viera being the third most played female race... Or is all this just a cover story made by the Manderville's to hide their forced resettlement of people? /tinfoilhat And yes, I didn't bother looking too much into FF12 Viera solely because... They're different universes and different games. We don't know how much lore has been changed between the two iterations of the races... For example, the Hrothgar are nothing like the FFX Ronso that they're based on... The only lore we get for the FF14 Viera comes from Fran and the Wandering Dramaturge.... Which is 3rd hand account... So there could be inaccuracies in what he says... But with the release of male Viera in Endwalker we may get some more of their lore! I'm very excited for that.
